How do you speed up the ripening at late flowering

thats real strange, the stuff works solid, trust me! been using it for over 10 years! wheather you use GHR or another forcing solution, they work fast! & its very noticable(within 3-5 days)! your normal shit aint no Ripening/Forcing solution bro!

Forcing solutions work by force stressing the plant into exactly that! stress ripening! its fast as fk but will cause nanners if your not carefull with them & use them sparingly!(dont matter about nanners at the very end of ripening(so much)-what can they do?)

a solid answer to your issue bro! maybe you should of looked at it & its effects a little more.
Works solid for me, apart from using at high EC & for over a week(use for no more than 7 days imo) shit works exactly as it says on the bottle/tin!

why does methanol work? what is a forcing/ripening solution used for??

The only reason i point this stuff out, is it serves its purpose well, does the job if used properly., Its not a PK or standard bloom formula, its a forcing solution(force ripening)??(might i add with 0% nitrogen)

Well scrogerman,I'll search a little more on ripen tonight.

What I think is the best, is to use something ''extra'' while leaving the nute solution intact to let the plant absorb what they need.Exactly what methylene should be good for.

However I have some question for you about ripen.I know you're familiar with dwc...should I use alone or along straight nutes?I think the best should be used alone, while the plant ''feel'' no NPK in the medium, right?

What ppm or ec I should use?My plants are growing at 1.1 mS\cm but I think raising at 1.1 with only ripen is way too much, or am I wrong?

If I remember ripen tends to drop pH...true?

and the last.... speed up ripening is for me a ''necessity'' in this case, why do you use ripen?

Thank you as ever buddy, hope to light one with you someday :)

Prob right - I was thinking of this during dark period, hormones don't need open stomata for absorption, and the cooler temps and closed ventilation would be optimal...

Counter to Co2 use, which does req open stomata for intake.

Hang some green bananas in the grow at nite - keep them in a "green bag" during the day, empty the accumulated gas back into grow. Prob best for small cab grows, or areas where bananas are plentiful...

Hmmmm - and bananas are delicious, so eat them, and enjoy the potassium...

Tonight and tomorrow and the day after too I will eat only bananas :D so I can fill my room plenty of peels and make some ethylene.
The plan should be to let'em produce ethylene during the day, in a closed bag and just when the lights go down I'll open it under the plants.Remove them when the lights turn on and repeat again.
Hope it will help :) thank you

Nice thread!
Low temps during lights out and reducing the available light during the late flowering seems to speed up things a bit. Only my opinion based on experience.

Reading on the bottle of ripen I saw it contains 2% of sulfur (pretty high) and I think it's involved in ripening.
I wonder if taste change...I mean, let enter sulfur in plant tissues at late flowering when the plant sure can't use it all (sulfur is needed in very little concentration) does not sounds so good to me.

Reading on other forums I found some people claiming ripen change taste of pot.......to who of you tried it.....what's your opinion?

you use it on its own before Flush man. id use it 1/2 or 2/3rds strength(max) in dwc(2.5-3.5mls/pl iirc-5 mpl being full strength). It doesnt drop PH. maybe at full strength it would?
Its a force ripening solution, thats why i use it bro. It works!
it would be a pleasure to get wrecked with you one of these days man! N1

On the Sulpher(S) i thought it was 3% actually?. & yes i believe/know it can fk with the taste of your bud if its used too strong for too long.
Just use it 5-7 days max & ensur a good flush time & its fine ime!. no bad tastes then. but yeah warrants caution with use!

the stuff is rated by alot of growers as effective, including Mandala's Mike whom ive seen mention/promote the stuff!

maybe issolate one plant & give it a try if your being cautious. always good to be carefull!

Searching on the web for methanol I discovered that in my county it can't be bought without a permission.
I can find only methanol with additives (oils for motors) used in little RC cars (don't want to spray shits like these on my buds)....and by the way...the pure methanol is fucking expensive.
So, at now I have to exclude methanol to improve ripening speed.
I will look further for it in the future ;)

Yeah I know. But if you want to speed up photosynthesis and sugar production (aka ripening) this is really the only way I know to do it.

When you spray methanol you are spraying almost pure carbon.

But like I said. It works. hands down. but it was too expensive to use on grapes. But this crop has a higher return per lb.

But I only posted this to inform those reading that IMO, if you want to speed up the cycle. increase sugars and crop, this is it. All other things don't make the plants do what force feeding carbon does. Period.

Good luck

What about the solubility of the oils on the plants?
Seems methanol would dissolve the resins, that would suck.

products like megabud, dr nodes and bushmaster will shorten flower time but with slight reduction in production and possible health risks that being said plenty of warehouse type of shows use the shit religiously

ripen is just a PK fertilizer. i would not use it during flushing

just give the plants the nutrients they want and you'll be fine. you'll see how much they use by measuring the drain

usually at the end of the grow, after flowering day 45, 50 or so, they'll already want less nutes and around day 60, 70 (for the standard indoor sativa/indica hybrid) they'll hardly take up any nutrients at all anymore. then it's time for flushing. which is not only good for flushing nutes out of the system but also to get rid of nitrogen in the plants, which is good because nitrogen promotes vegetative growth and less of it promotes flowering (-> finishing), and also because nitrogen is responsible for the green color, chlorophyll, which makes the smoke harsh

No one want to use it as a flushing product.Ripen should be used before flushing, a week or so....

The main concern is about taste. As wrote, it contains pretty high amount of sulfur, and I think this is the key to improve ripening but at the same time I will be not happy to smoke sulfured buds.
Probably I will try it in safe mode ( only one plant) , or will not use it at all, I don't know.
The plants are at 72 days of flowering and luckily they start to show a lot of dried pistils with few new shots, so I really don't know what I am going to do....
however this thread teach me new things and this is good.Tomorrow I'll put banana's peels in the grow and hope to gain a couple of days....

thanks icmaggers :)

Pure methanol can be purchased as gas line antifreeze in small quantities. About $4 for 500 ml. If you can only find one that's diluted with water, you could always boil off and condense the methanol.

Why would this work? If you want them to fatten up, dont you want more light, so the plant can get more energy to produce buds?

If that method is not for fattening the buds up, and just making the trichs go amber... isnt it a waste of a grow, not letting the buds reach their potential maximum weight?

old post but , vegetative growth = more light
flowering growth = more dark

Tested myself on 5 different plants with 12/12 at start of flowering , half way through I lower light and extend night too 11/13 then last two weeks 10/14, higher trichome production, more dense and compact

Ok guys, I searched some infos on the subject but didn't find anything noticeable...

I read various techniques in the past from several people about speed up the ripening of a plant in late flowering.I mean, some kind of plants are just slow to ripen, and will not fatten up anymore, but just let the pistils fall down and turn its thricomes from clear to cloudy\amber.How do you speed up this process?

I just wonder if any of you has some tips, in the past I used GHE ripen, but didn't notice any speed up, I work in rdwc btw...

girdling them should hasten the flowering but i think its a bit extreme , im pretty sure it will give you the quickening you desire though ...
