Which are the ones you can count on your own hand? I'm looking for some nice info - don't want to fall on an inferior quality seed bank...

Let's say we would like to know those to be counted on one hand among the ones displayed in "Seed Vendor Forums".

P.S. What about the legendary SOMA, Mr. Nice, Serious Seeds ?

Well perhaps you should look for someone with an education, love for the plants, positive attitude, and good customer service..

Oh wait, Chimera already posted! :)

Chimera you truly seem to be the plants champion and can't wait for your book.
I would be all over those Highland Mexican x Blueberrys if i wasn't aiming for a low profile scrog.

bad breeders are people that are chucking pollen in there closet and asking 100 or more for there gear..I dont consider these people breeders.. These are real breeders IMO..

Chimera
Tom Hill
DJ Short
Sam
DGS
CBG
Simon
im sure I have missed a few good people and some cant be listed here on ICM.. There are way to many bad ones to list.. Soma does not make my list I had some of the worst experiences with his gear and not one person to help with the problems I had and im not the only one..

I started to post up a big rant but I'm not. I can count the true breeders on one hand. They are the only ones that would get my money.

Can I just get some true F1's? Especially if they have been tested thoroughly. At least then the females would all be keepers. Some good P1 stock would be good also. I would pay good money for those. These two items are the hardest to find. You have to be real careful when someone claims to be selling f1's. Most likely they are not. You can keep your poly-hybrids I can do that on my own.

You want some freaking amazing F1's.... Get Connoisseur anything... I highly highly recommend the ChemJones or Secret Recipe.. everything is 90 bucks.. the cheesedog is supposed to be amazing too..

Mental Floss
Breeder : CHIMERA/DJ SHORT
Flowering Time : 55-65 DAYS
Environment : INDOOR/OUTDOOR
A chunky, odorific prolific producer adored by commercially minded producers and hash connoisseurs. Strong sturdy stems make this hybrid an excellent choice for SOG gardens or bush style grows. Purple hued colas with a taste and nose reminiscent of sweet berry licorice and the finest oriental incense. Truly an outstanding hybrid of near miraculous medicinal value. - Supposedly a more couchlock sort of buzz, good for pain killer, anxiety, sleep

Silly Hammerhead.. that does not tell me genetis..

Re read Chimera's post and wonder how many really competent "breeders" there are out there whose seed is actually worth paying proper money money for. 5 that I can think of, him being one of them. I am talkiing of people who are actually at it now, not those who did great things in the past, the topic is about beans, for germinating.

Most replies seem to be talking up one "team" or another, few seem to have spotted the man mention the actual nuts and bolts of doing it properly, or thought through the significance of his words.

Knocking out crosses of Elites doed not make you a Breeder, just a Seedmaker, the first is worth 100/pack .. but the second really is worth nothing more than 20 or 30/pack. That is presuming it is tested, plenty is sold untested.

Raco correctly pointed out that most of the industry are buying them in at 5 or 6/pack of 10.

That's all there is. If you want to know ask Chimera. You probably will never know DJ does not tell ya where he got his genetics from..

IMO the best TRUE breeders (meaning breeders who work their strain over and over b/f putting on shelfs and charging a bunch) are not necessarily the ones with the best strains.. Some companies have taken other True breeders strains and crossed w/ some amazing clone only's to produce things far better then "true" breeders ever did..

In my opinion, rez, sol, dj, and prob some others have gotten surpassed by competition using their own strains

$50 - $200 per 10 pack of seeds

or

$400 oz of dank

me, ill buy my seeds, grow equipment, nutes and pay the increased cost in electric and ill come out WAY ahead.

oh, forgot to mention the cost of gettin caught growing in a non med state.......still worth growin my own.

there are threads where members list who they believe are the top breeders...........just go do your own research b/c what I like and think is Potent may not mesh with what YOU like.

i choose my strains soley on medical effect.....not worried if it yields well or finishes in 8 wks or if it turns nice colors.........only on how well it works on my spasms.

go to the bay and look in the server fund or xmas specials, find your price point and then search here on the boards or in the specific breeder section.

Ultra Sonja from GrindHouse is @ $30 per pack.................very good price...good daytime med for me.

Shit from Mr Nice is one of their least expensive strains.........sweet frosty ass nugs and by far the fastest clones to root......never over 6 days and roots exploding out of the starter plug.

Make sure to go to the Xmas section for the ultra sonja for 30!! Its still 60 under grindhouse's section..

I spoke with them recently, and I'm not sure they are going to be making seeds any longer... just not enough people buy their stock to justify their time and expenses. The wives loves the seed crops for their hash supply, but kids, mortgages and bills sure put the pressure on them to grow nugs of instantly sellable sinse crop rather than waiting for seed dollars to roll in slowly....

-Chimera

In this case I would say its Cannacopia's fault... as a newer consumer (been on here for a year, other places long ago) I have zero knowledge of CC's products or seeds...

You have to get SOME promotion going on, especially when vending lower cost wares that benefit from high volume...

So no test growing threads, no buzz whatsoever, at least on this site.

edit: i even click on the 'new posts' icon, so its not like i' not looking... perhaps the cannacopia people are spanish speaker? i dunno man i aint heard of them mofos

Shit..... maybe I'll just take that job with the Pharma company and let them pay me a salary and play around in a legal lab, legal greenhouses, get my little condo and fuel efficient car and be a good little member of society and not have to worry about the pigs knocking on my door...

Hi Chimera

There are still a few hours left before the application period ends on this opening with the IAEA. It only pays 93K, but it is in Vienna.

I see it like this; you have breeders and then you have people making crosses. I'm pretty new to all of this but to me it seems you are a breeder if you're working generations and refining a genetic pool. To me it would seem that if you haven't started out with landrace varieties or worked an F2 to an F5-6 then you're just making crosses (not preaching this as gospel, just how I see it, so far).

So in relation to seeds being expensive, it's all relative. On one hand you have people putting out enormous resources in R&D (as Chimera pointed out) and then you have other people standing in the shoulders of these giants. When buying seeds, I think it would be wise to think about where you want to see the industry go. Where your dollar goes, the industry goes as well.

Ultimately, in my opinion, a seeds value isn't in the end product, but what went into making it.

.

So true!
Also remember that WE, growing in unfriendly countries for personal use, are the risk takers. The days where seeds were produced in hidden basements are mostly gone, big companies mass produce in foreign countries where they're safe enough and give the seed production task to third parties. Support small breeders with fair practices and prices

Peace

I see people whining about the same thing in so many markets... However the cannabis seed market doesn't even have huge companys with monopol... I mean I get the idea that sharing is caring and whatnot, but if it wasn't a free market don't u think it'd be a whole lot less attractive? Why the fuck are you whining, if you don't like the price for something, don't fucking buy it, nobody is forcing you. It's that simple...
