Jamaican bag seed - have you seen this before?

I bought a bag of about 12 grams worth down in Montego bay while I was on vacation and found only 6 seeds in the mix. Unbeknownst to me, those beans made their way home in our luggage (beans can be very sneaky sometimes) and when I came across them again, I decided to give them a go.

So four of the six germinated and I noticed this on one of the new sprouts. Has anyone seen resin this early in the process? Whether it's a male or a female, it may be a keeper. I'll update the progress in a few months.

Yes, those seeds are sneaky little critters. Hoping it's a gurl but even pollen would be great in this case. Best wishes.

I thought it was fuzz but a blow-up appears to show heads. Very interesting.

They're definitely heads (no stalks and the heads are cloudy) as I checked them out with my 60-100x magnifier. Whether that means anything or not, time will tell and I'll be sure to keep this thread updated. The three other seedlings under my magnifier appear to just have a normal leaf texture; fuzz or tiny hairs.

sorry to burst your bubble but in the 70's and 80's there was so much imported dutch genetics into jamaica that most of their strains there are of dutch/jamaican hybrid. alot of jamaican weed has skunk genes in it as skunk #1 was imported to breed with the local stuff to improve yield and hardyness of the plants.

Here is a quick update of 'shim' ;). I kinda like that name.

Here's her young structure:

She still continues to 'shimmer' a little:

I've got some ak47 seeds popped right now and theyve looked like this since the first set of serrated leaflets sprouted out. Most plants look like this imo, at least from my experience. Saying that they are cbd heads sounds erroneous to me. I believe that the cannabinoids arent divided into different resin glands, but rather they (thc, cbd, cbn etc) are all in the resin glands together.

End of the 80s and the 90s you mean.In the 70s the Dutch homegrown was spinach with full of seeds.Old Ed came at the end of the 70s with good genetics and Skunk was introduced in 1984.:D

Namaste :plant grow: :canabis:

when i started growing about 20 yrs ago the Jamaican bagseed that i got on vacation was far better than any local bagseed (hence my grow name- jammie). it was only about 8-10 yrs ago that i found out about ordering seeds online. now the commercial weed in jamaica is shit and i have to fight the urge to take my own stuff with me on vacation.

How´s Shim doing is the question ;)

Shim is doing well, truckin' right along, thanks for the interest! The plant is close to 12 inches tall with 6 nodes and I'd suspect in the next two weeks I'll be seeing some preflowers.

Now at this stage of growth, resin on the leaves is pretty normal:

I didn't smoke anything down there better than what I already have at home, but it certainly was better than I expected. When I travel, I like to soak in the culture, meet people, try different local foods and try to have an authentic experience. Now whether I like the things I experience or not, it's an experience none-the-less and that's what these bag-seed plants are all about :).
