Hi guys, I have a new room I am going to be working on.

I followed Yes215s thread, as its close to the dimensions im working with, but not exactly. So that thread gave me alot of insight.

Lighting is what is bugging me.

Do I use x2 2kw hoods,? Or should I go with x4 600s?
I already own all of these sizes, so its just a matter of figuring out my own personal Tetris game with these hoods.

Would you suggest bare bulbs? Im all ears on that stuff, but would like to stick with what I own, as you can imagine.

I have read x4 600s would cover more area, which makes sense. But is it worth doing 4, 600s or just the 2 2kw? lol

And im pretty sure I couldnt do anymore than 2kw in that room? Id like to be near 4kw if possible. I just think if I did that, id lock myself out from getting around to the other side or something just inconvienent.

Hope I can get some input on this. Im afraid 4kw is out of the question?

Im a 600 user and love them.. There more efficient then the 1k's.. My yields are fantastic whats not to like about them... Your style of growing,The strains you choose and setup will impact the Yield.. Screens and training helps a whole lot...

Are you planning on using the whole 10x10 for flowering ?

what type of grow method are you going to use ? (ie trays, DWC ?)

these things would play into my answer on lighting.

I do soil and usually use Botonicare trays just to be cleaner. May or may not use them this round. But, soil it is, usually in 5Gal's.

And yes the whole room for Flower.

edit- just thinking... maybe no trays, this will allow me to have more room to work with? Im fine with no trays if you think it will allow me to eek out a bit more light or whatever.

It would be possible but kind of cramped to slam (2) 4x8 trays in there. I personally am a fan of 1k more light means more weight. More weight means more revenue. Even if it isn't as efficient as a 600 you will still be bring in more. Just my :2cents: .

Other than that would love to see some pics. I just got done building a two room build out check my sig for pics and ideas. Any questions drop me a line I have been working in the HVAC business for 10 years now.

I only top my plants 2x max... I bring in 6-8oz per plant in 8g pot. if I used a screen and trained them I could get 10-12 per plant. I only grow 6 plants thats my limit for staying state legal.

If all four lights would be on at the same time .... I like the idea of 2 - 4' x 8' tables with 2 lights over each table . 600's on 1 table & 1000's over the other . you'd need alot of ventilation but its doable . :)

Thats pretty cool, never thought of that. Going to draw that up and take a look.

Maybe per table, a 600 and a 1000.
Facing ^ table, a 1000 600.

Opposite facing each other. Cool , let me draw that brotha, thanks

Question if someone doesnt mind helpin :blowbubbles:

This has to do with my design so its something I feel I should ask.
Firstly, do any of you ever use run off trays for each individual pots anymore? ( soil ).

I use trays and always have , but I feel like I can get a bit more spacing without my Botanicare trays. Which is why I ask about run off trays for individual pots.

If I did individual trays, Id be concered about roots not drying:thank you:.

 thanks

I have never done that (I purchased Botanicare trays for my build as I am going to be running 1k's which cover the 4x4 nicely) but I have seen some comments about it here on IC. What you want to do is either put blocks (brick, wood, concrete, etc) under the pots, in the runoff trays. I saw a post about some metal frame to lift the pot up also, but I've never seen those for sale. In my small tray, that is a HomeDepot concrete mixing tub, I use 2x4's under the plants to ensure they drain into the tub->out the drain, and ensure no water stands under the pots. The bottom of the tray is bone dry within a couple hours of being watered anyway, FWIW, at least in veg/lights on.

Another concern that I overlooked is. With trays, im worried about some of the Sativa's I have and a couple others I know that get huge. With the trees, and rest basically bushes, im worried about canopy. And how close the Trees are to the lights compared to the other stocky broads.:dance013: Which were my thoughts on individual run off trays, then spacing came to mind etc lol.

Logical thought for sure. I'd look at drip/runoff dishes, my local stores carry them at a very fair price. A couple blocks of wood or cement will do the trick to ensure the pot doesn't sit in standing water.

I use pvc tee's to keep my plants out of water. They are easy to clean and I have them on hand. If you want to clean the water out of the tray use a turkey baster.

When I do a grow I use all of the same strains. I want to make sure that I can keep and even canopy and keep the light as even as I can amongst the plants. You can use different strains under different lights so that you are able to move the light up that one type gets bigger.

As far as trays go. I have a 4x8 and a 4x4 tray. In the 4x8 I have (32) 3 gallon pots and (16) in the 4x4. My trays drains into a condensate pump that pumps the water out to my washing machine drain. For me the trays are an easy to to collect the run off of all of my plants. Individual trays just seem like a pain in the ass.

Hope this helps
