Im trying to get my head round nutes a little

Firstly, maybe it would have been better to post this in this section...

Im gonna be using canna bio vega and bio flores and wanted something to give things a kick during flower, would this be ok on its own as a boost or would i need to find something to add extra P?

Secondly, why could i not add both ph up AND ph down to my feed? Isnt phosphuric acid full of P and potassium hydroxide full of K? sorry if this is a bit of a naive question

so could i not use these to make up a boost that has a P:K ratio of 1:2? I dont mean add an acid to an alkali and see what happens, but could i not do it in stages mixing some of one into the feed, then some of the other?

Im only asking as ph up/down is so cheap in comparison to some of these boosts for sale

You're obviously new to hydro.... take it slow.

Your goal at this point is to:

1. Learn the ins and outs of hydro nutrients

2. Learn how the cannabis plant grows and reacts to the nutrients

3. Not mess up your plants so horribly that you don't get a harvest.


I highly suggest sticking to JUST plain nutes... nothing more. Once you've grown a few times and know what to expect from your plants... then you can think about boosters. Until then you're really just throwing your money away.

Go to the hydro section and read up on pH and using nutrients in hydroponics. Read all the Stickies you can find.

pH up and down are used to adjust your pH... why would you add both? Please read up on hydro.

p.s. It's really very simple but it takes a bit to wrap your head around at first. This is a very rewarding hobby.

Don't worry, I wasn't about to go experimenting on my own plants

Im just curious to understand why.

Why are the P and K values of ph adjuster no good for fertilization? Especially since they contain such high numbers, being 59 and 28.

It takes very tiny amounts to adjust pH and they'll have none to little impact on your nutrient profile.

Each of these subjects will present you with different types of grow styles, nutrients and information. Personally I spent 6 months on Lucas and DWC/SWC.... first grow rocked with no issues.

Give me 8 hours to chop down a tree and I'm going to spend 6 hours sharpening my axe and planning my attack.
