Grow Cabinet

the inside dimensions of the cabinet are 4.6 FT long x 1.9 FT wide x 1.2 FT depth (front of cabinet to the back). All/some of the shelves can be removed. My current thoughts grow a sea of green on the bottom and clone/mother on the top shelf. For the mother and her clones im going to use CFL and for the sea of green im going to be using my 600 Watt dim-able ballast that can use HPS as well as MH. When the clones have roots i will use the MH bulb then change the bulb to HPS for the flowering.

Let me know if you have any ideas and/or suggestions.

I'm sorry , but your never gonna use a 600 watt light in that cabinet . the heat would be unbearable . you could put quite a few cfls ,t5 strips or PLL 's in there though with some good ventilation .

good luck dude :)

I agree with dan, even with an aircooled lamp 400 is too much for 2.28 square feet. 3 x 55 watt PLLs would be a good fit, or maybe a 150w hps with proper cooling. Good luck!

If you don't want to shell out a ton of cash since you already have the 600 ballast, you could try a bunch of 24-26 watt spiral CFLs, maybe 6-8 of them for short money, but that being said the 2 x 55 watt PLLs are about 10-15 bucks a bulb and a ballast is about 50 I think and will be more efficient for power, output, and is remote ballast, so heat is easier to deal with over 6-8 little 24 watt spiral space heaters.

I would do PLLs if it was me. However the bulbs are close to the same length as the cab so you'd have to try to mount on the diagonal or down grade to 36 watt bulbs.

ha ha!!! A friend of a friend gave me about 10 seeds and said they were SSH...didn't have time to run them so I gave them to a buddy and he has gifted me some of the first fruits. Its got a little spice and light muskyness, no lemon though, maybe it will come through with some cure.

Hey head no hijacking lol. Man a 150 would be sweet in there if you could cool it. I wish i had that much height, but a 600 is a bit much.

LED all the way

LED all the way

Atomos, you should check this link for VerdantGreen's LED grow. LEDs would be a major shift gears, but would basically allow you to split the chamber into two sections(top and bottom) with two separate lights and significantly lower heat. I agree that anything more than a 150 in that space would be a nightmare keep a level temp.

I'd go with the PLL's if I couldn't afford the LED's....as stated above....that 600 would be way too much to work with in that cab. I bet you'll get something good going on in there real soon. Best of luck!

Check my sig for some ideas. I'm running my 400w, reflector only, in a 55" wide x 19" deep x 48" tall. Last grow my space was about the size of your cab and a cool tube kept it below 80.
