looking for new strains---I went around the net and I feel dirty now

Glad to be surfing ICMAG after quickly looking around at other sites and breeders to see whats up outside of the only site I use the internet for, ICMAG...

its scary and weird out there i must say. got called a noob for asking a simple question, by a kid buying single seeds none less.

anyway to the point.

1.so many breeders and sites to keep track of... and most of the "underground" or should i say "hyped" breeders are at sites that need you to register and wait for acceptance till buying... i thought that was weird... kinda goes against a open market doesn't it?

2. most stock is sold out or sells out right away due to thread fulla fan boys that hype the shit without any test grows or feedback from breeders.

3. all strains sound and look soooo amazing....until i read the fine print and see its made from F1 stock of other big breeders

4. prices are all high...$100 min. seen $200 for a company that has zero hits.grow reports when googled.

im wondering if some of the lower priced, unknown crosses are worth time and money... could be some crazy phenos in these dime a dozen new breeders.

anyway good to be back, dont worry i took a shower, restarted my computer and packed fresh bowl before coming back here....dang what a day....

Don't you think it's up to you to decide who is just a closet crosser and who do at least some work? We only get what we deserve, so if someone need to spent his 100$ for 10 polyhybrid (polyhyped?) seeds just because it is yet another supa-purple-dupa-kush-g13-smush here it is..

do some looking around you might be just as shocked as i am with the amount of stuff out there... and fans to go with them... but ya its pretty hard to tell whats what sometimes.

Why not just roll the dice on whatever strikes your fancy at the SeedBou's fundraising site. There are lots of crosses of everything at great prices. At least you know its not sketchy.

I never understood just buying 1 seed. I mean I know some people are strapped for cash these days, but I'd rather wait and save a little money and get 10 or more seeds instead of putting all my hope into 1 seed that might not germ. The boo and the bay for me

i dont recommend it... there is a reason why i fell in love with this place.

to be honest though I will take a chance on a couple lesser known breeders that are slanging some crazy crosses... some of the prices are completely fair and you could hit the jackpot

Polyhybrid is basically a hybrid of hybrids. A lot of stuff out nowadays are polyhybrids. F1 comes from P1xP1, and F2 comes from F1. Polyhybrid can come from whatever, pretty much.

Polyhybrid is like Super Silver Haze

SSH = (Skunk #1 x Haze C) x (Northern Lights #5 x Haze C) or something to that nature.

or like Jacks Cleaner x Vortex
Hybrid- 1985 SSSC NL#5 X Pluton X Purple Haze X NL#5 X Jack Herer X Apollo-13 X Space Queen

Where 50 strains make up 1 hybrid, progeny will display a higher instance of genetic diversity.

Everyone has had success with all breeders out there, I can only give you advice on what I have personally tried, and like.

Of all the seed banks I've tried, there are two standout companies that have stood above the rest for me. While I haven't tried as many as some people around here, I've had numerous successes with Cannacopia Seeds, as well as Mosca Seeds.

Mosca's Tsi Fly gave me an outstanding apricot smelling pheno that is one of my favorite tasting smoke I've had.

Cannacopia has at least 3 strains I would be comfortable recommending, and there price range is just where it should be at around 30 bucks for 10 seeds. There Chunk D, Lapis Mountain Indica, and RKS x DC are all worthy of growing out imo. Though they all have deep chunk in them with all gives them similar results, the results themselves are very consistant with there descriptions.

Other strains I have loved over the years and most recently is Chimera's Sweetest Sativa, which is some really tasty, very frosty, and potent shit.

Also, Reefermans Cherry Bomb II is supurb but hard to find nowadays.

Seedbotique is a stand up place to get your seeds from as I would recommend them. As far as hyped up companies that are fairly new, yes, there are a lot of them, but from what I'm reading there are a hell of a lot of experience dudes out there that make top shelf MJ.

We really are blessed having the Bay/Boo...When I first started I just bought random seeds like Blueberry...or Northern Lights...from some random .nl company. The smoke was ok, but the information that we have right at our finger tips at ICMAG is just amazing.

If you have been hanging out for awhile...you kind of pick up names of popular strains...which are always grown, always talked about, and always loved. You cannot go wrong with anything from: Reservoir, Mosca, Chimera, TGA, Hortilabs, Karma...etc.

They all have Sub-forums right on this very sight...and always answer questions that need to be answered. Res has taken a leave of absence for the mean time...but his beans are still out there and I have always great results with his stuff....Just dank, heavy yielding, great bag appeal...the whole shebang.

Just get a mixed pack if you cannot make up your mind..guaranteed keepers in every pack for all of the above mentioned breeders.

There are loads of great seeds available way under $100 a pack- doesn't mean the more expensive ones aren't worth it by some measures.

Anyhoo, like folks have said, our own officially approved vendors have pretty much anything, from untested crosses to pedigreed name brands.

however there are crosses not available at the bay or bou' all over the place... there are deticated stores to these small upstart pollen chuckers... i wont go into details for risk of tou infraction...

some offer good prices on what they say are untested beans, but some still ask 100 and in strain desc. say things like may and might and should.

anyway not knocking the bou or bay i love em, got some BOG and REZ stuff going now... going to get some chimera stuff soon...

but the point is has anyone else tried these crazy crosses or plan on taking a dip into strains you dare not speak of here? I know im going to try some out to see what up, for a kick.

for example kyle kushman's strawberrrry cough x alien fire (alien tech x fire og) or "the white" crosses/S1's out there?

i hope i dont get in trouble, just wanna spark some conversation... I know members here are active elsewhere, just wondering if anyone has seen or bought from these guys... not the High Times type hype breeders but the truly underground small time guys....

i agree, if you dont stabilize a strain (which takes a while) before recrossing it to something else then the gene pool is weak and unpredictable

100 bucks before shipping, ect, 120+ makes me think twice or three times before trying it out.

some of the new american breeders have bx's and S1's of some clone only's... plus some very good (so they say) parent stock... so not all are crazy mixes... mostly just not tested and reported on.

He has fans for a reason and if you look at the pictures posted on his forums well you decide. Lots of breeders are using his genetics also.

I've been growing his kyle kushman's strawberrrry cough crosses for a while and have yet to get a plant I don't like. And those were the ones nobody else wanted. There is one negative from his whitefires that I have going but still one of the frostiest plants I've grown.

And there is nothing wrong with buying one seed at a time if you are legal and have plant limits. That way you can grow different strains from different breeders. I have many packs of seeds that I will not grow because the first seed out of the pack wasn't all that great. Life is too short to grow average weed...

true... im not talking about one breeder though... but i think we got the site down.. although there are 2-3 sites, but they seem to be owned by same guy...

im glad you liked the alien crosses.... im interested in a whitefire bx by a diff breeder as well... sounds good.

hmm i think it all boils down to price in my mind !

if your paying 200 bucks for 10 seeds i want consistent stellar results !

if im paying 40 then im more willing to pheno hunt , one thing i don't do is buy into 'elite' clone hype ............... the law of averages says to me that better plants are found year on year by people who just either don't realise what they have and just keep and smoke , or just don't have the large circle of friends for it to catch peoples attention !

i don't mind poly hybrids either, you can find truly unique things when its a cross of a cross of a cross , just as long as the price is right and can afford to find a few duds ,


so to some u,p i don't dismiss any breeder, have a go breeder , pollen chucker ,........... just as long as there prices are right

they don't offer wire transfers... i don't like to get a money order and pay $15-30 to ship the damn money order... or even send it in regular mail and wait/wonder if the damn thing even arrives or not.
