Only spend that much time if you are doing all the work yourself. There are databases out there that if you are nifty can really help you. I don't do it myself but my sis is in college and hasn't spent a cent on food in 3 and a half years... She actually donates most of it to the food bank in the city her college is located in, its a really day and night city, one side of the tracks and the other.

Not really preppers, but i know a spot for singles looking for other singles who are into permaculture

I love permies, have been reading over there for a while. I wish gardenweb could get their shit together to be as easy to use as permies, wealth of information on gardenweb, more old timey gardening than permaculture though I think they might have a section for it.

I like the family in southern cal. The ones that grow the vast majority of their food on 1/10th of an acre. They were very impressive. They show what can be done on a tiny plot of land.

It was interesting to see the NYC prepper. I feel preppers rely too heavily on guns.

That christian couple, that stock piles alcohol to use as molatov cocktails (but don't drink) were interesting as well. He has over 60 guns, yet I doubt he has any hand2hand skills. he isn't in the best of shape. He has acres, yet haven't even started a garden.

Guns are great, but they are not sewn onto your body. There is a chance that they can be seperated from you, or you wont be able to get to it in time.
