Cheap energy...every grower in america needs one of these

I

Iron_Lion

Sadly I dont think the electric companies would ever like us to be independently energy sufficient.

If everyone could generate their own electricity there would be no need for them and so many jobs would be lost if we didn't have to burn dirty coal for our power and have such a complicated distribution system that requires so many people to transmit and maintain.

I think energy independence is wishful thinking, but I do think energy conservation is gaining is more realistic.

Would be interesting to calculate how many cannabis seeds it would take to generate a kilowatt hour with one of them.

These boxes still need to be hooked up to a hydrocarbon based fuel (natural gas, oil, etc)
If you go back and watch the video again you'll see this isn't the case, renewable fuels like bio-diesel and methane gas can also be used, the developer even says solar can be used although I don't see how that would work.

btw, if you did hook it up to natural gas it is supposed to use half as much gas as a conventional power plant. The guy at Google said they've saved over $100,000.00 in electrical costs in the year since the Bloomboxs were installed.

lol, you should go back and watch the vid again dude 'cause the 'wireless' aspect refers to your wired connection to the grid, with a Bloombox you no longer need that wired connection as you would be generating all your electricity on-site with your Bloombox, ...think generator but running on natural gas. You still need wires from the Bloombox to the house, lol.

One of these babies takes you completely off-grid, no fucking smart-meters on a natural gas line.

Peace, and stay safe, SOG

This would be great if they were available to individuals - both physically and financially accessible, and of course continue to work as advertised. But I can see these being available only for power companies and corporations, which in itself wouldn't be bad, considering the reduced use of fuel. Without a paradigm shift, I don't see these becoming available for use by individuals. Power generation companies simply have too much to lose, and they are going to fight\subvert\coopt this technology if it appears to be a threat.

It is the case. Everything I said was true. Methane and bio diesel are hydrocarbon fuels. And the box needs a constant source of this.

And the box does not run off solar power yet, if ever. The video was edited funny when he said that.

You actually do need to be on the grid. And you do need a meter, smart or not. OR you can have a storage tank of fuel, but that will need to be refilled just like an oil heaters tank needs to be refilled.

I'm not downing the power source.

If this is true and not some rotten hoax - it would change the world in ways we can't even imagine.

You can generate methane from pig shit! So this would mean that you could run a farm, with x amount of pigs, to provide you with all the energy you need.

Creating your own energy would allow you to run greenhouses - to produce crops - to feed your pigs. If you ran your farm in a sustainable and organic manner you could be virtually self-sufficient.

Would still be products you would need that you couldn't grow on your farm i.e bloomboxes - which they say should eventually be 3000$ for a normal house unit, but you could cashcrop for money to pay for those .

AND ALL THE BACON YOU COULD EVER EAT from your herd of methane producing pigs. :)

Gonna mean that the most valuable commodities in the world are going to be the same as they allways were. Land and water.

Anyways just gave my dream of being self-sufficient a big boost. A lot easier to farm when you can apply such techniques as artficial lighting and climate controlled greenhouses without having to pay for energy.

Just did a bit more research.

3000$ pr 1kw unit is their target price :(

Not that good - but if they manage to improve the technology, and reduce the cost pr kw they will be golden.
