Outdoor Buds vs Indoor Buds?

its a lummens thing, a lamp will never have more lummens than the sun but i guess indoor is best for doing experiments (becouse you control various parameters) as well as keeping us away from jail.
also there are a lot of specific genetics for indoor growing, take chronic from serious seeds for example, if its grown outdoors you will probably get bud rot, so indoor gives us the chance to grow different genetics from different latitudes and parts of the world. try to grow an indica 100% landrace in a very tropical and humid area

I grow indoors and out and one thing about inddors is I'm not to having spray all kinds of crap on my girls to fight bugs, mold, blight and such. Plus I see a lot of bug parts and poops on my outdoorr when cleaning. Greenhouse I think could produce the cleanest and superior buds. Indoors can also produce top shelf, not really an argument there.

The most noticeable thing I have seen is a different terpenes profile from outdoor... They smell stronger and taste stronger. There Are alot of outdoor growers that flood the market with low grade. This gives all outdoor a bad rep... If you take the time to care for your outdoor it will be as good or better then indoor...

Indoor is for pussies :D
Outdoor is where the plant is born to be ;)
...and do it organic folks

A few years ago a friend had an amazing outdoor grow from a late planted clone. The bud was some of the tightest I've seen, hardly any leaf small silver buds with yarn-like red pistils. I recall showing a dried cured bud to a friend and him telling me it was fake pot.

As many others have said, outdoor planted in a good location and tended by someone knowledgeable, in a good growing year can be amazing. In my parts at least, outdoor gets a bad name because a lot of people neglect the plant from start to finish. Interesting to note the year of the best outdoor harvest in my area was the year every farmer lost their corn to mold.

its all subjective and based on who grows it....the outdoor i grew this year was by far better than some of the commercial indoor crap ive seen around.....but the indoor i grow is far far superior to the outdoor....

also depends where its coming from...california has ideal outdoor climates so a good grower can pull serious quality that most people would have NO idea its outdoor..

heres some pics of the same strain SFV OG kush side by side....the outdoor version and the indoor version.....

heres the outdoor SFV, a little leafier than id like, but the taste/frost is really nice and simiilar to the indoor..top notch smooth kushy smoke i love it, its better than lots of crappy, heat stressed, premature indoor i see around sometimes..

heres the indoor version...much denser tighter nugs and the smell is just insane, the indoor version can get upwards of 1k per LB higher than the outdoor...the leaf to calyx ratio on the indoor is also better

keep in mind that this is just with one strain and one grower...certain strains do turn out better outdoors, others do better indoors...its all subjective its impossible to make blanket statements..anyone who does (like most dispensary owners) are ignorant!

I do both, but prefer outdoors on many levels. Outdoor can be just as good as indoors. The problem I see is that so much outdoor is produced in very large quantities, and when large quantities are involved, quality suffers.

At our latitudes you are never going to have the bag appeal that indoor will give. The imponderables can be controlled indoors but not out.We live in a consumerist world & packaging is more important than content to most. Personally I prefer to smoke part of the landscape in which I live. It matters only to me.

man the high from the outdoor SFV i grew is way more intense than the indoor version....outdoor is straight headrush knock you down type of high, lasted at least 2-3 hours which is pretty amazing. after a few rips in the roor i could barely motivate myself to leave the house or make lunch, good medicine for real patients but a little too heavy for daytime smoking and productivity!

but my indoor version has a more balanced high that has nice euphoric mental high combined with a good stone.....a nice mind elevation that sparks creativity and you can still get things done, however with too much it does turn into semi paranoia anxiety and crashes with a couchlock naptime feeling after 2 hours..

both taste very good...outdoor is more sour, indoor more lemon kush mint.....its funny because my outdoor SFV only selling for 100 an OZ right now since its not the most bag appeal, kinda leafy. indoor sells for more than double that...

Is it possible that SFV is of genetics that perform better indoors than outdoors? If so, it would be interesting to see an experiment with a strain well suited for both indoors and out.

my thoughts are right on with that, except same price (in vs. out)

simply put indoor looks better but outdoor has better affect imo.

would trade bag appeal for better buzz any day.

same grower, same strains that is..

yea indoors SFV swells up nice and fat, good leaf to calyx ratio...outdoors she still has that nice limey mint smell but definately more leaf. when packing a bowl i gotta pick through all the leaves to get to the nugs....

i personally like the high of the indoor version better...has a more creative feel to it. i did a few sober taste tests this past week to feel the effect of the first days smoke....outdoor SFV is definately on some put your ass to sleep high. it was picked a little earlier than we would have liked, not sure if that had anything to do with it....my indoor was solid 8-9 weeks golden trics...

again this is just this strain. i will be doing more indoor vs outdoor grows.....we also did cherry pie but its practically the same thing indoors/outdoors. some outdoor cherry pie were traded for 25 a pop that i saw...extremely high for outdoors while most people are dumping for teenage prices...i have nugs of both some indoor cherry soil grown and some outdoor cherry soil grown....all in fox farms. they are nearly identical but the indoor has a nicer density and plushness to it....both smell amazing and the high is heavy narcotic on both

As far as the market and "looks" indoor is where its at. Im on the north east coast and ive never seen that really dense trichome coated outdoor, however im 100% sure its possible here at 45n you just gotta have the right strain. Its all about starting a bunch of beans, of proven outdoor genetics for your latitude, and keeping the holy grail from a large selection.

If i was a consumer i would much rather buy an oz of medium potency fluffy outdoor for 180 than pay 300-400 for any indoor....thats just my preference though

I think the indoor environment brings out more of the indica qualities , perhaps making some indoor appear stronger than some outdoor .

I think its the same where i grow outdoors ,, our winters/springs produce buds that seem more indica ,
the longer days in our summer , the herb has a more sativa high ...

anyhows , heres an outdoor bud ,, its not lacking in resins , density or anything else that i can see ...

Toker - AFAIK there are plenty of indoor lights that put out far more lumens and more "available" lumens than the sun...

WPA, that's a silly statement. There are plenty of places aside from California capable of producing A grade buds.. California doesn't have some insanely unique climate, there are plenty of places around the world with very similar conditions/latitude/longitude...

I stand corrected... what i meant to say is california has a very good growing climate for the united states (dont think im moving out of the states)... so good that if your strain selection is decent, your a decent grower, and you have a mild/late fall you can pull some serious bud.

Up here in washington I have had two failed crops and one half success this year (only about 30% finished, the other 60% was either hash, or trash). and these last two outdoor grows have taken away from my indoor so much that unless I have the perfect property and the money to properly set up a nice big hoop house I wont grow outdoors next year. Its just too much work and money for at best a half lb of meds and more BHO than I know what to do with.

Every time I think I know what i'm doing mother nature comes in and throws me a curve ball that i'm not ready for.

I think outdoor growing is hands down the best way to grow, but its not easy, and its not cheap.

I've always thought that the main difference between indoor and outdoor is that indoors, the second the lights come on, the plant is getting full light. Outdoors, a plant may get wonderful sunlight, but when it's flowering, it might only get 8 hours of direct sunlight. It's always just been my speculation, so I don't really have any facts to back it up. Never (really) grown indoors, so can't judge that. Outdoors in soil works for me.
