I say that every every time I look at OD plants. There is just no beating the sun. Makes a "runt" look like a star.....they can plow through about anything. High PPMs....high heat....and all sorts of bugs.

I don't do much for the plant other than nip sun blocking leaves (mostly in the guts), clean out the run off from the bottom of the 5 gal bucket her 3gal square is lipped on, mist her with the hose to clean off dust and raise RH, rotate her daily, and feed twice a day....sounds like a lot actually....but really only 10 minutes a day I need to spend with her total.

I do have to shlep feed from one part of the property to another and climb in an out of the pit with a bit of stealth....but man...compared to indoor or that OD scrog I had in the pit last summer....it's pretty minimal maintenance. That scrog was a motherfucker to keep up with...and indoor is a constant 2hrs minimum every day.....never less than an hr.

mines not so bad,1/2 an hour a day at most, with a big cleaning day once a week, but even that hardly takes two hours baked out of my brain...

Even when you are still...you are moving

Even when you are still...you are moving

Here's a look at some SFV x Ghost X Ghost at day 56...there are two phenotypes...I did find another lemon/lime phenotype (so far only 2 then) and the other phenotype is a darker leafed, less the citrus...a lesser aroma in general...but a danky/funky smelling expression. I can't put a specific finger on aroma.

They seem to want to finish from 6o-65....but you could take most of them earlier. I'm trying different harvest Xs. Structure wise....as shown in the pix...pretty similar with the lemon/lime being distinctively lighter green (lol...in the pix not so much...)

The same Kush plants with the Odessa IX1 "Trops" and "Vinyl" (day 60)

I'll use the beans from both "Trops" and "Vinyl".....both phenotypes are very nice. I like them both equally.

I'm going to use pretty much all the Kush beans...as they are all very similar. I have separated the 1st harvested lemon/lime phenotype's beans, however....I do prefer that aroma.

1st batch harvest...a little tester here and there in a joint....good stuff off the vine...that's promising. I still have the majority of the Kush plants to finish before I get too caught up in the smoke and assessments.

August flowering pitted domain

August flowering pitted domain

I gets to thinking....living in the southern most part of the state...living in a place between mountains where the sun shine comes later in the morning due to towering ridge lines...burns hot and bright in clear skies when it comes....then passes quickly and early behind a ridge to my west....

I put the "Runt" SFV x Ghost X Ghost outdoors in something like mid June....she started going into flower in the 1st week of July...I reckon she will follow the finish time trend of her indoor sisters...60-65 days flower

you come home from long days of labor...you look into the pit to see "Runt" progress....you bring her down her 2nd feeding at dusk (you brought her 1st feed pre dawn).....you note her fatness...and you know what a wonderful world it be. Sooner than later....I doubt she reaches the end of September...and that's alright.

Those plants look like they've seen a few chilly nights and burning hot days, that cola structure is a dead giveaway.Under those protective leaves, there's some hunks of great weed. That intense daytime sun, the plants respond to strong vertical light in a similar way, using the leaves to protect what's inside.I imagine that if you were a coffee drinking guy it'd be nice to sit there with a cup of coffee watching the sun come up and hit the 1st leaves. She must twist to the east in the morning, eh?:tiphat:

Yes sir...C is an observant and educated man. I have had several sub 40 degree nights already....high desert....

It is 45 degrees at this moment....the pit is located some 25-30' below that reading....so probably 42 degrees down in there. By 2 P.M. it will be 90 degrees of unblocked every aspect sun. There are no clouds in the sky.

As she progresses....I'll get down there for some morning shots....I've been having to work my day job lately and haven't had the time....plus my veggie beds are sucking up a lot of what I do have. My wife has been making Zucchini bread for days straight. I have veggies coming out my ears...

I haven't spent much time in the pit....she's on her own except for the 2 a day feedings. A fine girl though...she twists and bends following the sun. Dead nuts accurate.

Balancing Act

Balancing Act

The juggle between work and gardens....one day this thing/one day that thing

Box of Odessa and SFV x Ghost X Ghost buds....drying

I'm slammed in life at the moment. I'm posting up for sanity purposes today. I've taken some needed indoor time...busy with harvesting, germinations, transplanting, and some cleaning that I haven't had time to keep up on.

There are like 6 more OGs coming due...staggered...in the next week. I'm happy with every plant rolling by me....absolutely no bitches.

I will not be posting up much for the next couple weeks

I see you stay at it, hehe

what a tidy box of goodness you got there! It's nice when you do a run from seed and there are no figurative 'runts' in the smoke quality, isn't it?

