Smelly Jar Lids

For a while now I've been wanting to stagger my harvest to see how my plants smoke when pulled a tad early, right on time, & a tad late. Taking small samples early & late, & harvesting the majority of the plant right on time. I've started to collect small glass jars that I would normally recycle, but I've noticed that the smell of what was in the jar lingers in the lids. Olives, pickles... I'm wondering if anyone knows a trick I can use to get the smell out of the lids. Or, should I not even worry about it cause my smoke wont pick up the smells? Or, should I just scrap the jars & go buy some jelly sized canning jars?
Any help is appreciated :rasta:

Like Brother Bear said. That smell isnt coming out.
I re-use jars for storage and gifting but I stick to jars that have contained products like jelly . They dont smell after a good wash. Anything that has held vinegar or spicy / pungent products isnt going to work. You need to be careful because you can wash the lid and think the smell is gone but after having it closed onto the jar it will come back . Then your bud is going to smell like pickles.

That pickle smell will not go away. New jars used for only one purpose is the way to go. Save the pickle jars and make pickles.

It's the seal on the lid. It's a porous material and the smell will never go away. Get new jugs...

if they are somewhat of a standard size...you may be able to pick up the rings and lids in the canning dept of most dept stores...just take in an empty jar with ya to see if you can find a match...

You can get these for about $5 for 6 at walmart, I have a dozen for every day use.

I am always on the look out for good travel jars. I thought my capers jar would be perfect but the lid smells like capers after two cycles in the washing machine.

I kept the jar in hopes of finding a non-stinky lid.

The only thing I use used jars for are chemicals, and old cooking grease.Forgot to mention that I use 35mm film canister's for everyday use,and also these small fish food canister's I got as free samples(plastic)Washed the fish food one's,and no smell.

same thing here, jelly jars work great, also smaller artichoke jars, pimento jars, horseradish jars are perfect with no residual smells. no doubt though if I kept a whole bunch on hand I'd buy a couple dozen wide-mouthed mason jars

This guy I knew always had buds that smelled like pickles, probably because he kept them in a pickle jar.

We call him Pickles.

I've gotten some nice wide mouthed gallon jars from our local deli.I have bought a fair share of Mason jars too but for large quantities i much prefer the deli jars.
