How do I calculate for size of dehumidifier?

I'm not sure what you're getting at but a mini split removes humidity when it's in cool mode or dehumidify mode the same way any other type of AC does.
No system removes the air to dehumidify it, unless I'm misunderstanding you:confused:

sorry dude, i have only ever used portable AC... this sucks air in one side blows hot air out its ass and cool air out the front... i assumed this was how it dehumidifies the air as you get the water build up in a tank or run away feed.... i thought with a split unit you have a head in the room with 2 pipes going to the motor with the fan in ect i thought this done all the work and pumped the cold air to the head that then pumps it out in your room... thus not exchanging any air like the portable unit does...

sorry for jacking your thread Spanishwilly :ying:

NO no, you're correct, a mini split does not exchange air like a portable.

Willy,

Your AC will dehumidify, but I think all this calculation is unnecessary. Find reviews on dehumidifiers, then, based on quality units, use mfgr specs to determine the size unit you need based on your room size. I would go for overkill, and get with one that has a humidistat. When determining capacity of unit you need, use room size as if it were an un-air conditioned basement, then go up one size.

I use an AC, that of course runs much less in the winter. I set the humidistat on my dehumidifier, and leave it on 24/7 during bloom, and it keeps my room in the low 40% range if I want it that low.
I spent $200 on my LG unit that has kept my 8x12' room dry when needed for 4 years. Good luck. -granger

Yeah I see your thinking, but industrial dehueys aren't really rated by the manufacturers for a room size. They're simply rated by litres per day in optimum conditions.
It looks like I will have to do as you say in one respect and get more dehumidification than I need. The question no one seems to be able to answer still is, how much is that? I can see I'm going to end up just adding more until it works. That seems crazy but there you go.

one bit of advice willy dont bother with the shit $200 units as i got 3 in the end and the amount of heat they chuck out and they really only remove a quarter of what they say they do in 24 hours... how big is your room?

sealed rooms are a hell of a drug...
now that ive totally derailed the thread

some air exchange will be necessary between building and garden products off-gassing and even trying to get CO2 levels to ambient at night and continuous growth sealed rooms are even trickier still this shit can drive a gardener crazy believe me

Yeah,
I'm not really getting anywhere with this thread am I? I just hope your earlier post turns out to be what I needed to know, as I have some serious overkill on my AC. Still just guessing with the other it looks like.
I'll just keep doubling it till it works I suppose.

this whole misquoting thing is a trip... lol

if you want a specific recommendation, then give us some details... how many are you firing, how many under each, what's the volume you are feeding, how big is the a/c & how much water is rated for, what are your running temps & rh range in the room, what about the ambient for your region, u running a deuy now/what size?

but really, if you want a solid investment... look at the thermastor units... less likely you will need to get a bigger unit this way & less add-back heat vs the smaller units.

I'm not sure what misquotes you mean. When you push the "quote" button it just quotes, no?
Anyway, I don't want specific recommendations for dehueys. What I really want, and all I have asked for, is a way to calculate what I need for myself.
It's clear your understanding of a CGE and mine are different and that's ok.
Thermastor doesn't deal in Europe, and as you've probably noticed from my original post, it doesn't matter, because I'm not looking for brand recommendations.
Thanks again
