Coco grow v1

Hi guys,

I've been reading this site for long enough, its time to post up a thread.

First off, the room. Its not quite done as you can see. There is roughly 4.5x7.5 for veg, and 7.5x11.5 for flower, with the door to the room opening into flower, I wish I had made it open out lol. The veg/flower sections will be panda filmed off, for now its really nice not having the 'wall' there. Veg will be running under 495w of PL-L's initially, and 1k-MH once the plants are big enough. Flower will start off with 1k and will step up to 2k once things are running smoothly and the medical card count increases. The room is in process of being sealed off (door frame issues, ugh) so that I can start using CO2 + AC, and a scrubber is going to be installed in the room this coming weekend (Phresh filter, 950CFM paired to a 750CFM fan).

Now for the plants. I have a couple of different strands from another local grower. He runs in soil and all organic, and well, the plants looked a lot better when I got them from him! The strans are a Blueberry, 2 Am Flames, a NW Mist, and 2 Columbia Reds. Currently they are being fed H3ad's formula, 6ML/Gal of Micro, and 9ML/Gal of Bloom, and also using tap water.

In the pics, the Blueberry is still in soil/organics, and it was transplanted tonight to facilitate root inspection. The rest have been in coco for 1-2 weeks.

Based on how bad they are doing, the splotching, forum posts, and finally the awesome help of a couple very kind ICMag readers, I've added CalMag at 3ml/gal as of tonight. Additionally it was suggested that I should flush with a good volume of water at ~PH6 and no nutrients, and then follow up with a full dose of nutrients as well as CalMag, which will be added to every feeding here on out. I also liberally applied CalMag via foliage feeding, a bit strong perhaps, 10mg/gal. It'll be knocked back or removed entirely in the future (spray, not normal feedings of CalMag).

*Tap water - 7.6pH and 0.2 EC.
*10/16 - Fed with 0.43 EC (1/2 strength no CalMag) 5.57pH, and runoff was 0.70EC, 6.35pH
*10/17 - Fed with 0.28 EC (1/4 strength no CalMag) 5.35pH, and runoff was 0.53EC, 6.24pH
*10/18 - 2 Cups of 0.20 EC (0 strength, just adjusted pH-wise) 5.8pH water. Runoff came down to about 0.35 EC / 6pH, roughly. I forgot to write that number down. I think it should still be a good bit lower but its a start. They were then given about 3/4 cup of full strength nutrients + CalMag.

Also: RH is holding at 40-45% and temps are 78-79. I am running 24/0 currently. To maintain temps at this time, the room has an exhaust fan.

Thanks for reading, I'd love any input. Hopefully things look better tomorrow. Oh also, sorry for the wacked out pictures. I've never shot under fluros before and I did a piss poor job. I hope that shapes up soon lol.

Not a lot more to post. Fed tonight (2 nights since last feeding on the 18th) with about 1.5 cup of water each. They still look horrid. New growth looks alright, but its looked fine all along, it takes a few days for it to start to look shitty. I'm strongly hoping new growth continues to look better.

Input: 5.7pH / 1.15EC
Output: 6.14pH / 1.05EC

This new growth that looks burnt kind of worries me. Could it be due to the proximity between the PL-L's and the top of this plant?

Temperatures, Rh are fine. PH range is fine.

You have a lot of deficiencies goes on.
Most specifically: Zinc, Manganese, Iron, and Magnesium deficiencies are causing N-P-K toxicity.

You need to boost your micro nutrients. In soil I'd flush with a 1/2 strength solution with Lilly-Miller plant starter, Molasses, and some H2O2. All are used in organic gardening so won't fuck up your medium.

So basically you need to flush out the excess N-P-K and boost Zn-Fe-Mn-Mg at the same time. The LM Plant starter and Molasses both contain Chelated minerals that help uptake mobile nutrients.

Rom when you wait the 2 days to water how dry is the coco. The leaves look like they are over watered. Like how they droopy. Or could also be from micro nutes.

Then again a sure way to make sure they are getting exactly what they need is to get an RO system. You can guess all day what is in your tap water and never know 100%. Hoping to see them get well soon.

It's pretty darn dry. Maybe I should feel deeper, but the top inch or more is dry for sure. And they take a pretty decent volume to result in runoff.

However, I know for darn sure I was overwatering the hell out of the poor things their first 7-10 days with me...

As of tonight, new growth looks better. The coco is dry on top and wet under the surface. They're going to get a light CalMag spray and a trim of the dead shit (pre/post pics to be uploaded when I'm home). I'll reevaluate the situation tomorrow. I'm thinking maybe 2x pot volume of 1/2strength nutrients.

Regarding RO, I had been putting it off because my soil friends on the same water have zero issues. I've started researching what one will be best for my volume of water and budget, and also how I'm going to plumb it into my room. The APEC RO90 with 14gal tank from FreeDrinkingWater.com looks alright for the price, tho I've barely researched it. Tonight I'll be hitting the Google in regards to it. I wish I had the nearly-new unit the post-sale remodelers threw out at my folks old house!! I have no idea of the brand, but my old man over researches the hell out of things and then buys top shelf...

You probably don't need an RO system. Home dePot has a two cartridge system that has worked great for me. I think they run about $139 now, and replacement cartridges are about $40 every 3 months.
