A word of advice for you guys who have ever thought about moving to a friendly state

CA: San Diego may not be most pot friendly, ok. Santa Cruz, San Fran Bay Area, Santa Barbara, Napa Valley? any other good choices?

Pretty much anywhere but San Diego and a few other, smaller specific places are chilled in California. Santa Cruz is a really chilled city and a college town, easy to meet people and find things to do. Santa Barbara is much the same and fucking beautiful - but expensive as sin and rather isolated away (30 minutes minimum to anything else). San Fran is again expensive, but a lot more variety, and a shit ton to do in/around the city.

For the record: there never have been, are not, and never will be any jobs in Oregon (relatively speaking).

....unless you want to work in a restaurant, or a coffee shop in which case: COME ON DOWN. Alternatively, your other option is to open a bicycle store and run it into bankruptcy.

University jobs perhaps

Several areas in Washington are the same...

Caused by years of dependency upon forest industry.

This, tied to the Meth epidemic of the 90's has left many rural areas of OR and WA in economic and human crisis.

Places to grow:

Yakima Valley, WA

Bend, OR

These two places have nice weather for Cannabis.

Again, find where the good wine is produced and grow there.

Yeah pretty much that. While I'm not familiar with the Portland area very much seems like it might be the best market for work.

A friend who became a certified Microsoft techie moved from Ashland to Portland and is making good bank as a consultant.

Thanks for the insight Ojo. It sounds a lot like parts of Kentucky, if you substitute coal for timber and oxy for meth.

thought about it for awhile, even before i was interested in growing.
just did it this year with my girl, about 1000 seeds, and 5k+. two legit jobs helps too.

and for everyone that screams that the rent is high, well on the east coast i was never able to pay these prices for a 2 br apt/ or house. i might not be in the city, but i damn sure can get there in a short time.

worth every penny. im not trying to make this into a business, but i am looking to indulge in my passion. and that makes it totally worth it. oh and did i mention its stunning looking here and everyone is way nicer then where im from?

only regret, i didn't do it sooner.

And that my friend is a no lose situation if you're doing what you love for the passion. If you 'fail' on the business end of things still spent your life doing what you love. Not many people can say that.

Yes a long flowering sativa might be better.
Eight week urkle pulled after seven weeks is not.
Is anyone in Norcal using the outdoors to do something that can't be done indoors?
It seems like kind of a waste to use all that prime land to crank out buds that give real heads headaches.

I have yet to see a 14 lb plant indoor, and I'm always looking.

I don't know how they do it but I've seen plants the size of trees, with trunks like over a half a foot wide. Well pics of them. How do they do it? Can you actually keep a plant alive like that outside for years? Seems like some had like 50 pounds of bud...would it still smoke good year after year?

I'll have to do research on how to become a "citizen" of California or a resident of Oregon...I think 30 days means you're a resident. But Californias residency laws sound strange from what I'm hearing here..."citizenship of California"???

Citizenship in a state usually isn't a formal process you have to go thru or apply for but rather just a matter of establishing a residence there and then being able to prove it thru things like utility bills addressed to you at said residence.

Ahh, I've thought about that before...if you can grow them openly in full sun, and have the right strain, then you could vegetate them indoors and get a hell of a head start...put out 2 foot plants on May 1, combine that perfect weather, and damn

I was a resident of California, all I had to do was show them my apartment lease and my license from my home state. I also took my birth certificate just in case, but they didn't ask for it. Did all that the 2nd day I was there, and had my tempo license in hand immediately. In theory, you could become a resident on vacation...if you were really determined to do something. As a resident, most of the airports in CA will let you travel with weed openly

Cali is a good state. It might be expensive, but it's worth it. My buddy was pulled over for speeding, chp looked through his "kit" that was out on the seat. Had a couple 1/4's, papers, grinder and lighter. He showed him his med card. Cop let him off with a warning on the speeding and gave him his herb back. And yes, the weather is amazing here.

Santa Barbara is killer if you have $500k minimum.
Expensive is an understatement. My brother moved there 8 years ago and it really is a slice of heaven.
Maybe Goleta (UCSB/airport area) area for a cheaper pad.
I think the closest shopping area (big boxes) are in Ventura (30 minutes).
There are some hydro shops in town and plenty of homeless people.

Several years ago when I did grow, I had this mystery strain from seeds that I got from this guy from Humboldt......it took FOREVER to flower...like 4 months of 12/12, but I yielded a 10 ounces (!!!) under a 150 watt light plus 30 watts of floro side lighting

driving down the freeway with a dozen full sized plants or a bow in a box... not worrying about the cops impounding your car & putting you in jail... kind of liberating. doing it in a commercial spot after registering your alarm permit with the local cop shop... man, makes you think the world can actually change. not all medi states are the same, but coming over from the dark side... totally different life experience.
