When talking with fellow smokers in private, I call it herb or ganja, or weed, whatever.
But in any kind of public forum, I feel it's important to call it cannabis, because that is it's proper name, and it negates the "M" word, which is Mexican slang that has negative and racist connotations, used by our government and the other captains of industry when they were demonizing it. You will never hear me use the "M" word.

Cannabis sativa will get more respect if we treat it with such. It's an amazing plant that's been on this planet longer then I ! and will out live me and human kind. Doesn't that say something about this amazing plant?
Yeah, dope to me is H or speed or something like that. That's what i think of when i hear dope anyway.

Pot, weed or nugs. Occasionally I'll say grass to fuck with my younger friends. Never used cannabis.
Buds, dakka, yhandi, choof, rez are all names from growing up tha later was the most popular in my circle. But know I'm happy calling it buds
