What's new

New setup :-D Pretty excited

Hello brothers and sisters...

Il19z8rn4li1 is back with another grow setup that is about to be built and pieced together to form an amazing environment for some beautiful gifts from mother nature :-D :-D

EDIT>>>

Hello everyone. Finally found my camera charger, and finally got my computer to accept my camera again....

The pictures show the room.. what you see is it.

I got 18x 5gallon buckets with a RDWC setup.
Each bucket has a white 1in PVC Drain at the top... roughly just under 4 gallon mark
Each drain is dropped straight into a 3in PVC main return line.
Each bucket is feed by 2x 1/4in lines
I have 2x 500gph water pumps, each pump runs 9 buckets.
Each bucket will have its own air stone, 18 buckets bubbled from an Eco Plus 7 air pump

For lighting ill have 3x 600 watt digital ballasts.

Thats about it for now. Ill most likely redo this first post again once I get the setup fully complete and ill take pics of each component.

Cheers friends.

(First 2 pics = before math of the room.
3 4 and 5 show work in progress
6 shows drain and feed holes
7 shows all buckets setup drying
8 just a shot of under the buckets the feed lines. )

imo, i'd space the 2 rows of buckets out a little bit if u wanna scrog.
unless you dont have the room to walk in there if u do it like you drew it up.

I'm just curious dude, not knockin at all, but one could straight scrog that space with 5-6 plants.....would just make for a slightly simpler system, less water, less etc. I do understand your intention is a scrogged sog, lest my question impart the impression that I'm not gettin it.

Wanting to do something different, or are you thinking that things will fill up faster this way?

Nice work on the sketch too!

thanks for the comment brother man..

this is exactly what im looking for.. people to become
devils advocate :-D It will only better my design for when
construction starts.

So.. to reply to your comment... i would have to say.. that I have grown for a while now..im far from a noob but not quiet an expert yet either though. Dont let my post count mislead you.

I have gotten great results with SOG and SCROG...
In comparison they are pretty damn close with the same
strains. Granted each strain has its best method of cultivation.

BUT... with SCROG i have just noticed that the over all time is about 1-2 weeks longer... since I have to wait for the screen to fill out.

with SOG though... i try and limit exactly how far the lights are away from the plant... in turn making sure that the buttom of the plants... do not exceed the LIGHTS 90% power range...

which on a 600watt HID light.. its 90% power range drops
drastically when your more then about... 30-33 inches away from the bulb.

So with this setup im estimating that as long as I m no further then 40inches from top of the plants at all times... I can happily assume that I have a SOG style..

Combine a screen into the mix... this will allow me to fill out each bucket lid completely if not almost completely with buds and arms of the plant.

kinda get my drift... wish my camera worked at the moment lol.

cheers.

:), don't get me wrong dude! I AM a newbie, only have 3 indoor runs under my belt...just like to talk canna, and was just intrigued by your thought process.

I'm curious to see how it goes for ya bro, and I'd never knock a guy for trying something new....that's how the magic happens.

Very interesting. I've scrogged, never sogged, and even that I consider to have been a semi-fail attempt. There's an art to it, and like you said, it takes time, so I figured that was what you were thinking....Sort of find a way to drop that time waiting for the screen to fill, yet still get the same benefit. Hard to argue with a goal like that, good luck! Looking forward to watching!

PS Glad you took no offense, I was a little concerned cuz that certainly wasn't my intent

You should be able to get a lot closer to your plants with the bulbs and tubes! 3ft away is far even if your using hoods. You should be ok at 24 inches or less if possible by the looks of the pot placement in your pots.

Seems like your only gonna have 12 square inches per plant....is it a micro scrog that your trying to do?

Can't pm you but, I try never to judge a man by the size of his post count :)

Hehe exactly, im a gardener by livelyhood and by passion, so
I always am experimenting finding the best for me, for thats
all i can really find, as well as anyone else.

A lot of people read on here and come to believe they are going
to become the next best grower or something like that. Some of
my buddies are like that lol.. i try and tell them.. "yo..this shit takes time brother man.... be patient and learn to READ the plants... be able to communicate with them"

like you said.. it is an art, thats for sure... I believe
that is why not everyone has a "Green Thumb" ;-D Mines other thumb is pretty Blue ;-)

Thanks for the eyes and comments brother man :-D
Cheers

12 sq inches?? hum I failed to mention that that
is just a sketch and that its not at all to scale.

