A rare photo captured the Northern Lights and Milky Way in the same image. It was snapped by an amateur photographer, who also points out a third visual surprise -- a meteor streaking across the sky. It was taken in Ifjord, Finmark, Norway. (Courtesy Caters News)

we don't see much milky way here in mn but we sure as hell see a lot of northern lights, usually drag the bong outside and fire it up under the light show.

green, blue, yellow, red dancing in the sky, just spectacular.

quite often they can be forecast a day or two in advance and your local meteorologist will often mention this, get your asses as far north as possible to see it, away from big city lights, out in the country you have to be.

Nice pic.

My granny first saw northern lights when my mom was a little kid. Granny thought the world was coming to an end and started running... gawd knows where. Mom said all the kids were astonished and even more frightened that granny had run off and left em.

Granny was a great mom but she musta flipped her wig pretty hard to (if only momentarily) abandon 7 children.