NET WEIGHT: 27.7 grams

NET WEIGHT: 27.7 grams

Ingredients: Odessa, SFV x Ghost X Ghost, Cleveland Sage

Runs: 2 separate runs (one after the other)

Screens: used only 5 screens 220, 120, 73, 45, 25

Method: Bubble Bags cold water extract

1. fill a 2 gal bucket 3/4 full of trim

2. Add water to bucket until it covers trim

3. Put bucket in freezer with a lid on it

4. Freeze bucket until you have time or a need to make hash

5. Put ice and water a 1/4 way in your 5 gal extract bucket

6. put in screens (I have 8 but like using only 5)

7. after having thawed out 2 gal bucket don industrial elbow gloves

8. Using gloved hands crush up and stir the slushy mix...rubbing the trim through your hands gently.

9. using your hand to hold back the trim pour as much of the extract water into the 5 gal screened bucket as you can before releasing the trim. The trim goes on top.

10. Add ice over the top of the trim

11. Still gloved you can now circulate the ice around the trim in a final stir (only stir needed in the actual screens...all the rest is done in the 2 gal bucket)

12. After letting the 5 gal bucket sit for 10 minutes or so....start pulling screens and harvesting hash

* this is the quickest and most efficient way I have found. I doubt that I miss many glands. It screens clean....no green...leaving the trim a stringy, pulpy compost.

Mixing the trim in a separate bucket and then screening it is key...as is freezing the trim solid to begin with. The slushy mix the trim makes when properly thawed is excellent to work with.

***don't care what anyone says....using a food dehydrator on a 115, 105, and 95 setting (I switch between those temps) is a very quick and efficient way of extracting water out of bubble hash. I don't use one for drying flowers....but it is perfect for hash. I made this stuff last night and I could smoke it today. As it is....it is ready for the cure jar. It will get a nice cure.

Particularly the 115 setting makes the hash very soft and slightly sticky....pretty much perfect imo.

Gotta love the hash. And that food dehydrator is a nice touch. I usually chop it up real fine to dry and then ball it back together but might have to try some at 115. :)

Hash is insane. I have a big...well cured ball...left from my last run. It's like a piece of vacation...the aromas so complex. It will floor most.

I really do give a good portion away to friends. I can't smoke all this shit lol...I even keep up with my wife's euro habit...so I pass it out to all my cheeser friends. It's nice turning someone on to the clean hash.

Try the 115 thingy...even when stuff gets a bit dry...I put it under the 115 treatment to soften and reform. I've had nothing but good luck with the dehydrator.

Sunset in the Pit

Sunset in the Pit

Front to back: Cleveland Sage, Prudence Highland, "Runt"

Cleveland Sage...BBS phenotype at day 90ish...flushing and going for 100.

Prudence Highland...day 47....she was just put in the pit the other day. My Highland work is paying off....this girl smells wild.

Prudence Highland= Querkle X TFlux Highland

TFlux Highland= Flo x Chem DD X Highland Mex x BB

Cleveland Sage= Prune Juice x Hummingbird

Hummingbird= Kali Mist x Chem D Kush X Grape Krush

Prune Juice= Querkle X Grape Krush

*The Querkle mom is the same (Prudence was her name) in both Prudence Highland and Prune Juice....a swell lady...she pops up to see me from time to time.

I'm kicking back....concentrating on other things....but I'm fucking rolling out some nice expressions. Something is guiding me along...no questions do I have. I mean this with no intent of arrogance. My plants are coming through for me. You gots to be happiest with what you gots....ride those waves until they close out

are all those ghost done?

Nope. Besides the outdoor "runt" plant....I still have 3 more of the Ghost cross flushing. They should be done in the next week.

I've been smoking joints off what I've harvested. Little cure...it is still very good. I'm curing several jars presently. It's a happy high...not lethargic. It is not lemony or citrus...at least the ones I've tried...funky stuff.

I already germed up some seedlings from beans that fell off my choice Kush plants. The Hell Hounds are up and going already. It should be interesting picking out phenotypes in that mix.

and the great cycle continues...about to start my harvest cycle again, lots of sativa this time...

I'm flowering Congo X GK, BMS X Cindy Jones, and Mikado X I-HOP GK.....finishing up some other stuff (Jessica Lang)......the studio never looks the same. It will have themes...but...it will never be the same. I'm seeing some pretty cool stuff in the current batch. It's not the easiest batch to fly though....tricky currents....aggressive expressions