The buckets im using are about 10inchs wide... 100 sq inches.

Between each bucket is going to be about 1 inch.

So each "PLANT ZONE" is roughly 12inches by 12inches...

12 x 12 = 144... sq inches per plant.

I know that this might not be fully visible right now.. but
think of the "screen" more so as a "CAGE" .. like a tomato cage... just with mj lol

Might have to settle for some shitty cellphone pics.... but meh watever.

The construction starts shortly..

Wiring and electrical concerns have all been taken care of and are no more an issue.

Thank you everyone who has helped me with my electrical work.

100"2 for a 10" diameter pot, that not how you work out an area of a circle, what is it radius x pie 2? ah but it works in squares as youve pointed out! prolly best to really.

lol, i best go home, just i saw the circle math, dont even know where i got that from now lol, before reading the rest of ya post lol, ill stfu now!, like ya cab design btw. G'luck, C'ya!

Just use individual timers for each light!

Two ballasts on one circuit and one on the other.......you can place the individual timers in each receptical of the dual outlet of the first circuit and do the same with the single ballast of the other which should be dual receptical too so it'll run your fans, etc!

There's no rule saying everything has to be run on one timer!

I did mean a foot square in my other post....I should have used 1sq ft instead.

Thank you my friend I seem to have figured out what it is I am going to be doing.

You see I want all of the lights on one timer merely because I want them all to turn off at the same time.
meh i just got OCD lol

I have figured out what it is that I will be doing now :-D Ill be posting updates shortly.

It is similar enough to mine how can I not like it? I use the same clone to avoid the separate pots.
Three plants every 8" zigzag fashion in a 17" wide by 34" long tray, 12 per tray.
This allows more overall media available to the roots. Also makes for an immovable trayfull of plants when they reach 12".

But the idea behind my method is what you stated, combo of time versus yield.
The differences come from local conditions, room size available, heat dissipation, etc.
But the core idea of bigger than sog, smaller than scrog, high density grow, this works.

www.dxhydro.com is the ticket !!!!!!!!!!!! will do custom, flip -flops ,and all peace

Thanks my friend, ya someone PMed me those guys.

Thanks for stopping by brother man. Always interesting growing in tight places :-D Really shows ones skills that's for sure.

Here is a quick little update on the room. Id say the room is about
90% finished.. last 10% is finishing it up to make it look presentable.

Tomorrow is the day it should be really finished up.

I took a little video of the setup so you can check that out and
whats going on so far.

The plants that are in there.. have been in flower for the past ... 4weeks now. They are a bit shabby...they have been getting moved
around quiet a bit lately. Im just gonna let these finish in this room, they will be sitting up to the right of the buckets.
They're all in coco besides the one monster one on the back right, its in a DWC, drinks about 1/2 gallon a water a day.

You can get a nice image of what im working with here. This is
pretty much how it will look for 1-2 runs. Then once I save up some money im going to update it with new buckets and some
nice reflective material FULLY around the room. I might just throw up some white paper on that black plastic part.

I haven't hooked up the Co2 yet, once room is 100% done and sealed is when ill jump on the Co2.

I got myself a little veg room also, that I got 2x 18gal DWCs bubbling away. Each tub has ...i think 10 ports for plants. So 20 total. I got 20 in there now....they all had a little issue with some slime/root rot, im thinking its more so on the root rot since there used to be in tubs that were much shorter.... and the water just didnt seem to healthy to me... got some brownish roots from it.

Def hurt my vegging plants, I believe its been 2 weeks now and they are FINALLY starting to look healthy again and seem to be growing a little faster now. Im seeing some new root growth as well so that's a good sign.

The water I got here where I live now took me a few months to get used to...the PPMs out of the tap are 450.... so I was forced to collect rain water. NOW what I didnt know about my LIVING rain water in DWCs... is that it should be ran WITHOUT plants in it for at least 3-4 days...

This is what I have found to be more accurate for me at least.

Welll...seems like im rambling a bit here.. so ill rap it up and post some goodness when its worthy.
