Effects of too much co2

the biggest effect will be how much $$ you waste on co2. I think like kids; plants need constancy to thrive in. Right light,temp,r.h.,and water with food. Environment can have the best outcome in the end.Why does indoor have more constant dank harvests than outdoor? ...constancy in weather

i've read on internet that some CO2 users were complaining that too much CO2 decrease potency.

Are there some people who experienced this issue ?

I have never heard of any Ill effects of having a constant saturation of CO2 over 1500ppm.

1500ppm CO2 is the optimum saturation level for plants before benefit-to-expenditure ratio no longer increases yield sufficiently to justify increasing CO2 ppm.

I do know that some growers using a sealed room/cab setup (such as myself) and if faced with insect issues, the room can be sealed and the CO2 increased to 10,000ppm. This will kill all insects in the grow room by suffocating them.

I don't think there are any noticeable ill side effects of high concentrations of CO2 above 1500ppm optimal. There's just no real point to supplement your grow with anything above 1500ppm. The air we breathe I believe is approx. 300ish ppm of CO2. That loss in concentration, through plant uptake, is why fresh air must be brought into the grow room (unless adding CO2 by supplementing).

at high enough concentrations CO2 causes acidosis and asphyxia,
not unlike CO from a car or a gas furnace.
i'd say dying is a pretty ill effect.

yah-
death=no bueno. that takes a lot though right?

from the NIOSH website:
NIOSH CO2 exposure limits: NIOSH recommends a maximum concentration of carbon dioxide of 10,000 ppm or 1% (for the workplace, for a 10-hr work shift with a ceiling of 3.0% or 30,000 ppm for any 10-minute period). These are the highest threshold limit value (TLV) and permissible exposure limit (PEL) assigned to any material. NIOSH's recommended CO2 exposure limit for 15 minutes is 3.0% or 30,000 ppm . A CO2 level of 4% (40,000 ppm) is designated by NIOSH as immediately dangerous to life or health.
it's just a matter of a well sealed room and a busted regulator.
improbable, but certainly worth mentioning.

Too much Co2, or misuse of it can cause serious complications in your grow.

The highest recommendations i have seen are 1500 ppm but ime this is too high and a misapplication of Co2 injection. Unless your plant health, nute profiles, and room are dialed and your running @ about 78-82 degrees (for optimal metabolization), your going to be burning and or retarding the growth of your plants.

Further, when done properly the explosive growth caused by the Co2 lengthens flowering times but increases harvests. This is why it will appear less potent if it has been run for the same time length of a non-co2ed room.

I run our co2 pretty close to this (though i top out at 1200):

The fact is that i have supplemented with CO2 without any management by mixing baking soda and sulfuric acid for swimming pools at the beguinning of their day. In a few weeks i used 3 kg of baking soda and the same in sulfuric acid powder. Without any control, and it's in a cave, so the C02 won't go out, it will be consumed. I think i have added a lot of CO2. The plants are very beautiful but the final product is weak, even very weak.
So now i've stopped making CO2 and i hope the next crop will be good. But the 2 last crops were very bad, good yield but of crap weed. I've never seen that. The trichomes are there but there is almost no THC. I run DWC, so the CO2 has gone into the water via the air pumps, this is bad, also.
I'm pretty sure the CO2 ruined my crops...

How is it possible that a bud full of trichomes does not stick to the fingers ? The bud is seven weeks, smells good but not strong, i did not noticed that before, but it does not stick !!! The next crop will be crap also, i'm afraid...
