I just remember saying 'Hit him. Hit him! C'mon dude fight!' for the whole match.

I was hoping, HOPING, that they'd at least clinch, .. Y'know, so Lesnar could've had a [wrestler's] chance.. ?!

Either way, .. Of his 7 UFC fights, he fought:

Frank Mir - former HW champ
Heath Herring
Randy Couture - former HW champ
Shane Carwin
Cain Velasquez - former HW champ
Alistair Overeem - K1 HW champ (not even worth mentioning the Dream belt, which he won from vacancy over.. Todd Duffee?! The guy who got Russow-d?!)

I'll bet a dollar to a donut that if you plucked some guy from relative fame from another organization, had him face the same competition, .. He'd be lucky to be 4-3.

Anyway, .. History. Really looking forward to the JDS/Reem fight..

:ying:If you got someone from anywhere, anyother Org,everyone on that list would smash them except Heath Herring maybe.Hes ok,but not top tier.Anyone would have a tough time beating ,Mir,Couture,Overeem,Cain or Shane Carwin. So one thing you have to give to Brock,is that he faced a Tough Ass lineup, that most dudes would have a hard time with, and would crumble from the pressure.Im no Lesnar Fan,but he got thrown to the Wolfs from Day One,imo..

Reem has fought some of the best strikers in the world. If you haven't had a chance to see the K1's from the last couple of years do yourself a favor and watch them. K1's striking is incredible. These guys bring the noise. Badr Hari is a beast and his fights with Reem are some epic wars. Semmy Schilt destroys 3 world class guys, with all 3 being finish with liver kicks and wins the whole thing. Some good shit.
Lesnar needs to train outside if his comfort zone. He isn't pushing himself. He needs to go somewhere like American Top team with a bunch of strikers that are going to want to kick his ass. He could take a year off and train his ass off, learn how to fight stand up and then I think he could work back into the UFC taking on some journeymen level fighters. I just don't think that his ego will allow him to do any of that.

I agree that wins over guys like Badr Hari and Semmy Schlit are impressive. But I'm not sure that the comparison is exactly apples/apples. In K1, there's no concern for a guy shooting on you & taking you down. Even in the clinch, there's no concern about getting tripped and taken down.

I definitely respect Overeem and his abilities, .. But I'm just not terribly certain that we've seen him against top-tier talent when it comes to MMA.

Overeem is for real... his striking is top-notch and his takedown-defense and ground game are above-average.

I'm excited for strikeforce this weekend. Luke Rockhold is from santa cruz, nice to have a local boy to root for.

Sonnen all the way, this isn't EVEN going to be a fair fight.....:tiphat:

Agreed

I'm not sure why, but I really don't dislike Sonnen. I'm not sure if I'm buying into the "heel" role or what, but he does seem to have an odd mix of "That's really who the dude is," and "No, he's just selling fights." .. And that balance, whatever it is, I think I respond to. :)

I'm having fantasies that it Sonnen does Bisping like he did Marquardt - just a clinic in top-control and GNP. And since Bisping isn't half the wrestler Marquardt is, I think I may just be in luck.. :D

Edit: And the fact is that Sonnen gave Silva his most competitive fight of his UFC career (does the Chonan fight count? ;) ) ..

And I'm not sure if I'm buying into Sonnen's bit, but I do think there's something to be said for Silva's reluctance to commit to a rematch.. Who else is left in the division?! I'd rather watch Sonnen/Silva than see a re-tread (albeit with a different opponent) of Silva/Maia or Silva/Cote or Silva/Leites..

Screw that, lets get this rematch on the books, there is noone else for Silva to fight. GSP should be going down in weight not up and we all know that Silva isn't going anywhere though he could easily get himself into LHW and fight some guys with power.

Tomorrow's pick'em, anyone?

My heart tells me Condit, but my gut tells me Diaz. I don't see Condit being finished, so I'll call it.. Diaz UD?

Nelson beats up on Fabricio, I think.

As much as I'd love to see Koschek lose, I just don't see it happening. Though I'd love to see him get KTFO.

Anyone else?

First off, I have to say, CHAEL LOST THAT MATCH!!!!!!!!! Bisping sooooo should have got that decision. 30-27 for the one judge? the fuck was he watching?

Tomorrow's pick'em, anyone?

Diaz all the way, and it won't be a decision. My guess will be referee stoppage due to strikes..3rd round, maybe fourth.

Werdum with a split decision, possibly fight of the night depending on which Nelson shows up.

Koscheck by Knockout, first round.

Bonuses that I would like to see....

Diaz/Condit Fight of the Night
Diaz Knockout or Submission of the Night
Pierce Knockout of the Night if not Diaz
Nelson Submission of the Night if not Diaz

Can you tell I like Diaz?? LOL

Speaking of which.........NateDizz.....where you at??????

I don't know Smith - it certainly wasn't a convincing win for Sonnen, but I think he effectively neutralized him for the first round, and clearly won the third.. (All of the internet retards, one of which I now am, are saying "This is Bisping's karma for the Hamill decision" - ha!)

But, I have to say, it was an ugly lookin' fight. Just terrible to watch - lousy for the second showing on FOX. I respect Sonnen when he said "I didn't feel comfortable the entire 15 minutes." (or something).. I don't know why, but I like the guy. (If nothing else, he SMASHED Marquardt, which is always awesome. F that guy.) But right now, he's about an 11 on the heel angle - I'd like him closer to a 7. :)

Diaz is a guy I really don't care for.. I don't like what he brings to the sport, don't like the way he represents the sport.. (Though I did just read an interesting interview with him, I think on mtv2 - via Cage Potato dot com, where he seems to open up and is a little more connectable). .. But Christ in a sidecar, that guy is talented as heck. Like, HECK.

I'm excited for the Werdum/Nelson match - I really think that'll be a good fight.. (Gotta be better than Werdum/Overeem, right?) ..

Busy today tomorrow - wedding rehearsal, late lunch at the brewery, bowling and more beers, home for fights.
