About time I start a grow thread! These pics are about 10 days old maybe ... hortonova & trellis started going up a week ago & I don't see any in the pics. Using organic soil with amendments top-dressed and watered into the soil every 2-3 weeks. Holes in the ground are large (many are 6-8 foot diameter).

Soil: North American Organics garden mix

amendments:
stutzman sup'r green chicken 3-2-2
soluble seaweed powder
kelp meal
fish bone meal
mocha bat guano
seabird guano
azomite

Thanks! Things are moving along nice. Just added irrigation with a fertilizer injector :). This is the 4 station, and I have a couple single station. Dig battery controls are cool :)

Been slowly getting the hortanova up. In the little greenhouse we attached to the ceiling and then to each side of the raised beds to make a triangle.

Outdoor girls getting big. Bummed I lost a huge plant to a thirsty rat. Adding a drip emitter and a water bowl to try and keep them off the plants & more traps but in this case they passed up peanut butter and strictly gnawed up the plant and girdled it so hopefully a full dish of water is a good diversion.

Sounds like those rats are trying to pick away at your brain, what little bit you got left of it.
Nice plants, D-Ray would be proud

Fucking vols, that's what my problem is. Rodenticide is going out heavy & half full buckets of water to drown them. Dogs are recalled to home base. Next year I see big ass geopots sitting tall in my holes up out of vols reach.

Plant death toll is at 2 ... Hoping to nip this shit today!

Been having some problems with rodents this year myself. Lost a couple of big ladies, also.
Good ol' fashioned minefield of mouse traps worked out pretty well.
It was a pain, lying under the girls to set them; nipped a finger or two. But well worth it. Didn't even bait the traps. Had 7 confirmed kills by morning. Racking up one here and there now.

Nice plants.
Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your rodent problem. Do you have rats or voles?

Rats are first-class swimmers so, I hope your buckets are tall. Maybe add some antifreeze to the water. Heard that works well. Also, a Jack Russell will take no prisoners. Of course, a regular rat trap works too.

Voles can be killed with a mouse trap as well. Just place the trap perpendicular to the tunnel and cover it with a box. Poison can be placed in the openings of their runways for better targeting and less chance of other animals/children ingesting it.

Deer, rabbit and gopher repellent may work for you too. Even wrapping your pots with wire mesh "could" be a preventative.

Hope this helps. Btw, your plants are looking great!

They seem to like the poison, especially by the water dish ;) I want the propane varmint exploder' for next year, I have so much area to control and really don't like poison. I feel like bill Murray in caddy shack, I pretty much live like him lol.

Luckily the greenhouses don't suffer from root rat.
