Electrician?

Hi there,
I had an inspection and the inspector asked me to have a (licensed) electrician to look up the wiring and to document his license #

am I screwed? is there any way around this?

my friend is the one who did the wiring. He is not licensed but is knowlegable...

I don't want to let anyone else in here.

Is there a way to give a fake license number or something?

Yes you are screwed unless u let a licensed electrician in, no way around it if u need him to leave his license #.

Yes you are screwed as such. You could try recommend that you get a licensed electrician to look over the work. Here, I was told by the city inspector, that he didn't care who did the work, as long as a certified contractor took out the permit and looked over the work before inspection. Good luck. Peace GS

basicly the inspector knows nothing about wiring, so he is asking you to get a licensed electrician of your choice to look at the existing wiring....if you ask me this is amazing since they are not sending in their own uptight guy....who is just looking to give you violations....

if i were you find a licensed sparky who will just take a quick look over and get his license # from him and explain him whats up, slip him a 100$ tip and all is good....

@joe fresh; I do not understand. Find a sparky? like a 'cool' electrician? where do I do that? I want to find someone old and with kids and a dying child or someone like that with no threatening ties or security risk.

If I call a company there'll be paperwork and a trail to my address? he has to document why he was there?

best way is to find someone and ask if they can do it off-hours? off-the-book? or would they get sketched out? what if I offered to pay them for use of their license #?

fuck it is EXCELLENT wiring... I just had 3 wires hanging out it looks bad but they were not even connected...

first thing you need to do is relax,your legal so calm down,if u cant find a electrician thry this site call some from the yellow pages,explain what you need and is there anyone that can work later then 9-5,see what happens,stay calm and think it thru....

Do you have any friends who know a guyÉ ask around you be suprised,
I am actually going to get my wiring inspected just like you would any job, then cops and inspectors can beat it...... I think in my prov the home owner can pull an electrical permit.
then you just need a licensed contractor to go over the job, improve install , and sign off then inspector comes back....dont trip

maybe go to a grow store and ask them if they can reccomend any good people...

with a decent sized grow and all the power, having a licensed electrician should be at the top of your list...

ah, the good old western mind, never thinking of the future, always cutting corners.

what you should have done is set up a 4x4 tent, and 1 bulb. then invited the inspector over. it woulda cost virtually nothing and you maybe would have made a friend in high places by showing you had nothing to hide. after he okays your set up. hel never be back. now you gave him an excuse to ride your ass and come by whenever he makes an appointment, and the authority to shut you down until permits, elctrician and inspections are done, good luck. d
