Penn State Scandal and the end of Joe Paterno

I

Can I start my articulated position with 'whatever'?

Just what was known, when and by whom,is purely speculation and conjecture...despite the timelines (and Herman's mistresses) that CNN likes to parade around as 'news'

who wouldn't report a crime like this to law enforcement?

you go to the police, not your boss.

the assistant fucked up by not reporting to police, then paterno perpetuated it by not going to police and finally the president of the university for not going to police either...

had to be done.

Absolutely. I just haven't seen enough to tar and paper him.

Guy tells me he's seen a child raped and beat the rapist to death, that's a believable story. Guy sees a child rape and gives them their privacy..? WTF?! What do you do with that story?

I am surprised that the guy didn't mention the sounds of someone getting raped..

the boy should have screamed for help

maybe he did and it wasn't mentionned

and if he didn't, then why ?

I don't understand why someone needs to take advantage of vulnerable people

I have a hard time understanding the thrill of raping someone's ass

I'll let you guys figure that one out for me

The thing that disgusts me is that I know people that go to Penn State and grew up there and they still side with Paterno. What happened is wrong on so many counts. My one buddy called me when they were rioting, shit is going crazy up there. Students are flipping cars over and shit. This is a very bad time for PSU.

Pretty amazing coincidence that there was no news of little boy rape at PSU until a week AFTER JoePa passed Eddie Robinson to become the winningest NCAA Div 1 football coach.

I saw Franco Harris on the Ed show. Still can't make a call on Paterno. IMO, we haven't heard everything.

To paraphrase, Harris said the witness was a grad student and naturally wouldn't confront a pillar of the establishment such as Sandusky. The grad student not only told Peterno; university leaders, police and even the DA were notified. For reasons unknown, the DA chose not to prosecute. :chin:

Apparently, Sandusky was fired from the coaching staff but was allowed to use the facilities. Paterno knew of Sandusky's past and allowing him to use the facilities (for his charity) is questionable.

But here's what Harris said that I hadn't considered. Paterno took it to the authorities when it happened. He took it to university executives. He did everything then that folks are saying he should have done later when the stories resurfaced.

IMO, Harris is saying Joe wasn't required to fight the battle again when others did nothing. Sandusky was no longer a coach and the fact that the rape happened on university property is circumstantial (considering the DA did nothing to Sandusky years earlier.)

But another aspect arises. The grad-student witness went on to be an assistant coach on the payroll. Was he given a job for his silence? I bet he'll be investigated with the rest.

He used the phrase "I should of done more".....

That fact alone says he should be fired and held somewhat liable for any kids this guy fucked with anytime after paterno was told he was a pedo.

Paterno says he's all about helping kids ect....well guess what fucko....you dropped the ball....big time...

I've respected Paterno all my life. But no longer.

In my opinion, he did the bare minimum that needed to be done when he only reported this incident to the school Pres. But what I really don't get is how he could continue working with Sandusky knowing what he had done. Paterno was told the day after the incident by McQueary, yet never fired Sandusky AND continued working with him for a very long time. How can you do that without wanting to kill him? And what's with this McQueary freak? He catches the scum sodomizing the boy, and what does he do? He goes to his office and calls his daddy. What a piece of shit. And this asshole still has his job. And to go a step further his daddy doesn't tell him to go and stop him. He tells him to come home so they can talk about what he saw. Unfuckingbelievable.....

So for those of you that think Paterno did no wrong, I guess it wouldn't bother you working side by side with a man that had been caught anally sodomizing a ten year old boy...... Cause I sure as hell couldn't be anywhere near the bastard. I guess Paterno was more worried about keeping his coaching staff intact..... My only question is how many more little boys were abused after this incident? Not a one of them followed through to make sure no other children were victimized.....

Well put, JJ.

I'm getting a strong feeling that this story is going to get deeper and weirder over the next few weeks. For instance....there is some possibility that Sandusky pimped some of these kids out to rich Businessmen. If this turns out to be true, who are these rich guys going to turn out to be?

This story has way too much energy and momentum behind it for ANYBODY, no matter how wealthy and well connected, to avoid being exposed and maybe prosecuted. Whoever was involved is going to get exposed.

There are a few things I preached to all my boys.

You protect the elderly. You protect children. And you protect anyone else that you see being victimized that needs help. I tried to teach them that everyone, not just them, should have a moral responsibility to do those things.

I'd like to think that if one of my kids caught Sandusky doing this, that the call I received from them was that they put a beating on him and called 911 to get the child medical help....

This entire story goes way beyond sick. You had at least a half dozen grown men knowing this happened. And no one did anything. On top of that, Sandusky ran an organization that put him in constant contact with underprivileged and abused youth. And Paterno was on the Board of Directors. I just can't fathom all of their mindsets regarding this mess.

I could understand the loyalty if this involved a larceny, prostitution or some other crime. But this involved young children being sexually abused and their lives being destroyed. A moral person can't turn their heads and ignore this. It's not possible.

This sadly brings to mind the old saying "birds of a feather flock together". I really hope there isn't more to this. But I wouldn't be surprised. When this mess first surfaced my initial reaction was to laugh and say "there isn't a chance this can be true". Sadly enough it is..... Time tells everything........

would ve been all good if he was coaching in Harper's new omnibus canada , growing is just as bad as molesting now in cdn..... anyone need a new coach?
