how much longer will the basement commercial grower survive?

It doesn't have to be violent. The only true revolution is one of the mind. Once people begin to see what is happening they will respond by just stopping. Imagine a global strike, unless you are working in emergency response or something as necessary you just chill out and help your neighbors. Stop going to your cubicle.

Does that mean I can go into any dispensary & they will purchase my meds for $2,500? If I have primo kush & the like grown to perfection can I walk into any dispensary having zero relationships and sell my meds at a lower price?

delivery services are flourishing. we so called basement growers will be growing as long as there are basements and electricity. even if we have to dig the hole and generate our own electricity.

The system has dragged itself into a slow slide down the muddy hill backwards.Unless they stop cracking down somewhere, they will eventually go broke...cannabis enforcement of US citizens would help slow or stop the fowling of the legal system but still allow them to chase smugglers and hard drugs...

I agree the more the FEDS crack down on legitimate dispensaries the more biz it sends to the basement commercial growers. Anyone with the courage to grow to meet demand will be in business for some time to come.

i always use the micro brew analogy..... if weed is legal and goes corporate the will be micro grow spots that specialize in good weed not mass produced shit....

Good analogy. If you want to get drunk there is always Natty Ice or Milwaukee's Beast, but for those of us that enjoy taste, there will always be a few guys making a premium product in small batches.

I know some growers who got so sick of the low-ballers offering them outdoor prices for their indoor. So, they threw away their organic soil set up and bought flood tables, GH nutrients, PK boosters, CO2 @ 1500ppm, a trim machine, fans, heater & dehumidifier (for dry/"cure"), a tumbler, and threw away all of their elite genetics for a Big Bud clone that pushes 3#'s per 1k. Some aren't even flushing anymore.

to quote a broker a friend of mine deals with "I dont give a fuck how good it is or what strain it is. I won't pay over $3k/lb because I get the same $ for it no matter how good it is. It's all about my profits"

Its all about how hard you are willing to work & who you know. The guys in shadows will be around forever. I dont care what happens to the industry. Good quality sells no matter what. we get 5500 a # all day for some organic quality

Totally understand what your saying.....I grow indoor...Red Berry Kush....Black Grape Kush...Kypronite OG...Alien Dawg....Black Bubba OG....Earth OG.....Black Berry OG and other elite genics.....and several brokers have said....top price is 27 a unit.......and lots of low ballers....toss out lower numbers.....prior to the green house hitting the market.....32 was a reasonable number....

In talking to my buddies who grow outdoor/greenhouse elite strains....they are still commanding and getting 18-22 for their stuff......

this time of year.....I just keep planting and harvesting...and wait a few months...prices will come back.

Out in Massachusetts I get 4800 all day for Chem d hydro. I'm not willing to go lower so I have to get rid of single p's at a time instead of multiple p's. It's more of a hasstle but I was used to getting 6k all day a few years back. Those were the days. It helps to be near many university's. Still making a killing and it seems like my competition is Cali outdoor crap for 35 a p.

Ha it depends where you are and who ya know bro! When I was living in vt 3 years ago we were buying the good old AA Jerry berries for 27 and not a penny more. In fact I can only remember paying 35 for the ecsd and that was the highest I ever got quoted for an elbow.... It's funny though I'm in OR now and there's a ton of folks growing all around me with cards and without, and it's amazing how many people don't know shit, or about the newest genetics, or mj Internet forums or new techniques. I blew people away with my genetics when we got out here and I get the majority of my shit from the boutique!! Haha. So yes much like beer anybody can do it but only certain people can do it well because they have the love..... Not saying I do it well or better than most, just sayin....

That's why I'd never go out west. I still get 6k for organic soil but I don't grow a lot of soil. Main focus is RDWC. More lights and bigger plants. There's been a shit load of busts here lately. They try to make you scared but you don't get much time. I love the laws here!

Well......good information

Well....been.....thinking about my grow......you get to the point....where you either....grow for Quality only......or quanity only......because no one wants for pay for quality here is California......I could go back and grow blue dream....and yield...2 to 3 ounces per plant in SOG.....or stay with the elite genics....and keep dialing it in for yield...as the quality is there......this is what I have been working on....for about 2 years now...indoors....

I love growing.....and would hate to go back to growing for quanity.......BUT?

my power bill for my small ass 4kw room is upwards of 800 a month....and PGE keeps trying to squeeze more pennies into that higher tier rate. if i didnt have CARE i would probably stop growing indoors......thats why most folks are going to outdoor growing. the quality and methods for outdoors are getting better and better everyyear, and the prices getting lower and lower. what im buying for 1500 a LB now is what used to go for 2500 all day years ago, and sell out of state for 4200. now even the out of state guys are getting flooded by their own outdoor crops as well as cali shit...so prices all around are just real low right now.

i can still get 3k for my SFV OG kush and thats a godsend...and cookies still go for 36-38, but any other indoor strain that isnt well known is 2500 tops right now. some girl brought my friend a pretty frosty looking pack yesterday, was asking 3k but he physically could not pay more than 25 for it simply because it didnt have 5/5 on looks/smell/taste/etc....so if your pot is slacking in just ONE area, it gets lowballed. needs to have the full complement of looks + smell + taste + bag appeal + nice trim....back in the day you could get away with maybe having one area slacking...

i saw some really bad heat stressed commercial warehouse indoor GDP go for 1400 a LB last week...and i wouldnt even touch that shit because i dont want it polluting my patients, but i know theres a bunch of people out there stressing right now because they got stuck with it when theres outdoors that are better smoke... straight "beaster" smokes super harsh, no smell and very little frost...i told my friend hes gotta fire the kid whos working that warehouse because they are losing out on thousands and thousands of dollars because of his constant mistakes...how hard is it to kill every other light during a heat wave to keep temps down.
