reweighing confiscated bud after 2 years

I had some bud seized and it is .01 pounds over the threshold for possession to trafficking, about 4.5 grams. The difference between possible probation and 5 year MMM. the bud was freshly trimmed 3-4 days old when they got it. I am considering having it reweighed and hoping that the stuff turned to shit after sitting in a wet bag for 2 years.

Would the thc levels break down if the weed went all moldy and nasty?

Would there be any additional weight if it was all moldy? The logical side of me says if the bag is sealed, how would it gain weight. But then the mold has to come from somewhere right?

Yes I have a lawyer. Yes we have argued the weight. No they will not budge and it is plead guilty and take at least a 5 year MMM or go to trial and if I loose, the consequences are much worse.

It can't have gained any weight, but I doubt it lost any either. .01 pounds is over 4.5 grams. Good luck.

You have nothing to lose by re-weighing it. Maybe one of the cops took some out for personal use? Ask the judge to have them take it out of the bag to weigh it and hope for the best.

What was the total amount? There was definitely moisture to lose but its only going to be a certain %

I think its worth a shot...

It probably got way too dry to get moldy.

Make sure the bag weight it not included, they might've fucked you on that originally.

Plus I bet some got pinched.

Or they cant even find it!

yes if you can have it weighed again i'd do it.you definitely have nothing to lose and alot to gain and a good chance that it has lost weight by now, just hope its enough to get past the mandory minimum sentence. good luck with it

Get it re weighed, it'll either have rotted to a pulp or dried out to near 0% water content ..... you're in with a chance there

i would have my lawyer try for a reweigh of the evidence without the packaging material with the argument that baggie aint pot may make a big difference with your case

its 10 pounds

This stuff was pretty wet. So either it dried or it got rotten.

And I do think it could have added weight. Plants grow huge buds just by absorbing some nutrients and light. I think its possible that light energy helped mold grow, and that could add weight. It is just a theory.

I posted in the growers forum, would the THC break down if it went all rotten?

Asking for a re-weigh is a good choice-- They usually weigh it with the bag--
But...if it was still wet, and got moldy, they are not required to keep it, as they do not have to keep perishables--
But they will have a photo of it, and if the report doesn't specifically say they weighed it without the bags, then you have a chance of getting the bag weight reduced from the total--
Bags holding 10 pounds would definitely be more weight than you are over for MMS--:tiphat:

I know that wet buds put into a bag will 100% get moldy/slimy. If this has been in bag for that long it will be a horrid smell when opened. Will this necrosis add weight to the bud???

Are you sure they bagged it wet? When I got busted they actually dried the product and only weighed bud, not all the stem, dirt etc.

Im pretty sure the funky ass drug cops sold the shit too.

depending on the humidity of the place you put your plants to dry, after 3-4 days if the humidity is "normal "(50% HR) you should still have at least 20% more weight compare to nicely dry.

you can still argue on the moisture content of fresh plants, in an ideal world a moisture test should be done to determine how much water is in the weed...

If in anyway they didn't dried them before bagging, and hypothetically have kept it for two years, than it will be a big black ball of mold and just start dryin as soon as open. If you wait it to dry and make it weight it probably be less than half a pound. Fungus rules.

BTW if they keep your weed for two years, then they must have a shitload of it somewhere ^^ just sayin

Good luck for your fight, nobody should be jailed for growing a plant.

The law of conservation of mass, also known as the principle of mass/matter conservation, states that the mass of a closed system (in the sense of a completely isolated system) will remain constant over time.

The mass of an isolated system cannot be changed as a result of processes acting inside the system. The law implies that mass cannot be created or destroyed, although it may be rearranged in space and changed into different types of particles; and that for any chemical process in a closed system, the mass of the reactants must equal the mass of the products.

I hope the bags weren't sealed extremely well.

Good Luck

Indeed NetFlanders,

I would think mold will eat all organic matter, and when opened the bag will release the humidity and dead/alive spores, while leaving only dead fungus and no more plant matter.

Which is why my half a pound. I maybe wrong though, then I would say it will weight the exact same amount as your weed if dry to 0% moisture content. so less than 10 pounds.
of course no more thc.

re weigh it.. and unless ur in texas.. id take the jury trial. cant be much worse than the mandatory minimum.. no matter what "they" say. actually my advice is get a great lawyer and do exactly whatever the f they tell u.. sounds like ur lawyer is decent if hes pushed things back five years.. my two cents
