I am making a kief tumbler from a 5 gal bucket and a BBQ rotisserie motor-- I am cutting the sides of the bucket out, and putting silk screen on it...but I am having trouble finding something to glue it on with-- Has anybody here done it, and know the best thing to use that will adhere well to the bucket??
Thank you in advance--:tiphat:

Prep is key here. The bucket has a surface film from the manufacturing process which must be removed for proper adhesion. Abrasive or a chemical de-glosser is indicated prior to assembly.

Use any reactive adhesive spec'd for nylon/plastic. Provide plenty of fresh air for your safety.

Enjoy, and post some pics if it works out for you!

Wish it was that easy-- They make buckets with Polypropylene...which is extremely difficult to get something to adhere to, even with scuffing-- That is why they use it for buckets...since most adhesives are available in 5 gal buckets...they don't want them to stick to it--
I am trying a test spot now, with this stuff, Sikabond...spose to stick to anything...we shall see-- lol
Thank you tho--

Sikabond eh? never heard of it... Id suggest 'SIKAFLEX' which is a marine grade sealant. Try the quick set, rather than long open bed variety. Score it first obviously. Is it icrucial that you use a plastic bucket?

Yeah, Sikabond is spose to be a grade above Sikaflex--
Haha...you read my mind...if this doesn't work, Ima get a metal bucket instead-- lol

Why not change your design so that you don't need glue. Pop rivet a strip over the ends where they meet on the drum, and put long radiator type clamps over the round ends, or staple them and wrap with electricians tape to seal?

No glue that I am aware of that will stick to PE or PP, much less stay stuck taking the abuse of tumbling.

Ok...so the Jury is in...no glue sticks to polypropylene!! I even tried a primer that is made for it, and it peeled right off also--
So, I taped it-- I used 2 sided carpet tape first, then stuck the mesh to it--

Then I went over it with Gorilla Duct Tape--
Here are a few pics of the finished product...it is going now, so I won't know for a few hours how it works-- Hopefully well...cuz I have several large trash bags of trim from the spin-pro to run!!
Thank you all for the input!! :tiphat:

If you have an auto trimmer why not buy a quality tumbler to the mix?

Good luck with the lawn clippings from the trimmer i would be interested in your returns.

I was trying to figure out a way to make a home tumbler but my usage is rather small compared to you fellas.

Eventually my mind worked to the idea of just breaking up trim and popcorn with my fingers over a 73u or 163u bubble bags. I cleaned a window pane i had sitting around. Gripped the top of the bubble bag with both hands and just shook it around a bit. After ~5min i had a deep golden kieg layer on the window. By far the easiest hash extraction method for small quantities of trim

hey if ya wanna clean it up and make it look more prof built use pipe clamps to hold mesh to end caps. you can buy them at home depot or any hardware store real cheap. just put a thin bead of glue around edge of end pieces then wrap mesh around and clamp in place with pipe clamps. saw an article in high times awhile back and thats how that guy did it. looked great. hope that helps ya. good luck yo

Are you sure it is 150 microns, or is it 150 mesh??
I seen the number on the silk screen, and thought it was microns, but silk screen is measured by mesh (holes per inch)--
There is a conversion chart in the stickies for this--:tiphat:

Well, the return is a bit pitiful-- But it tastes so much better than the bubble, that I will go with it for a bit--
I am an employee for the Collective...I grow it, but unfortunately for me...I don't OWN it!! Lol!!
I get a percentage and a salary...I do ok, but it is by no means putting me on Baller Status--
That is why I am (for now) having to make do with what I can-- I'm just happy with all the trim I was gifted!! :ying: :tiphat:

Hey, all. Has anyone seen this film from Cali, with an awesome diy tumbler> I really like two aspects of this design. 1. is the side loading aspect, which makes for doing large quantities, more doable. 2. I like the hand crank method. I very much agree, that using a hand crank gives you more control. Also, no motor, means cost is reduced, plus no need to pause between batches to let the motor cool.

One, thing I'm wondering, is how do you get the thing to close securely? are they using velcro?

Question, for everyone, what is the best glue for nylon mesh? Thought I read somewhere - aquatic glue????

I forgot about this Thread, sorry!!
Well, my final outcome was that the BBQ rotisserie spins too slow...I got a small return after a few days of running it 2-3 hours per load--
I tried the dry ice method, and am now going to put the rotisserie on my BBQ for chicken!! Hahaha!!
Seriously, I got such great results with dry Ice and a bubble bag (150 or 180, not sure)...that I will never run water through them again-- :tiphat:

Lol. Hate the cold ice, never again!. I'm really thinking that hand crank is the way to go. Guess it depends on the size of your tumbler?

So what I do to speed up my dry sieving, is to put the plant material in a large cooler, inclosed in a bag. And then put dry ice in the cooler outside the bag. Then close the cooler and let sit for like 30 minutes or 2 hours, still havent figured out the details. Anyways, once the herb is nice and brittle, and those triches are ready to just drop off the plant, then I sieve.

Sievings a bitch, bubble bags are a bitch. I really need a large capacity diy tumbler.

Well, in the tumbler, I got an ounce in 4 days, that is a quarter pound of spin-pro trim per batch...but with dry ice and a bubble bag, I got a pound in about 6 hours!! And when the bag got all coated and clogged up, I just told my son he could have all the kief he could scrape out of it...I got it back squeaky clean in no time!! Lol!!
IMO, this is the way to go for large amounts of trim--:tiphat:
