Can you rig some shades for em from the outside for when you go in?

Not a bad suggestion. Someone around these parts has some cool bucket shades on pulleys but I don't know if I have the vertical space for such fun. Once I get the lights hung, I'll try to figure out some easy way to shade things.

Thanks everybody. You guys rock!

Ok. Got the fan & exhaust hose hung and I've got most of the reflectix up.

Wanted to take a break to smoke a bowl, so I snapped a couple of pictures for you guys.

I'm going to be working on getting the lights hung before I go to bed tonight. If I get the lights hung, I'll put the moms in there tonight and get them cranking into high gear.

Gonna look pretty empty in there with only 6 moms instead of 70 babies... but it's just a matter of time at this point.

Thanks for hanging in there!

It'll only get better from here.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

So around 2 am last night I got my lights on and then discovered I had left the camera on for several hours and the battery was dead.

Had to wait until this morning to snap these:

Whole cab. (You can see the ballast room in the upper left.)

So basically, I have 6 mini mamas who have gone from sharing 252w of overhead CFL light in a cramped 17"x17" space since they were cloned about a week or so ago to sharing 800w of vertical CMH.

My hope is that the CMH will help them grow fast and strong so that I can cut at least 12-15 clones off of each in the very near future.

The sooner the better.

This is looking great bro! What a cool build... Sorry if you answered this before but how close do u expect the lower level of plants to get to the lights?

If you out any type of reflector inbetween the lights won't it cause more hotspots for the plants in the center?

Why don't you stick all those plants together to save a lil juice lol :D Just pulling your leg dude, I'm rooting fer ya. Pretty sure you will do very well out of this set up mate, a lot of planning went into it ay...

How's the temperature in there? Great room Anti.

So far so good. I threw a little in/out thermometer in there but the battery's dead. Gotta go buy a battery to know for sure, but it feels like mid 70's to me. I'll get a battery and get the thermometer up and running and let you know the exact temp soon.

If they only grow as tall as the same plants in the same containers grew under CFL, they will top out around 13" tall. If they do that, they will come up to the top lip of the upper tier. So they will finish right beneath where the lights currently are sitting.

If you out any type of reflector inbetween the lights won't it cause more hotspots for the plants in the center?

Yeah. I'm still kicking around the idea. Building it would be easy. Hanging it so that it is perfectly centered and I can still move the table when necessary will be a challenge.

Seeing all the great work that's being done in vert-world, I've been thinking about ways to take my CFL Mini-SOG to new heights.

Here's what I'm getting under 252w of CFL currently (Perpetual SOG):

Serious AK-47 budsicles in 2.5"x2.5"x10" tree pots:

For reference, the plant you see in the first two pictures above is in a container that is 2.5"x2.5"x10" and the plant itself is about 13" tall from tip to soil.

A recent smoke off plant pictured above. the nug in the photo is one of the small ones near the bottom.

I love these containers (Mini Tree Pots MT2510) but when the plant gets big, it's easy for them to fall over. So I was trying to think of a way to setup a colosseum grow using these containers without having to fear a domino effect.

Here's what I came up with:

picture.php

Basically, 4 plants per shelf, with holes cut into the top of the shelf to allow the plant container to hang suspended.

The green cylinders represent the approximate size of the bud you see in the first pictures. That's what happens when I drop my newly rooted 2" tall clone in one of those containers.

So then I basically built a stadium that utilizes a total of 12 shelving units like the one above:

In the pics, I've basically just divided the entire room in half and hung each light in the center of its half of the room.

Entire room is about 6.5ft long x 2.5ft wide

I'd put fans under the lights, of course.

Planning on 2 x 400 CMH.

Anybody care to comment?

Suggestions on ventilation, criticism, personal attacks?

your buds are some of the best ive ever seen, this is quality u dont get of hid lighting.

I dunno about "best ever" but thanks. The reason I went with the CMH instead of HPS is because of the balanced spectrum CMH is said to produce.

I'm hoping to get similar results. That being said, I have a run of 9 plants in my CFL cab right now while I wait for the clone #s to be able to fill up the colosseum. So I should have some of the CFL grown bud still around when the first harvest comes out of the colosseum.

I will try to remember to post pics of both, since they'll be from the same mom, in the same pots with the same food. The only difference will be vert vs. horizontal and of course, the bulbs.

Actually, there will be another slight difference.

They'll be getting watered a LOT more often and automatically in the E&F tables vs. once per 48-hour submersion.

Also, I will be using coco instead of peat/perlite.

So... same plant, same container, everything else different. :)

I surfed hours in the web to check any information about those CMH's I could find. Here in germany - in whole europe you cant even buy a CMH.
Here we get some similiar lamps called CDM or HCI, but not with 400w or e40 socket.

Well and the infos about spectrum and l/w, heat and better depth effect were so overwhelming that I "downgraded" my future vert-grow from 600w mh/hps to 400w cmh. And it all started with reading your thread. :p THX
I just love the idea of giving the plants the most perfect surrounding possible... The best is just good enough ;)

So I wish you good luck and fun with your grow! cya around

Hanging it so that it is perfectly centered and I can still move the table when necessary will be a challenge.

If you want to do it, consider mounting it on the frame, and moving the whole table+center reflector relative to the lights (as you will already be doing...).

This is to reduce rebound interference and max every lumen, right?

I personally might skip that part of the build, but if you attach it to the table... well, that might get yourself around that problem.
