thanks CB, i admit to being pleased at the moment
she's bulking, no more stretching, about 2 feet tall
i know this is supposedly a rework, but no complaints on this nirvana strain, she fits well in a micro chamber
now the smell, the skunk smell is fading with fan leaves, something else is now definitely building
the final call on odor at harvest, 4 weeks or so? we'll see

Looking great bro! I have been doing the Cali - O for a long time and love it. I saw earlier on in this post that you have made several crosses with a cali-o male, may I ask what crosses you made?

I have a very old california orange, the clone from back in the day. I am crossing it soon with an Ace of spades male, maybe a few other brightly colored guys. Cali o is a triple threat with strong odor, great bag appeal and a great stone. Can't wait to see what Nirvanas is like!

strong odor - that i can vote yes on, strongest smell i've had(though limited number of strains i've done)
nl#5 x cali-o and PPP x cali-o, haven't grown them out yet, thinking i'd try the nl#5 x cali-o next
but these are male cali-o crosses, no idea what will result

just hit the 6 week flower line, no complaints with what i'm seeing
i know this is a defunct strain(nirvana wise), but from what i'm seeing, nirvana did a respectable job
looks to be a good yielder, and going to be some pretty bud
it's also on the interesting side where the odor gets lower with flower
but as always, it's the smoke that gets the real grade, and that's 4 weeks away, maybe
and thanks for the posts/interest for those following my small story

I remember on overgrow, the programmer, "shabang" I think his name was said that cali o was his favorite smoke. I've never smoked it but him saying that made me want to. Hope you get a nice orangey lady so you can tell me what the fuss is all about.

Good luck and nice documentation skills.

thanks for the thumbs up votes hashley and stupidboy, the positive notes perk me up this evening
and like yourself hashley, i had seen a number of comments from good growers that this strain could be something special
not sure what this particular batch from nirvana is like since i had seen posts that it had been reworked into something mediocre
but i will know for sure in another month or so, plus the cure time, but a few side buds will be sampled early

luvin the cali-o fans here, and those that have heard interesting things
time for some reflection on this now extinct nirvana strain
i'll give its due, it performed superbly in a micro setup with 78w of cfl's
and the bud aroma is beginning to mature, very interesting
when rubbed lightly, a very sweet odor is present with a little of the earlier skunk
maybe a general kind of fruity odor, but orange would be a stretch
and damn sticky, barely touched it and gummed up the fingers

I grew out a pack of Nirvana Cali-O.....and made some crosses with it.

I liked it......nice daytime smoke.....skunky/citrus taste, nice and sticky. Not the most potent, but fine as an all-day smoke.

It's a pity Nirvana discontinued it.....one of the better strains I've had from them.

very good info there Blimey, your description sounds spot on with the odor i'm smelling
which makes me hopeful the effects will be the same, uplifting day smoke but not overwhelming, got some anxiety issues and strong stuff doesn't mix so well with it

No worries on the anxiety issue.....it's a nice smooth smoke.....both on the lungs and the head. Just happy, relaxed weed.

Making NL x Cali-O is a good call. I did that cross (using Nirvana NL)....I found the two strains quite similar structurally....so no big surprises in the offspring so far...the NL adds a bit more body.....so it's more of an evening smoke.....but I've only popped a few.

sounds good to me Blimey, thanks for the info on your cross result
9 weeks and the finish line is rushing up at me
haven't even done a trichome check yet, but i think i have some runway left
pistils are turning fast, but as we know, that's just a part of the big picture
i'm using LolaGal's grow logs as my template
she grew a number of cali-o's from seed that seems to date around my order
lastly, it was the foliage that stank up the place, the bud doesn't unless you rub it
