Missouri Constitutional Initiative Covering Industrial Hemp, Medicinal & Legalization

G

That's right Anti, that's what I'm saying. I do apologize if I've come across as a dick, that wasn't my intention. It's just that patients like me can't wait, and I tend to get testy about these sorts of things. I mean, think about it...does Cali really need legalization? If you live there, it's already legal even if you're not sick...know what I mean?

I really don't know what fantasy world you're living in, but Missouri is a conservative state, and your bill has 0% chance of passing. I went to college in MO, I would know. Every time a bill fails, it gives the prohibitionists more ammo to say, "look, Americans don't want pot." A medical bill? Probably would pass, I'd give it a 75% chance. The problem is that some people who are on the fence about medical are worried that it's a path to legalization, and you're just confirming that for them. If you think people are going to vote for this bill just because medical is part of the bill, you're really really delusional

Calm down and realize that people said the constitutional amendment to allow women to vote would never pass.

Do you know how many years and marches people around the country had to put in until women got the vote?

Do you think they should have sought to have supervised voting for women first? Maybe their husbands get to cast their vote for them and if they aren't married their father gets to cast the vote?

That would have probably been easier to pass, but it doesn't make it moral.

You are preaching the fear the prohibitionists want you to preach. If you don't like this amendment don't support it; however don't assume that your opinion can control or predict the Show Me State.

If you want to work on a medical bill for MO or elsewhere GO FOR IT! You will get a lot of support from this community and if anyone comes to your thread spouting negativity about your bills chance of passage, you will have many stand beside you and question the doubting Thomas.

Maybe4Sure is saying (albeit in a dickish way) that it is selfish to introduce a "full legalization" bill in a conservative state such as Missouri because it reaches for too much at once.

I agree that it is a bold move in a state like Missouri, especially when you consider that so many more progressive marijuana states have not managed to make that jump.

I also agree with him that if it fails, it will be used by the opposition as evidence that Americans don't want it legal.

That being said, what do I know about the attitudes toward cannabis in Missouri? Nothing at all. For all I know it's an all year hempfest.

Hello Anti

Maybe4Sure is also saying (albeit in a dickish way) that they were "bashed" in this thread.

That is a lie. A damned LIE!

AND IF it passes it will be used by the dedicated prohibitionists to say that America is going to hell in a handbag.

On these issues I believe bold is best (I could be wrong, I hope I'm not).

I'm on the ground now in Missouri. It's not like I went to Missouri some time in the long ago past and basing my opinion on that long ago experience...I'm in the now.

While I am meeting some resistance I can't emphasize enough the overall resounding approval this Initiative is garnering. This includes folks that even a few short years ago would never have considered the proposition.

I think folks here would much prefer someone grab a joint than to reach for some highly addictive pharmaceutical poisons or some poisons mixed in someone's filthy kitchen. In a nutshell that's what I'm hearing from people I am interacting with. These folks don't live in a vacuum, they see what is going on around them. Family and friends succumbing to street poisons when a safer alternative that could be more easily accessible.

Given those facts I think this Initiative is in a position to receive a majority of support and pass.

Now given that, IF then a group or individual wants to challenge ANY part of this Initiative what part does logic say will be challenged?

Enter "severability".

In the end, we either get ALL three or just two of the matters contained in the Initiative.

Win, win!

Thank you for sharing your considered opinion on the matter, Anti :tiphat:

Take care, Anti ,

Not ONLY were you being a dick (for which you have apologized and that apology accepted), but you leveled a FALSE accusation that is completely ridiculous on its face and which you have not retracted nor apologized for.

Without your possessing a modicum of intellectual honesty regarding your false accusation I don't see any point in further discussion with you.

I'm working on that, Galahad.

Not to speak out of class, but I don't think they have much faith in our out-of-the-way bucolic backwater down here ;)

I intend/plan to prove them wrong and I'm going to need some help making it happen...

Do you want to register to collected signatures or just sign the petition?

Good morning, Galahad!,

I hope the effort in your state is successful. Us states need to show the Feds what sovereignty is all about, it seems :frown:

May I be a party pooper for a minute? I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of pragmatism displayed by the people behind this initiative. What I mean is, a medical bill most likely WOULD pass, but an all out legalization bill most likely would NOT pass. So, what I'm saying is that you should go for what you can get now, and move from there later when you have a better shot. Either way, good luck. Missouri is a conservative state in general. You'll need it.

Ok. This post was from way back in the thread.

And I'd like to point out that somebody (and neither Maybe nor I know for sure since it's hidden info) gave him neg-rep in the form of finding the above-quoted post unhelpful. This might be seen as bashing from Maybe's side of the fence.

