SoCal desert climates also are happy places for mites. Low humidity, and high temps are well loved by the buggers, so control is as good as I can get in the greenhouse unless the strain has its own ability to fend them off.

can u use peppermint castile soap? or do i need a uncented castile version, the reason i ask is because if i can get new soap plus have it be a miticide then thats money well spent otherwise ill get some neem i guess n a spray bottle and start as folks have said just work with nature n stay consistant in your attempt to keep there population down.

You can bring your plant back inside if you are willing to put in some work, check out www.koppert.ca for info on biological controls (insects that eat other insects (or mites in your case)). Check out 'persimilis', they are predatory mites. lol unless you are sketchy about releasing more bugs in your house

Wow nice first post homie !! Why did you wait 2 years?

Peace

der...if you're going to use the Peppermint consider testing it on a sacrificial plant first. The peppermint should have a profound effect on the mites...I know Dr B's is strong and needs to be highly diluted.

If you don't feel like messing around and worrying about the peppermint burning the tissue...use the unscented.

Why not use the unscented as the emulsifier for the neem oil if you have them already...(that one's for Coot ha ha love ya' man)

Apply your sprays on every leaf surface area of the plants, the soil the stems, the floor, the walls, the pots...everything...@ least twice a week with the lights OFF.....for @ least 3 weeks for total wipeout. Once a month for prevention in veg. or early flower.
Rock on

I've been lucky enough that the only mites I've had (twice that I've noticed) were predator mites. Hope I never get those little devils, but I'm sure the day will come.

Hey man - I had a very small amount of mite infestation due to some infected clones. I saw that capsaicin is a miticide as is thyme oil and garlic oil. I blended 1 liter water, 5 jalapenos, 1/2 clove of garlic and a few fresh thyme sprigs in a blender, then filtered out the solids. Put it in a spray bottle and sprayed the tops and bottoms of all leaves once a day every three days for three days. It's brutal on the lungs, but I'm mite free three weeks later.

Low cost, and the solution doesn't affect the leaves or new growth at all - you just get some white particulates from the jalapeno fine material. It's easily washed off with a distilled h2o spray.

I also bought a new fan so that all plants were getting breeze all the time as a prophylactic. Temps are getting lower, too, so added prevention there.

It all worked for me, but probably not scientifically vetted.

Neem in vege. Seen mites on infected clones, gone in a week thanks to the oil from that beautiful tree.

As for the peppermint soap, sure, it's what I use,.... Not sure if it makes the Neem stink more or less, but who cares.

how much peppermint do u use in one liter of water, i put a drop in a glass, added water and poured some of this water into my neem water, its smelled minty and hasent burned my plants, so are u added more then a few drops to your water per liter? thx for the help again everyone.

I use the Doctor Bronners soap, not sure if that makes a difference.

I probably use about 10-15 drops per 32oz spray bottle.
