haha, seeds are always a pain, it seems like every seed in the world is very easy to pop until you only have a few left and they cost a lot of $$$

JEN COUNT ME IN!!! nice to see theres still room in the front row for me to kick my lazyboy back and take a few tokes during the show! Nice log so far. sucks about the bumpy start with the LED not being at 100% when you got it..... but thats china for you ;) Im running C99 BX1 so it will be nice to see the variation in the C99 your growing compared to mine. Once those seeds crack it will be game from there. But for sure ill be chiming in :) Keep Us Posted!

yeah ive been lurking but ill go ahead and pop a squat. never liked pucks myself, last time i popped seeds i put them straight into light soil. worked out better for me, ive hurt seeds in transfer after soaking so it eliminates that issue. i hope they come up! how old are they?

Hello

I dont care for peat pellets much myself, but I didnt make it over to the grow shop to pick up some cubes til later.

I dont like placing seeds in paper towel because Im afraid of damaging roots while transfering into grow spot ( hydro or soil )

The seeds are about 5 years old, but all my seeds are stored very well. I hope they pop soon but if they dont I will just run something else.

Enjoy the show - Jenn

Update

All 4 seeds germinated but growth is painfully slow. I rolled the dice and pitched 3 seeds leaving only one. They are female seeds so it should be female.....

Not to my surprise the Root Riot cubes outperformed the Jiffy peat pellets. I have a bag of Espoma soil that I will place the cube in because I feel the Ocean Forest is to hot for seedlings.

Attached are a few pics, nothing to get excited about. Sorry about the picture quality, it is a crappy camera.

that espoma soil dosent have anything in it nutrient wise? how come you tossed out the other seedlings, just because of slow growth? are you going to start some other seeds? all these questions huh! thanks for sharing jen, gl!

The Espoma soil contains -

Dolomite Lime
Sphagnum peat moss
Peat Humus
Perlite
7 species of Mycorrhizae

The green container I planted the seedling in is only 3.5 inches wide. I figure the seedling will be in this for 10 to 14 days and then will be transplanted into a 3 gallon container filled with Ocean Forest.

I should say the 3 other C99 seedlings have made their way into a friends garden. Im only playing with this LED grow right now. I have other seeds, im just not doing anything else right now.

Update

So its been 8 days and I decided it was time to place Cindy in her final home. She was looking a little hungry.....

I placed 8 screws in the 3 gallon container for LST support and filled the container with Ocean Forest Soil. After I placed the C99 in her new home I watered her. I had to do a few things and when I came back to look at the plant I saw a bug walking on the soil already....can you believe that s@#! Im switching to hydro after this, Ive had enough with soil...

So other than that nothing really new to show....

little C99 seedling is loving the LED. But i feel you Jenn on bugs with soil. did dwc for a while because of the little black nats. But lugging 5 gallon buckets takes a toll on the back :) But im back to my roots and digging back into the soil.

bugs suck.........hydro is not an option in hot ass fl.......res temps killed me.

i use powder DE (Diatomaceous) in my coco to control most bugs in the medium. it clumps like wet flour if not mixed into top layer of soil so be careful if you top dress any.

good luck

Update

6 days since last update, plant leaves have a skunky smell, zero fruit smell so far.....

looks like they are doing well ;)

Thanks GP

They seem to do alright under the LED, I think this might be a really good set up for someone that lives in the city with very little room, or maybe someone that rents a place and has utilities included. Your electric bill may only go up 5 dollars....

Im not going to be real happy though if this just ends up being some skunky weed, I was looking for the tropical fruit smell that I always heard about.....