I will say this again, I believe this is a terribly selfish thing. You should be doing a medical bill instead, because that would probably pass. This bill has no chance whatsoever. Bash me all you want, but you have your head in the clouds not me

Here is the next time the guy responded... like 6 pages later. He invites people to bash him all they want, but he is not claiming that he is already being bashed.

Hello maybe

You do realize the feeling of persecution doesn't necessarily equate to actual persecution, right?

I have not bashed you. Nor has anyone else in this thread.

My only interaction with you was rather positive in all regards....

There was a lot of non-bashing in this reply and I cut it short.. but I think WHAB is reacting to Maybe's FEAR of persecution and because WHAB has gone through a lot of effort to be civil, he's offended that Maybe would imply that WHAB was bashing him.

In reality, SOMEBODY has found two of maybe's posts unhelpful and an unknown number of people might've given him negative rep which he can see (but I cannot.)

In my opinion, a healthy debate from both sides of the fence would keep this thread in the first page of the "new posts" section of the forum and would greatly increase page-views and thus get the word out to many more people.

(That's why I've taken the time to make this post.)

I interpreted the inference in "Bash me all you want,..." as 'since I've already been bashed, keep it up and bash me some more. No matter the bashing I've received so far it doesn't matter'. When, if fact, and as you note Anti, I have been nothing but cordial, positive and inviting.

What has happened outside of this thread I can't say. And, for future reference, I don't care.

Every time I need to respond to such silliness I'm not going to invest time and effort, beyond what occurs within this thread in forwarding the Initiative, in researching EVERY respondents private or semi-private interactions to see if maybe (not this "maybe" ;) ) someone has offended someone somewhere else.

And, regarding this from Anti...

"In my opinion, a healthy debate from both sides of the fence would keep this thread in the first page of the "new posts" section of the forum and would greatly increase page-views and thus get the word out to many more people.

(That's why I've taken the time to make this post.)"

I couldn't agree more and personally appreciate the time/effort expended in it :thank you: ...

I want wider participation for this Initiative, not less.

I hope you all have a great night, and that means you, too, maybe4sure ;) (j/k, of course :) ) :tiphat:

Want To Help Gather Signatures But Can't Seem To Get Away 4 Training?

Want To Help Gather Signatures But Can't Seem To Get Away 4 Training?

Want To Help Gather Signatures But Can't Get To A Scheduled Training Event?...

Or For Some Other Reason Can't Leave House For Training At Those Scheduled Times?...

Your problems are solved!

The training is now coming to you!

Everything you need, or need to know, is now at your fingertips.

*For your convenience all hyperlinks are live*

Online Petitioner Training

Do you live in the “boonies” of rural Missouri or work a crazy schedule? Have you been unable to attend a Volunteer Petitioner training?

We have a solution:

Online Volunteer Petitioner Training!

If you want to help us get signatures, we want to help you make that happen! Please follow the instructions below to get signed up:

(#1) Please read the text of the initiative here, and watch our video “Initiative Basics”.

(#2) Read our “Rules for Circulating Petitions” and watch the corresponding videos (parts 1 & 2), which tell you what you need to know to canvass.

(#3) Download and print the “Volunteer Waiver” and “Petitioner Registration Form“. Both of these documents must be filled out, signed and sent to Show-Me Cannabis Regulation, PO Box 5963, Kansas City, MO 64171, or given to a local Field Coordinator before you will be allowed to gather signatures. Please make sure this is written in clearly or it may not count!

(#4) Please download and print the following documents to carry with you and your petitions, in addition to the Rules document listed above:

Missouri Congressional District Map
St. Louis and/or Kansas City area Congressional District Maps
Right to Petition on Public Sidewalks Letter
Right to Petition at Public Universities Letter

(#5) You will also need to fill out this online questionnaire so that we know you are ready to gather signatures and regulate cannabis!

(#6) Please email your Regional Field Director to let us know we should be expecting your forms in the mail.

Finally, because every petition that is printed and mailed must be paid for by the campaign, we ask that you make a donation online to help cover our postage costs if it’s possible. Whether or not you can make a donation, we ask you to make a commitment of collecting at least 30 signatures (two pages) and returning them to the campaign office by FRIDAY, APRIL 6TH, 2012.

Thanks so much for being part of the movement!

I hope this makes it easier for the folks that for one reason or another can't make it out to the scheduled events.

Even if it's just to get the signatures on your one block ;)

Please, remember you can help by just merely passing this information on to someone how needs to hear it...

And I reiterate the appreciation of Team SMCR ... :thank you:

:tiphat:

Take very good care,
WHAB
