So what are the rules when some schmuck decides to plant on your property?

But that poor kid has put you at risk.

I just have a thing about people using other people, and using your property like that, and believe me, I've also been ripped and can put myself in your place, is just not cool.

I don't advocate violence at all, either. Let him think it was ripped. If you really feel sorry for him, leave some branches or something, take the top of the plant as a warning and he'll get the hint.

From my perspective, if you do nothing, then you've given implicit permission to go ahead and do it again next year. Is that what you want?

this is exactly right. i have a bush block that i bought and found a neighbours plants on my land. because i just bought it i didnt say anything to them about the plants. i thought they would do the right thing, and cut their losses this year. BUT i found the same this year, not the plants, just the finished cages. i know it is my neighbour so i have bought a trailcam to get his pic and i will put it in their letterbox. worst thing is they have their own 20 acres of bushland they cross to get to mine. i have let it go for 2 yrs because i hardly go there but enough is enough, this year i will pic him. also will keep a copy for johnny law should they find it and blame me.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO CLASS AT ALL.
cheers oz

Whatever you do, do not identify yourself to them. Next thing you know all your tires are slashed for killing pot plants.

I think that if this poor kid would find plants that belongs to you and not even in his own property would rip them off without second thought, not even mentioning about chat chat on ic for an answer...you got my opinon... ;)

Karma brother just because someone does you wrong does not mean you need to do it to someone else. I have had plants ripped. If I found someones grow on my land or off I would check it out and leave it be. If it's on my land then they get a warning to remove it.

even though this is a different story, I almost feel like I should let the poor kid get his ounce of schwag off this plant.

If you really feel that way, remove the plant and leave a small lightproof jar with an oz. inside, in its place. Note is optional.

Your property - you can do as you please.

Pull it.

No message. You owe them no response. No need to identify yourself.

And especially no guns.

leaning towards this...

Why not dig it up and transplant it into your garden? Isolate it for a little while and make sure there's no nasty critters on board, and then...boom! new plant! yeah!!!!
or just cut it down and make no mention about it.

my issue is how obvious the placement of the plant was...so my hiking out to the brush and pulling it up, then bringing it into my own home is too risky for me. That issue aside, I brought outdoor plants inside one time many moons ago and ended up with a year-long borg infestation. not trying to do that again

I'm thinking that I might pull it up and leave a jar with a bit of bud and a few choice seeds as a "peace offering," although I'm really leaning towards just pulling it and going on with my business.

Not really a huge deal since I don't have much going on at my house, just curious to get ya'lls opinion on the matter. Thanks for the posts.

I had someone take 1/2 of a plant last year, thought that was pretty damn cool & I had every intention of growing one out this year & leaving a note saying "Take a little less this year or water it for me, thanks"

not that you said anything dumb but that there is the smartest thing to say and go with especially if you have a indoor crop going on the same property

Were it me, I'd pull it, and leave it dead and wilted where it grew. This would IMO be a clear message that the plant was found and wasn't appreciated.

Leaving a note or a jar with any contents might make them think the property owner is OK with cultivation on the property, which could endanger your home if they suspect there's something happening inside.

As would any kind of threatening note, if the kids find it ripped with a note saying to stay off your property they might plant a bunch of others then tip LEO.

As stated before, Security first, etiquette second.

could do a lot of things. Make sure it's actually brick...could actually be something frosty. If it isn't shit mexican, dig it up and plant it somewhere else.
Could leave a sign right where the plant was...something like no trespassing or something.
If you really wanted to figure out who did it I guess you could set up a wildlife camera. Have to be pretty bored though.

I wouldn't leave a note. If leo finds it, you don't want to appear complicit by allowing the perp time to cop his stash.

I wouldn't approach the grower, no telling who you're dealing with.

You could take the plants which IMO is your best security interests. If you see that smoking it is kosher, it's your property.

Well if its just one plant, I would chop it, leave a pirate flag and a treasure map leading to closest state park! If its a bunch of plants, chop them, leave a law enforcement patches or what not laying around! You don't mess with pirates our feds!
Good luck

i would do what c.a.m.p. does, ripem up and leave a business card from your local cops.

you dont want him trying to grow next year on your land.if the cops find it they might blame you and search your house.take your guns....

Just chop it down already. If the person has the idea that he or she can plant on property within plain sight of a house they are not thinkin properly. The plant must go,end of story. It's not like you were hiking on your vast lands and stumbled upon a plant. It is in plain view of your castle so to speak. :thank you:

Build a little greenhouse around it with a padlock and a security camera. Then dig a moat and fill it with piranha. Then booby trap the area around the moat with land mines. Then get yourself a hunter's perch and your binoculars and find yourself a hobby.
