Of the chemicals that i know to be toxic the one i was most interested in was the Benzene. Mostly b/c i KNOW that it is one of the nastiest things our planet has to offer.

Let me just say again; everyone here is an adult and entitled to their own opinion of what they deem is okay to put into their body. I wouldn't claim to not have smoked some oil in the past. Hell i have done a hell of a lot worse. But just so everyone has all the information to make their own decision let me just quote a few layman's terms statements from wiki:

Benzene causes cancer and other illnesses. Benzene is a "notorious cause" of bone marrow failure. "Vast quantities of epidemiologic, clinical, and laboratory data" link benzene to aplastic anemia, acute leukemia, and bone marrow abnormalities.[29][30]
The American Petroleum Institute (API) stated in 1948 that "it is generally considered that the only absolutely safe concentration for benzene is zero."

just as an FYI -
The United States Environmental Protection Agency has set a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for benzene in drinking water at 0.005 mg/L (5 ppb),

ppb = parts per billion

my sample was less than a tenth of a percent (0.14%) but damn.. ppb is pretty damn tiny as well

Anyway, to each their own.. and like i said there is a possibility that the benzene is destroyed during combustion (not sure abt vaping it). Regardless, the person i had run this IS by far the smartest person i have ever met, mathematically speaking. My final question to him was, "is this something that you would want your child smoking?"

his response was, "hell no."

Maybe this discussion belongs elsewhere. If this is bothersome to anyone i will be happy to edit it out and move it to somewhere else.

in the meantime

Nata I'm finding your posts interesting but they raise a question for me..I think I understand your take on benzene, but..is part of what you"re saying- that your sample did not, or would not pass to be sold to the public, patients, or in collectives? thanks DD

Hey! good seeing you around Doobie.

there is zero chance this would be passed by the FDA for human consumption.. unfortunately right now there are no safety standards for the products you see in dispensaries.

The guy who ran the test said exactly that. That topic has come up a lot as we have talked about opening a testing facility for flowers and extracts. If MMJ ever wants to go legit there will eventually need to be some standards that will need to be met.

I have had this done on a few flowers and although it is interesting how much THC the flowers have (SFV OG = ~ 19 % :jump:) the most interesting thing is the presence of so many other cannibiniods and compounds with different medical values. The oil didn't have nearly the amount as the flowers but over 95% thc was impressive.

When i was out drumming up business (pre- CA legalization vote) for the testing facility i found that although a lot of collectives would be happy to have their samples tested (as well as been given the full reports and a bunch of summaries to accompany the sale of the meds) # 1 they we not willing to pay for this and # 2 they would have had to remove a lot of meds from their shelves.

Another part of the test was a yes / no section for the presence of a few common (and unhealthy) pesticides. I would have to say a small amount; maybe 1 in 10 samples tested 'yes' for one or a few. Anyway, given that information; who would buy that? They would have had to trash / scrap those meds and unfortunately since they had already bought them that was something that they were not willing to do.

mad rep to nata! i owe.. anyway try vector. also dr gold makes a book called cannabis alchemy and i believe he discusses a wash with water and something else that may take those things out.

well if the FDA ever set a standard based on cigarettes and their additives alone, then this would still go right through regardless of EPA standards.

i thought i smoked cannabis and her derivatives instead of tobacco for a reason??? wtf is next? radiation thats already in our food and water from fukashima and nuclear meltdowns, here in usa showing up in cannabis?

Nata as usual bringing massive value to the community! Thanks, man!

I think as we learn better purging techniques and start using better, lab-grade equipment, we'll get a healthier product. But if you test lipstick, lotions, shampoos, produce, air -- almost anything around us -- you'll find pollutants a lot worse or even benzene in higher quantities. We're surrounded by that shit.

I certainly wouldn't turn down a bowl of good oil or budder on the rare occasion it gets passed to me. When you add in the legality issues and possible dangers of production to the residue questions though...I'll stick with making Bubble

Sorry this sample was not made using Colbri 5x but actually Vector 5x.

Had to check my PMs.

Anyone know if i am supposed to start seeing pistils dying off (turning brown or tan) a few days after pollination? I assume that this is normal i just would have hoped that i had more pistils fertilized.

Where you see the color changed pistils is where they are fertilized. :)

yeah after the PNC debacle I finally made some seeds of my own too :smoke:

got some Honey White males I threw at everything a while back (Highend(Rene x Blueberry) x The White, bx2), the female Honey Whites were 'kushy' with way more yield/vigor than the OG's and The White influence made em all sparkly. Really nice indica.

got it on the tahoe/valley/respect OG's, ECSD, and backcrossed to the HW to see what comes out.

a couple weeks old from germination right now and they are just starting to blow up. Gonna make more seeds with these offspring and try to narrow down some quality genes.

first growing was addicting, now its seed making :biglaugh:. I keep checking the bay to see whats goin around even though I have hundreds more seeds layin around.

Yea that dubtech looks really nice, especially humbles pics of her.

I love looking for males now instead of females, man how different things are from a year ago...
