My scrog box - 2xBagseed, 400W HPS

Hello everyone,
I recently properly started my first scrog grow and thought I could share some info about it on here. I've got 2 bagseed plants that I vegged for ages (under a measly 144W of T8s) and a week ago, I borrowed my mate's grow box and took my old 400W HPS lamp with an el cheapo Chinese Son-T Agro knockoff bulb out of the closet. I've transplanted the plants to these huge pots we had laying around and they seem to be coming along nicely. They're two confirmed females, below you'll find a pic of the preflowers on one of them. I'll probably let them veg for another ten days (going away on monday) and let them fill out the screen nicely and then switch to 12/12. Questions, comments and criticism are welcome.

Looking good. Since you have trained them and grew them broad and stout, you essentially saved yourself from some headaches during flowering. Now when you do bloom, you won't have any issues with ceiling and will be able to just let those colas fill out to the maximum! :) The 600 on two plants - of that stature - will bring much much joy i think, and much much nug to!

Thanks for the feedback!
@Sinse: Actually, it's just a 400W, but I'm considering putting the other one that I have in there for flowering. I'll see when I get back in around 10 days, and I hope my friends that I'm having look after them will tend to them properly, lol

Also, I just decided to switch them to 12/12 now since the stretch is probably gonna give me enough space problems as it is, and letting them veg for another 10 days would probably be too much.

Can you raise the screen at all? It looks like it could use a few more inches if you want to let your plants veg for another week before the flip. I like to let the plants fill the screen during the stretch. It gives a more even canopy than letting the plants grow through too far.

I could raise it if I really wanted to, although it'd be a bit of a pain. But the screen is only held in place by friction. And yeah I'm planning to let them completely fill out the screen during the stretch too, which is why I switched to 12/12 now rather than when I get back.

Does look good, I just got a 400 watt myself, growing scrog as well. I agree, flip now, stretch will fill screen, good luck.

I just got back from my vacation and was delighted to see that the ladies have filled out very nicely. They're on day 10 of 12/12 now by the way.

And here come the pics:

Looking very nice. I had mixed feelings when you mentioned some friends were going to watch them during the beginning of flower, but they came through.

Can't say I know anyone I would trust to do the same in my area.

Yeah, I have a couple friends I trust enough (although one of them was too lazy to actually go and look after them, but luckily the one who knows the most about growing took care of them) to do this stuff. He tied them down really nicely on sunday and we did the same again today, hopefully the last time this was necessary. I'm gonna take some pics of them bound down later on, right now the cam is charging. Also, I just noticed the activated carbon scrubber was missing from my fan assembly (don't ask me why I didn't notice before), gonna have to fix that by either getting it from my friend who the grow box belongs to or ordering one online (or maybe even building one)

Edit: Here's a pic of them tied down again. You can't really see the work that went into doing it though, lol

I'm back with a new round of pics, sorry for the absence. My plants have started to yellow on some leaves, not sure whether this is in the normal range or if I should be concerned... I fed them a bit stronger than usual today, and mixed half a dose of veg nutes with half a dose of bloom nutes, we'll see how it goes.

another one

And here's a shot of the clone I cut off when I accidentally snapped the stem of one of the plants off, it took a while to root and settle in in its pot, but now it's growing at a healthy pace.

I just was wondering the same exact thing a week or two ago about my plants when the leaves started doing the same thing. I think you're straight as that is what the plants do with lower fan leaves that aren't getting as much light and are "eaten" by the plant for nutrients. Mine have continued to do this but still only the lower leaves that aren't receiving enough light. Check out my other thread in the infirmary and see what you think, there is some good input and feedback from experienced growers in there. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=217853

*Edit* - Forgot to mention that it looks like you're doing a good job man, the girls are looking good. What day of flowering are you on now?

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the input and am reading through your thread right now in another tab. I'm planning on getting some pH test strips tomorrow to rule out that factor, too. I'm also starting to believe that it's just normal leaf drop, though. The girls are on day 21 of 12/12 today.

Nice looking grow. Do you check for bugs weekly? I can't tell from the pictures, it may be just dust, but I would give your plant(s) a nice looking over for bugs. Check underneath the leaves and look as close as you can.

As far as the two leaves, I wouldn't worry unless it starts to spread, looks like normal leaf drop. Check your PH, feed normally, don't over react.

Hope this helps +1 for the good looking grow, nice full screen. : )

Shit. I just noticed this morning that some of the buds on the right plant are pollinated. There was a single nanner one a single bud that seems to have done this, I hope the plant isn't gonna make more little penises, and that I didn't miss one. Pics to follow

EDIT:
Here are some pics of the (partially) seeded buds

I ran into the same problem man. In my situation I have been able to pic them off as they never got too out of hand. I know you've got an additional challenge 'cause you are rocking the screen but you can make it happen if you want to. If it gets out of hand and you want to try and finish flower then check out dutchmasters reverse. Good luck.

Yeah, I think I'll just have to be more careful with light leaks and shit, I think that's the problem (I went into the room after dark once and turned the light on, big mistake as it seems now). Thanks for the advice. I just hope that not too many buds have been pollinated so far

Oh man. Just discovered some more male flowers today and I have a suspicion that there are more that I haven't found yet, because on the other side of the tent from where I first found the seeded buds, I found some more seeds in the making. I'm just hoping that it won't get much worse at this point and trying to take all the stress away from the plants, but for my next grow, I'll definitely take some "real" strains to avoid things like this.
