Depends on how much I use it, maybe one a month on avg. If I start to notice issues with my plants I will do one just to be on the safer side of things.

Re: Ph calibration?

Just got a cheap milwaukee 600 off eGAy....thing needs to be calibrated every fucking time I use it. I knew I should have just ponied up and got a bluelab :(

^^^^This is not necessarily a bad thing. Could be quite the opposite. pH changes with temperature, as I'm sure you well know, so small inconsistencies could indicate a response to temp change.

Make a day, once a month or once a week, or whatever suites your needs to calibrate. Use the proper calibration liquids. Take notes.
When the meter is acting funny, re calibrate. Or replace.
Really the plants will tell you if anything is off. This works for me.
Good luck:)

As much as I love my BlueLab EC Truncheon, it should be said that the pH Truncheon was an abject failure and is no longer produced. If you have the chance to buy one, DON'T!

That said, their meters get top reviews.

it helps to know roughly what you expect your pH to be before you measure. i err on the side of caution and at least check my calibration anytime i feel a reading may be inaccurate or twice a week. whichever comes sooner.

calibration solution is cheap. losing a grow to lockout is not.

Same pH meter I bought the first time as well. Thing was ALL over the place with readings. It would be so far off every use that it wasnt worth calibrating it every single time I used it.

I bought a Hanna 98107 works pretty well and stays pretty accurate unlike the pH 600 which was complete garbage!
