Politicians are motivated by 2 things. Power and money. They get their power by keeping their cronies in money to do their dirty work. It is very easy to predict what any government of political elites will do based on these facts. Just look at what happened to Obummer's hope and change!!! We now have the most corrupt and oppressive government that I've seen in my lifetime. All to Keep the big biz and union cronies in Obummers pocket.

I looked up form 4473 because it just seemed to silly to be true but line e. "Are you and unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana,..." Lower down it points out that not telling the truth is a felony AND you will be denied by answering "yes"

That is straight up asking if you are guilty of a crime you haven't been charged for. Isn't that demanding you to waive your 5th amendment rights to access your 2nd amendment rights?

i agree with you 100% Midnight Rudy, my dad and i used to burn j's while we were hunting for years, and never had a problem, but then again, there are alot more idiots in the world now, and it only takes one bad seed to F it up., imo, it should be and individual case basis, for instance in my case, i F-d up, i should have made better decisions, but because i didnt, my right to bare arms was taken from me, but for the average toker, why should they have their rights taken from them, when they have no record of violence at all, ?

He didn't say it was a criminal case. He said attempting to exercise your 2nd amendment right requires you to (in most cases) waive your 5th amendment right. It's that simple.

And for what the goverment to say that an illegal card (feds don't recognize mmj laws) is a automatic waiver of my rights? This won't stand up in the courts as they have to reconise mmj cards in order to make laws restricting them, without recognizing them the only laws they can pass are ones that say the mmj card isn't valid therefore they can't mess with our gun rights.

What do they want us to do give up our cards, get a gun, and grow illegally? gee why would the gov want that its not like law enforcement and the private prison system have some of the biggest lobbyists in the country.

I don't know about that. I'm thinking the government might have made a serious miscalculation with their latest attempt at intimidating mj users. The government can screw with a bunch of stoners and nobody cares. But when they try to take people's guns away from them, for ANY reason, that's a whole 'nother story. This little game just might backfire on the feds.

The legislators in MT may be against medical marijuana, but they are more against someone trying to take their guns away from them (as others have posted in this thread). Great way to get the states to band together in support of medical marijuana against the feds. Way to go ATF!!!! What's that they say about the enemy of my enemy being my friend?

Montana's attorney general has become the latest high-ranking political figure in Big Sky Country to blast the Obama administration and its Department of Justice over a September 21 memo from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) instructing federal licensed firearms dealers that medical marijuana patients are "addicts" or "Illegal drug users" who cannot be sold firearms or ammunition. [Editor's Note: See our September 28 feature article on the issue here.] Attorney General Steve Bullock (D) now joins the entire state congressional delegation in blasting the administration's position.

Montana, which legalized medical marijuana through a popular vote in 2004, has more than 24,000 registered medical marijuana patients. It also has more than 200,000 hunters and issued more than 580,000 hunting licenses last year.

In a letter sent Monday to US Attorney General Eric Holder, Bullock strongly objected to the ATF's "unilateral" approach to the issue and said he was willing to explore "reasonable solutions" to the problems created by the AFT letter. The goal would be to find an approach that works for the 16 states and the District of Columbia that have legalized medical marijuana, he said.

"This would be much better than the type of unilateral proclamation represented by the ATF letter, which was issued without any advance notice or discussion with the elected officials who represent more than one-fourth of this nation's population and one-third of its states," Bullock wrote. "In the meantime, I respectfully request that the Department of Justice not pursue any criminal prosecutions against law-abiding citizens in Montana who exercise their constitutional rights to possess guns and enjoy hunting, or the licensees who are implicitly threatened by ATF's letter."

I haven't really heard much discussion about the impact that this will surely have on non-mmj states thinking about mmj. Look at NC or Fl for example, there's no way people are going to vote for something that will take away their 2'nd amendment rights! I'm pretty sure this would be the case in virtually any state trying to pass reform........

This wasn't only a Big FU to current mmj patients, but a proactive defensive move to try to slow down or stop the movement!

was looking over my recent edition of American Rifleman magazine and one of the featured articles was about the Texas Rangers (one of it's illustrious members)...the magazine describes how they lay wait for Bonnie and Clyde Barrow and then goes on to say what a fine hero he was...
this is what you can expect from the NRA peeps.
they are also under attack...and cannot afford association with our likes.

it is sad and frustrated for this life member...two of my favorite pastimes under attack.

yeah it has been illegal to purchase firearms while using controlled substances, that didn't stop me when doing powder trails...wouldn't stop me now, but cannabis should not even be a scheduled substance.

I would like to see one of the 4 Federal Patients make a big deal out of it, and go in admitting they use cannabis, but be able to check the "No" box...since they are sanctioned by the Feds...so it would not be illegal at all-- They would have no choice but to sell it to them--
That would open the door for some serious Discrimination Lawsuits--

It's kind of nice to be instantly promoted to being a felon, seeing how I was much too lazy to get there on my own. Being a successful criminal always seemed to require too much work.
Then again, if I get popped for growing with guns in the house, I'll be in jail with the unsuccessful criminals just the same as if I were one too.

I don't know what you are referring to, but since the NRA was founded in 1871 I find it difficult to believe that you saw a speech by one of the founders saying that.
