London Burning... :(

This is the ugliest it has been in the capital in living memory. Many of the perpetrators are already a blight within their communities and this will not help anyone to achieve a better future.

Lives, homes and businesses wrecked and everyone foots the bill for the cleanup. People are sick of the climate of fear that's been created; be it from the establishment/media or the parasites that prey on the innocent within communities.

The major concern is for the met to give a proportionate response to all this and not to up the stakes...they don't have a great record on this.

The political point scoring has got to stop; how crass is it to make these petty arguments when it's clear that the situation must be brought under control before more lives are ruined. Spare a thought for those now homeless, jobless and living in fear...these aren't the super rich or elite ruling class but regular everyday people.

You can have an opinion but you can't have your own facts.

The facts are the piece of shit pulled out a gun and shot the cop, and the cop has a bullet lodged in the radio where the radio save his life.
wrong.facts his gun wasnt used at that moment and was in a sock,it was a bullit from an other officer that was in the radio

So many people talking out of their own asses...quite impressive!
The dead man did not pulled any gun out. FACT
The death of the man did not cause the riots. FACT
And i did not know that there were so many cops smoking pot and using this forum.
This is the only explanation i can find for so many comments supporting a stronger and more violent intervention from the police forces. Sad self righteous bastards in my humble opinion.

Here's a suggestion. It's been 4 pages with lots of people on both sides of this debate throwing "facts" around. How about we post some links to corroborate our stories as we defend them?

I've seen one link in 4 pages...

How do you guys know what you "know"?

Facts can be corroborated. Unconfirmed facts are suspicions or opinions.

Facts about the shootout where the poor fellow died

The IPCC says the Forensic Science Service has also confirmed that the bullet lodged in a police radio was police issue and consistent with being fired from a police gun.

The Independent Police Complaints commission says ballistic test results so far show no evidence that a handgun found at the scene of the fatal police shooting of Mark Duggan had been fired. It says the Forensic Science Service is carrying out further tests to confirm this.

I don't care if they do or don't just so long as they recognize what they say was wrong and stop saying it.

I know what I know from a radio news report I heard about the riots in London. The station I listen to doesn't have it's own news gathering crew and therefore uses other sources and since I'm unsure of who their sources were on this story I couldn't be sure of what link if any would be correct for supporting my post about the causes of the riots.

The problem with posting specific links is it allows people to pick apart a story not based on the facts of the story but rather people's opinions of the integrity of the source. This doesn't really strengthen a debate but rather it dilutes it further. One can readily find links on google or any major search engine to the story and corroborate or disprove what has been said.
