So I found my perfect spot and ive decided to make moves on it and buy it.

12 acres with a well (25gpm), a school bus, a RV, and a shipping container.

There is also a 1500 gallon buried water storage tank and an outhouse.

Located in the HIGH :dance013: Desert of New Mexico.

Here are the pics, Cheers!

Beautiful spot but you might want to remove the gate pictures with the numbers...Though Im sure the chance of someone knowing where that spot is are slim...better safe then sorry.

right on!!! wtg Johnny, already having a well is BIG out there & it's the one thing that worries me whenever I think about moving from MN where I have crystal clear water from a deep well w/a depth of only 66'.

very nice scenery & a med friendly state, gonna taste like a slice of heaven. property ownership and living in the country is as good as it gets imo.......

thanks man! im pumped.

I got really lucky with a well. The one on my property is 450' deep with water at 300' but some places out here are 1000', 1500' deep wells. Hell, some wells are dug and never hit water. Then they are stuck still paying for a hole in the ground...

I LOVE northern New Mexico! I've been in the mountains of way NorCal for most of the last 25 years but if I was gonna look at making a move to retire I'd probably be your neighbor :). When I lived in Phoenix I used to make a lot of weekend trips to Sante Fe and Taos to get out of the heat.

Maybe they should just go deeper and see if they can hit oil. A buddy of mine is in the extreme southwest corner of CO and told me about the water issues where you're at.

I don't know how much they get out there but about 15 yrs ago in MN they were getting $14 per foot drilled plus all equipment. Hitting a dry hole @ 1500' could cost over 20K for the drilling. :yoinks:

did you check or did they guarantee the water quality? no sulfur, methane etc? the county you're in should provide very affordable testing. If you're going to collect a water sample be sure to remember to use a torch to heat the spigot (remove rubber grommets 1st) to eliminate any hidden bacteria, those tests are sensitive so don't contaminate the sample w/outside influences. the county environmental services will likely provide a sterile plastic bag or test tube to take the sample with.

Congratulations!
I know where that is. I could be there in 4 hours.
I used to live in the SLV. I looked at those mountains every day and played a lot of hockey in Taos.

Thats an epic spot. It looks a lot like the high desert of oregon. Sage brush for days. Are there any juniper trees out there?

That sounds like a slice of heaven - I am very happy for y'all...

One question tho' - buried buried water storage tank and outhouse.

The outhouse isn't buried, is it???

'Cause that could be a problem...

I am gonna do solar off grid power with a generator backup. The well will run off a trickle solar pump to the buried tank (so water doesnt freeze in winter) then i can irrigate as necessary.

But yeah no power as is, so i need to invest in some deep cell batteries and some panels

That's a gorgeous piece of property you've got there. I lived in northern NM for a very short time, it was one of the strangest, but most interesting, experiences of my life. I won't get into the whole story, but it's truly the land of enchantment. Are those the Sangre de Cristo mountains I see? I recall that country can run pretty thick with cougar, a good dog might be nice to always have around (I know I appreciated my M-I-L's Alaskan malamute bitch being with me when I ran across those tracks).

I hear you on the well. We got into contract on our property and the developer waited until the house was finished to build out the septic and have the well dug. They had to go 798' to get 3gph. I'm paranoid that our well may run dry, because the neighbor just uphill from us ran his dry. Of course, the asshole keeps his sprinklers on a timer, just to water weeds year-round, and they live there part-time.

Congratulations, by the way!
