Micro 350W CFL vert

This is my first grow. I bought six Lambs Bread clones from the dispensary. They were put in 1 gal pots with good organic soil and vegged for a week before put into 12/12. Right now they have been flowering for a month.

The space is 1.5' x 2' x 4'. There are 350W of CFLs hanging in there. Because of what I've seen on this forum and others I decided to go vert.

I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Thanks.

I think it would be better to have two levels in there and grow horizontal maybe two plants scroged but the buds look good.

Suggestions;

Use much more specialised dirt to start off with. Say 50 liter per plant roundabout. This will help te keep them green during the round.

The wooden contruction of the room. When you start humidifying the wood wil start to rot. Since you (probably) need more humid air to get a decent result of your pants during veg and early flower i would cut the wood out and replace it with water resistant materials.

In the long term this is a very valid point, esp if water stands in the bottom of the cabinet much. However, we are talking years before it actually rots. Keep it dry inside and paint it once a year with good paint and it will last a long time. I've been running in particle board cabs for two years and am just now seeing any signs of water exposure....Time to bleach em out and give em a fresh coat of paint. Use a paint that combats mildew and your almost golden. Also check out Tilt's vert pll grow. Looking pretty good for 4 weeks with cfl's. Got some nice golf balls brewin there.

For your next run, maybe mount a stud in the center of the box, and run a bunch of cheap surface mount bulb sockets like DrBudGreengenes, myself and many other micro guys use. Just stack em one after another up and down the post and then surround the post with plants. Or maybe go with Pll's and do five tubes and 4 plants like the guys with the 5K tree setups. It would be interesting to watch for sure.

Some background on me here, i've been a professional cabinetmaker/woodworker/finisher for almost 20 years. I'm very familiar with wood and engineered wood products and their applications.

PeterGriffin843 - Yeah two levels sounds like it would work well. But I think I'm going to expand my box for my next run. I could use up to 600W. I could use up to 1/2 of my closet which is 2' x 10' x 8' high. I've been doing lots of research to come up with ideas on how to design this space, and am still brainstorming. It's amazing to see the talent here at this forum, it's been so helpful.

HushemFlupskluk - Thanks for the comment about the wood. I think as long as I have good airflow in there and keep the paint in good shape it will be ok. I never spill water or get anything wet in there besides the soil. I repair and remodel homes for a living. I live on the coast and lots of my work here is dry rot repair, haha. I better not let my own cabinet rot!

311devon- I'm going to read the grow you linked now. I've been through Dr.Bud's stuff and learned a ton there. I like the stud in the center of the box idea a lot. Thanks for comparing my buds to golf balls! That's what I'm hoping to have soon!

I'm going to surround those lights with plants on all sides. Looks like there's room. I have some new clones vegging.

That nug is looking pretty frosty. Nice work. After coming back to your thread and looking things over again, I think you might be better off running a single 400w CMH vertically or maybe two 250's stacked rather than a pole full of cfls. Probably have the same or more light and less power consumption. I'm running a 400 CMH vertically in a 3 x 3 room Vscroggin for the win now and have been putting a clone or two in there out of my DrBud box for the last week of flower. Its really adding weight and density to my nugs, and this is 22" away from the bulb! CMH runs cooler than HPS and the bulbs are cheaper. Give it a look, you might pull some real monsters outta there this way. Just an idea, take what ya like and leave the rest....

Thanks all! It'll be dry enough by tomorrow to smoke a bowl. I should get a better camera than this $20. one to really show the bud once it's cured. It's really beautiful and smells like sugar. Super sweet with a bit of vanilla. I have two carbon filters going and when someone walks in my house they stop and go, "woah."

Thanks for the advice 311devon. Sounds like a good idea to switch to a real light. Your 3 x 3 sounds awesome.

This little grow was a good test for me to get in super cheap and start the process of finding out how I like to grow. The only problem I'm having with vert is my eyes are becoming super sun-sensitive. I didn't realize what it was from until I read the sticky! Doh! I have some super dark sunglasses now to wear when looking in the box with the lights on.

I'm impressed, it looks like you've done a pretty good job with this. My only idea is that the lights actually touch the plants if they won't burn them. In my grow a couple buds grew 3 or less inches from an uncooled 1000s hps without burning so far and it runs 600 degrees. With those cfls can you actually put them on the plants? Lumen intensity I'm told make a world of difference.

I can put the 42 watt cfls about 2 inches from the plants before they burn.

I picked three colas at 8 weeks. The rest will flower another week or two.
Quick-dried it tastes like pine trees and is super stoney, a little psychedelic.
