I think there will be a backlash. I guess you can already see it with all the increased raids under the obama administration.

But just think about earlier this decade. Will and grace, queer eye, and a dozen other homosexual oriented shows I'd rather not try to remember. They were all very popular with good ratings, then we had an election and the main point was "stickin it to the gays" for lack of a better phrase. All any republican wanted to do was make life harder if you were gay.

An election later, most of those shows are cancelled, and nobody gives a shit anymore. That issue is ranked very low among pollsters.

Overall that saturation in gay culture pissed a lot of people off, and they fought back at the elections. But after it was through it seemed more normal than ever and nobody gives a shit about gays anymore even among the republican caucus.

As increasingly more out of touch old people die I do think the next ten to fifteen years will bring a change in the perception of marijuana.

the perception might change, but the ppl regulating the laws never will...and i hope they don't.

i don't want to have shit in common w/ any of them...i don't want a "pretend friendship"...i don't want a sideways smile or a smirk.

just leave me alone and let me do what the fuck i want as long as it doesn't bother anyone....ya dig!

....sorry just getting really really tired of trying to get on the same page w/ ppl regarding this when at the end of the day it doesn't matter one fucking bit.

capitalism is gonna gobble weed up and shit it out as a bad copy of its true self, just like it does with everything.
we are going to look back at these past years as "golden age" before corporations made the whole thing soulless.

...since the advent of technology...mankind has been in a state of regression (for the most part).......sure we know more, but we sure as fuck don't do more.

As technology increases man tends to forget the skills that he no longer needs. Take auto correct for example. In the future, some may be amazed that people in the past could spell correctly with out an electronic device aiding them.

They will be shocked that the greatest spellers of societies of old were children!

Pretty much sums it up perfectly.

I think some of what the OP means, is also how "mainstream" mj has become.

I noticed this while flipping through a Halloween costume catalog.

Have to disagree, Poppy. I think 99,99% of people who are now making money out of the game(breeders, growers, seedsellers, growshops, growsupply manufacturers ect.) wouldn't make a dime 2 years after legalization.
Look at a few comparable crops now, like corn and tobacco. Any small or even midsized players making money out of it? Or maybe even good money? No chance in hell. I'm sure there are a handfull of organic- high quality specialty producers of corn and tobacco on this planet- but i sure as hell never heard of one. Never seen one on the storeshelf. And i doubt many of them are driving nice sportscars. ;)

obviously no one is really thinking this through

I wrote about this exact dynamic CALLED IT in about 08

first I can say there is a huge misconception about the whole of the situation based on the different perspectives

but since its perception that biases actions and actions that create the karma that is the collective "spirit" of humanity

now I don' know about all of you and please check my albums if you think my skills are less than AAA+ but the value pot has as accessible medicine for all people far out weights its value as a income product for myself

mind you I live in one of the most lucrative markets in the WORLD

and in many ways my future is uncertain without having that as a factor

I want the same dream as everyone else and to be honest since I got decades in this, fucking decades.

if anyone should be hurt by change it should be me

but i gotta be honest change has come, inside of me, my mind, my being

and its because of the healing nature of the plant and how it can guide you to embrace something bigger than yourself

so when we sit hear talking about the "way of the world" that so darkens our future remember that in some part we are that way

and thus we proverbially represent stones in the foundation that is the future of healing for all

is that not the rational that makes most growers rationalize their guerrilla efforts in the first place?

but man its the healing herb?

then my question to you is "OHH OHH I WANT TO KNOW IS ARE YOU KIND?" (dead reference couldn't resist it)

if you don't want pot commercialized, marginalized or restricted then in your life don't do these things

its ok to combat corporate greed with compassion

its ok love the world around you, work for greater good, and just understand the greedy and the wicked are empty inside and yet to have a healing experience that teaches them the value of being human and being a harmonious part of humanity

so im resigned that even if i have to work 2 jobs and do 1 at Walmart and one at Target, if the healing weed is free for, the world that I will then be part of will be different altogether

wont put me out of the game at all might just take away the profit potential

ahh well if i was really about money none of you would have ever had the opportunity to know me or I you

it just seems that if the world is that in need of a miracle what cost could be too great?

if the world needs a change, whats the value?

what would a world of understanding bring?

I think it would act as a catalyst for mankind to focus efforts into growing past our current planetary boundaries

in fact i think if we are all good boys and girls in our lifetime we might see man shoot rna and DNA into space programmed to recreate life on planets it hopes to inoculate with life that will eventually evolve to diverse ecosystems with intelligent apex life

if we can't homogenize understanding and continue to use tools like war and strife to balance the world we can't expect to evolve much past this state and get off this rock before this nothing more than a rock

our generation, this time, this place is once again critical to the outcome of our future

if the weed had the same liberty as the people who smoked it where would our world be today?

guess that is the real question to ask before we analyze risk, cost and profit
