using 25 micron bag only?

My 5 gallon bubble now/bubble bag kit just arrived and Ive got a shit ton of trim, popcorn and immature bud to process (5-6 pounds).

Not my first time making bubble, but it is my first time making bubble with this amount material, and to keep things simple Im thinking about just using the 220 bag and and the 25 micron bag.

Anyone else ever done this? If so what was your experience?

I've used only the 25 micron bag to catch all the trichs in one batch when I wasn't worried about seperating out the best of the best from the rest. If you do this, I highly suggest using the 190 and possibly the 160 micron bags purely to catch trash that you wouldn't want mixed in your hashish. Good luck!

25 bag can be difficult to empty as it is. Add all the trichs from all the other bags and the screen becomes very clogged. It certainly doesn't make things faster or easier. Besides if you use only 1 type of herbs and all the bags you get many buzzes. Mix it all in 1 ya get 1 buzz. Good luck. Peace GS

Go ahead and do it that way the first time if ya want. That way you will get the hang of it. Then be sure to try the other microns as well and you will be VERY happy with what you find. Or do a couple pounds with the 25 and then fool around with the others.Note the dif colors in the pic. Dif micron bags. Have fun friend.

actually i bought the 4 bag kit so i didnt get the 190 bag, but did get the 160 bag. the 160 resin actually isnt that bad, i usually use it for butter. I got enought material to play around with so im gonna try it with 10 zips i guess, ill have the 220 bag that goes in the washer, than the 220 5 gallon bag and the 25 micron bag.

25u only sounds REALLY tedious to me...

in terms of work, or smoking? if your talking about smoking, i am going to end up with more hash than i could smoke myself in a lifetime, so needless to say the final product is not going to be all for me, so separating out all the different grades for everything i have isn't that important to me.

I know....what I just said is blasphemy to the connoisseurs on here, but it is what it is.

ok. you were right. I just finished running 15 z's in 5 ounce increments using only the 220 zipper bag, the 220 5 gallon bucket bag and the 25 micron bag.

To say the 25 micron bag is hard to empty when used on its own is an understatement. While I got a ton of bubble (looks like 3-5 ounces) I wont be using that method again.

Guess you already found out what I meant- those things drain realllly slowly...

Yes. I had the 1 gallon 8 bag kit previously, and towards the last year or didnt use every bag, so ordered the 4 bag kit with my bubble now machine.

I usually end up keeping a small amount of material from each of the bags for myself, than mixing together and pressing what is left and giving it away.

This year though I have so much material to process that I wanted to try and make things a little faster so I just tried two bags.

I have a nice 5G set of bags that I used for quite awhile and everything seemed fine. Then I decided to check the runoff water after going through the 25 bag. Lots of broken trichs in there. How much hash have I wasted down the drain over the years?

I now don't use any bags. Just research Gumby hash...and adopt the system that best fits your setup. Bags damage and break the trichs....thats how they get through the 25 bag.

Or just ignore me and carry on.

i would def use 73 micron first

the 73 gives the best quality

it is a real shame mixing the 25 with the 73

I discovered this years ago actually, as a result I ended up re-using the ice water when doing multiple runs in a day. For this run that I am talking about in this thread, I did 3 runs using 5 oz's each of trim, small buds. At the end I put the water back in the bubble now machine and let it agitate for a few minutes, than passed it through both the 220 and 25 bag. Just from the water alone I netted what appeared to be an extra 2-3 grams of hash.

I have a 4 bag set and have done the water/ice method quite a few times. I prefer to dry sift with only the 160 red bag now though...I throw in about 2 oz. at a time and wiggle it around by hand, brushing my fingertips on the bottom of the bag...when my fingers start to get a green layer, I stop and use the rest for iso....I get really good returns and if you don't let it go green the quality is comparable to the the stuff made with ice and multibags...I'm sure a ton of fanboys will argue how doing the ice/water method gives a way purer product...but my micro scope doesn't lie. After seeing the compared results and returns, I think that the ice/water method is mostly hype...I get more weight of nongreen material doing it dry by hand, and the smell and taste are better too.

:2cents:

edit: oh and for the people still using ice/water...if you're using a 5 gallon bucket you can just yank the bags down the sides of the bucket creating a vacuum and it sucks the water out...no need to wait for it to drain...it's actually a weird phenomenon...when you yank down it sucks the water through the bag so well the sometimes the bag will have no water in it but be below waterlevel in the bucket....if anyone didn't understand that yanking water out part..just pm and I'll try to explain it better

I sort of agree, to an extent. I have performed dry sift methods in the past with great success, sometimes getting a product that smokes better and has a better high than water extraction. I also think that water extraction is one of those things that is part truth/part hype/and part great marketing on the part of the bubble bag guys. The main reason I say this is because I have smoked hash from the middle east in the past that will put any water extracted hash to shame, and they their hash is processed without separating out the different sizes. Also, for whatever reason, despite being consistent in my processing methods I seldom get any of the product from any of the bags to "bubble" on a regular basis, further making believe that there is alot of hype around water extraction methods. I won't say I have never gotten anything to bubble, maybe 1 run out of 3 will have material that bubbles.

Finally, as far as mixing the various grades together, I have performed experiments on people who smoke hash on a regular basis, where I smoke my hash with them and either don't tell them the bag used for that sample, or I will tell them that it was something other than it really is. Bottom line is the feedback I received from these tests was mixed. Some people claimed they thought the "inferior" hash that consisted of the different grades mixed together smoked better than material that was more pure, in other cases people were unable to tell the difference, and there was only person who was able to tell any difference between any of the grades.

I personally am able to tell the difference between the different grades, but at the end of the day that difference really is not important to me as even my mixes taste good and give me a pleasant buzz.

after 3 runs what quality is the hash coming out??

theres only so much quality to be had ,
if you at least seperated one of the better grades it would last as long , you need less of it ..
i never liked the 25 , its cooking grade imho ,
a real shame to see it mixed with the good grades ...
but your choice to do what you like with your own gear ...

It's three runs using the same water but different batches of unprocessed material to be clear. End product was identical in all cases
