does anyone else feel compelled to smoke every small bud in a jar before touching the bigger ones?

I like the small buds, perfect bong hit size is awesome. Big buds you have to pick at to get a piece.

Yeah buddy lol, as a personal use micro-grower I always save the biggest buds for last, kinda like the small buds are the cake and the big buds are the frosting.

I used to try to preserve the more awesome buds to impress people. Then it occured to me that with what's on the street it's very rare you actually come across buds that amazing and still intact. I figured if I suddenly start consistently having such enviable buds it might make people suspicious. I mean it's bad enough that big buds or small the stuff I have is so much better then the average bag on the street. Best not to compond the situation by always pulling out monster buds too.

Another thing I ALWAYS do is work from the bottom of the bud to the top. I noticed alot of my buddys will just take a fresh bud and snap the tip off to pack a bowl. Whereas im the opposite, i hate finding buds with the tips gone lol.

I work from the bottom up as well. Towards the end it looks like a long stem with a tiny pointy bud at the end.
if i need to preharvest some, i usually take the middle of the road buds. the one´s that wont really become big but got enough light so they are good enough to smoke.
which actually includes the top really, it never becomes that big, i find that the biggest buds are closer to halfway down.
that is, If i have vegged the plant so that it has 4 equal tops that dont get in the way of eachother competing for the light.(their weight pulls them away from eachother) so light penetrates equally strong all the way down, getting light to most of the lower buds or all. (Allowing for the reduction in strength by distance)
also, if you cut off a bud, but leave some of the budstructure left, it will regenerate, allowing for a second cutting later or added weight to the harvest.
instead of cutting at the stem where it wont regenerate.
see, if anything is left of the bud, thats enough for it to keep on growing, even if it is just a tiny pistil (might want to leave 1/4 or more, regenerates faster)
as long as you dont cut too much from each plant, they wont slow down, basically if the bud has enough light, you can in some cases come back and cut some more in about 2 days (optimum conditions and the right sort of bud (its more like a week with other strains)
so a bit from each plant would be the best plan(this actually stimulates the plant as well, bit, though not enough to make it a regular practice but it does make somewhat up for having cut early.the buds will regenerate)
(incidentally, male plants are even better at recovering, cut every flower off and just leave leaves and they will regenerate, even if you left no flowers. its bit handy if you have no extra space and want to seed the females bit later in the grow)

i always save the nicest bud out of whatever i get. i have a jar with bud from about 20 different strains. i definitely hoard bud.
