Are your counseling sessions primarily psychology or psychiatry? Is it sociologically oriented (rehabilitation) or closer to inmate management?

and the prison system dont work. and they should come up whit another alternative. '
a quick google gave me this list, and by holy Mary Jane there are some noncense departments . so if you ask me the only way forward is for the americans to demand reform. if the system dont work, and the government are fixed on continuing, the only lodical way is to get a new government.

if an inmate are returned to prison after finiching his sentence, then the sentence put upon him the first time didnt work. and if this happens 40% of the time, you need to give the inmates some other tools to work whit when they come out. teach them how to care for themselfs, a trade, or skills. teach them the norms they are ecspectet to live under. and then suport them to make the transession to freedom. and all of it could probably be financed by eliminating some of the less productive departments.

You'd be hard pressed to find *anything* even remotely capable of being called 'pristine' in most prisons. In every prison I've been in, it takes 3 days and 2 request forms to get a damn Tylenol or Band-aid, anything faster and there would be less incentive to bribe the guards.

The most ignorant thing I've read all day (it's still morning though, I'm sure it can be topped). Prison health care is totally inadequate, both in quality and availability. In most prisons, people line up every day to get seen by a doctor or nurse, and only a percentage even get ANY health care that day.

29 years for shoplifting is extreme, no doubt that the 3 strikes system is flawed. That said though I think it is valid for violent or bad crimes (sexual offenders, armed robbery, etc etc.), but this guys lawyer (state appointed or not) should have done a better job for sure.

He does have a history of violent crime. The last one doesn't need to be violent though. That's my understanding of it.

If one takes a look at his criminal history, he may have gotten off easy in the past.

Many do. Some judges hand out small sentences in hopes it will balance out punishment with growth. When people just don't learn, they throw the book at them.

I doubt this guy has had unfair and unjust convictions for the entirety of his criminal career.

I'm quite certain, in the age of plenty, that some severely 'character flawed' DNA snuck it's way through.No more hunter/gatherer skills apply to cull the herd...just a pulse gets you through.

People who continually make bad choices are still people and should suffer what consequence? What is adequate deterrent?

I've been to prison, it's no fun...I also knew what it was going to be like beforehand and that my actions could land me there.

It took exactly ONE TIME inside to figure out I wasn't going back...I know what you're thinking...genius,right?

What type of mental deficiency makes people need three visits to 'figure' that out?

Or is that all somebody else's fault too?
