Guilty - guilty as charged...

Just sorted some for consumption earlier, put all the nice solid buds back and took the smaller nugs and bud shake...

They are beautiful - I wait as long as possible to "destroy" them...

That's how I do it. Not just pot tho, when eating things I will save the best part of the meal for last.

Also keep in mind some assumptions are being made. I mention that because I see another post talking about smoking smaller buds first to allow bigger buds to cure. I usually try to smoke the previous crop while waiting for buds to finish curing rather then smoke buds of any size that are uncured, I make the assumption that most folks who would "prize" a bud allow all their buds to cure before smoking them.

I do it because I want the big buds to dry/cure for as long as possible before I smoke them.

I think of the small popcorn buds as an appetizer to hold me off until the main course is ready.

You do know that given enough time, even if kept in a jar, buds will lose their potency? Now if the jars containing the buds are also kept in the dark and refrigerated then they'll take much longer to lose potency but yes, even then, under those conditions it can happen given enough time.

The only time I'll forego smoking a bigger bud for a smaller one is if I just want a lite buzz rather then wanting to be "really stoned". Although it's usually a short reprieve for the bud as I'll likely want to get "really stoned" later on the same day

I'm not trying to get you to change, I'm just telling you how I roll. If you want to save your biggest buds and are happy to do so then keep on doing it.

Maybe you held onto it for too long first?

Seriously though, that potency issue is misunderstood. Bigger Buds are more potent then smaller buds in roughly the same way a keg of beer is more potent then a 6 pack.

lol maybe. that was a very foxtaily one. mandala 1 but a very sativa pheno. perhaps medium mode according to crushometrics.

I usually do it because I start to smoke the smaller buds from a harvest after 2-3 months of curing, so by the time I get to bigger buds, most times after around 6 months of curing I consider them to be at their peak. after 6-8 months of curing they go in the deep freezer for longer term storage.

I used to try to preserve the more awesome buds to impress people. Then it occured to me that with what's on the street it's very rare you actually come across buds that amazing and still intact. I figured if I suddenly start consistently having such enviable buds it might make people suspicious. I mean it's bad enough that big buds or small the stuff I have is so much better then the average bag on the street. Best not to compond the situation by always pulling out monster buds too.

So now I just smoke them in whatever order they come out of the jars

i always save the best a.k.a the top cola for last. even when i train and top there is always 1 or 2 at the top that ripen faster than all the rest of the tops i usually chop most if not all the plant when the top ripens sometimes i might just take the top off and give the rest a week. but when i smoke i keep the colas in the jar to cure and the rest i jar up and start smoking as soon as it's dry. i wish i had enough room and legality to grow enough where i would have a last harvest to smoke as the new stuff cures, but i don't.

popcorn jar first while the rest cures, after popcorn we move to the smaller mid buds, when those are done we open the cola jar(s) and we start at the bottom of the stem plucking buds till we get to the top which is smoked last. smoke constantly increases as you go, i disagree just on the basis of personal experience that all the buds on the plant are the same quality.

if that were the case grower-dealers wouldn't separate out all the cola's for personal stash and sell the rest. you think im lyin ask around. i doubt you have ever gotten a top cola in any weed you have ever bought from anywhere, unless it was some outdoor packed for shipping, and even then im pretty sure there was a pile of top colas they kept aside possible you bought some of that for an extra price.
