control box question

Hi everyone just have some quick questions.

Im trying to up my up my flower room to 3x600w and that would put me at 17.5 amps which is well beyond the 80% on a 15amp breaker.

So either I can run wires from another room which is on a 15 amp breaker or add a breaker in the control panel.

Is there room in this panel for a new breaker? 120v and 240?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

I am no expert Cody but it looks like you have 2 slots available. I would run a 240v 30 amp breaker (double slot like the ones you have on right side), which would give you the ability to run 4K with a light controller board and free up the 15 amp you are using for accessories. Thats my opinion. Either way you go it looks like you have some room left to play around as long as the total power you are using never peaks over the main breakers limit.

Sounds good - just remember that the 80% rule for continuous loads applies to the breaker feeding that panel, too.

Shop where hammer head is shopping. I have one of his units enroute and he is a knowledgeable legit dude.

You can score a 4k 30 amp controller for about 140-160 from DX. He makes them safer and cheaper with better parts then the units most grow shops carry.

Did your controller arrive?? I bought one and I had to redo the whole pannel. NOT GOOD NEWS AT ALL The outlets where wrong. He used 240v 15a going to a 30a 240v breaker. I had to change all of the outlets to 20a 240v and change out the 1 30a to 2 20 amp. I feel so much safer with the upgrades I did. Even the wire from the breakers could not handle 30a 240v. I had to change all of the wiring. If you need any help fixing yours let me know..

you need to cut off the end and put on a 240v 3 prong plug. disconnect all of the wires to the outlets those are the wrong kind. you need 6-20r. Looks like brn and blu are the hots and gre/yellow is the ground. So when you get the new 240v outlets wire those the same blu and brn are the hots.

Thank you so much hammerhead you've been such a great inspiration to me. THANK YOU!

So this is already wired for 240v? I thought it looked like it but wasnt sure. And to the outlet note. All my 240v ballast came with 120v cords and this would be a god send if I didn't have to worry about these and check it off my list.

I have my relay and these so I just need a project box a timer and some wire :) this beats buying it already assembled

Thanks again

I dont think so that end contector is something I have never seen...those red outlets are not 240v there 120v...

Man I must be wording this wrong. I know these are regular 120v outlets but I know its possible to wire these 120 to 240. 2 hots and a ground. It looks like two hots and a ground in there already. So just cut end off and hook it up to relay? I just need to know I'm not crazy and im moving in the right direction. Thanks again hammer
