I used 1/2 inch pvc tubing and 4 90 degree elbows. Cut the 4 sides to the lengths needed. I drilled 1/8 in holes every 2 inches all the way around. The reason is I use string woven through the hloes to make a 2inx2in grid.
So the question comes up why use string, well string is strong enough to hold down a plant. Two, when its time to take the scrog off at harvest, it's easier to cut the strings and pull them out then lift off the pvc square. You don't screw up your hard work trying to get buds back through a screen or cutting them all off. Way easier to cut strings I thinks.
My screen sits on three screws that are screwed in to the walls the weight of the screen holds it down and when it fills it's not going anywhere. Hers some pics of the screen.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

Lookin good Pearl. I'm also wondering about SCROG. What are you going preflower, tying new branches to the net and just keep doing that until you fill the net, then flip to 12/12?

There has to be a thousand scrogs around this place..all different kinds. It never hurts to do a little homework

I used the same framework that pearl talked about with T's inserted for leg pockets, but I used vinyl-coated clothesline for stringing it the first time. I had read that the "toothy" texture of the vinyl worked well for holding the plant in place, which it did, but I had some weird deficiency's throughout the grow that I could never get a handle on. After reading about vinyl out-gassing, I thought that might have been the source of my problems, so I did away with the clothesline from then on and the deficiency's stopped.

I replaced the screen with a product that I found at Home Depot in the concrete section. It was a wire screen inserted between two pieces of some type of building paper, which peeled off very easily. The screen has 2" holes in it and I just used tyraps to lash it to my framework.

If you use PVC for the frame, you don't need to glue the fittings. Friction will hold them in place until you get the screen attached, and the screen then holds everything well.

thanks everyone! one more question. with my setup shown above, will i have to repot all into same sized pots before SCROG'ing? or put all in an even leveled plate?
:thankyou:

Evening them out would help. You need a minimum distance between the screen and the dirt in order to work under there. If your pots are all different heights, then the tall pots are going to be difficult to work on or the plants in the short pot are going to have to grow a lot more before they hit the screen.

I like to run my screen around 14" above the soil, lights are about 20" above that.

Lots of LST during vege, and the first couple weeks of flower and your set and ready to rock.

Ok, well maybe it's more involved than that, but like warped said, LOTS of SCROG's to look at, hit the search button and do some homework! :tiphat:

That's the larger hole chicken screen right!?!?

Nothing wrong with chicken screen and all but I've had problems pulling buds out of 2x3" garden fence. Guess it depends on strain? :D :tiphat:

yup, the larger holes, but i never kept my plants under the screen.

i used plastic bread twistie ties and tied my stems down on top of the screen... easy to harvest too...

thanks pearlemae for your inspiration ! i just built my scrOG using your technique ( string). this is how it turned out.
i didnt drill holes and weave , like you did , i just taped it and it worked.. for now, lol.

im keeping half the ladies under the SCROG and the others just LST'ing.

Personally I use 2x3" 2' wide garden fence simply stapled to the walls,... but it looks like your in a tent, so structure would be needed.

Here's my screen and tables

When full and ready to harvest, the near end of that screen normally looks about like this! :D

no offense, but your screen looks too small for 3 plants...

also, once the plants are into the screen they can't be moved the way you have attached to the walls. it's best to make the screen and plant(s) attached so they can be moved (for pics or more specifically for actually working on the scrog...

what you have should work, just some suggestions :tiphat:

check verdantgreen's thread below... he uses a wood frame and attaches it to his pots. you might be able to use more PVC and PVC fittings to attach to your pots. some 1 inch sheet rock screws and a drill would probably be enough to anchor the base of the screens frame...

in my DWC units, i just extended my PVC into my reservoir and let the four legs hit the bottom of the tub...

anyway, it's just an idea, not required, just makes it easier...

good luck :tiphat:
