Does Bud Candy or Sugar Daddy change the flavor?

So whats the final word on the Bud Candy? Does it change the flavor? Does it enhance the flavor? Is it even worth using or is it all a hoax?
I have a bottle of it in the fert room, as well as a bunch of Sugar Daddy. I am hesitant to use it cause I remember reading somewhere that these products change and or kill the unique flavors. If anyone has a story pro or con with coco drain to waste, I would love to hear it.

I have found that sweetener products will make different strains taste similar. Humboldt Nutrients Honey ES is the worst of the bunch, but the Bud Candy isn't much better.

I haven't tried many of the others. I don't think you need to cut them out by week 6 though. I think you can run them right up to the flush. The molecules are far too large for the plant to uptake, instead they are used as fuel for the micro-fauna in the media. This increases their reproduction rate and helps provide more broken down molecules (bacterial poop basically) that your plant can consume.

I am not certain of the process which causes the similar flavor with sweeteners but I am certain of the results.

If you'd like to enhance your resin profile then my suggestion would be to apply BioCanna BioBoost as a foliar spray twice a week at lights on until day 40 and to use Cutting Edge Solutions Uncle John's Blend throughout flowering (0-0-2) at 10ml per gallon. These two products have given me FANTASTIC and near amazing results with regards to my resin and turpin profiles.

this is what I am afraid of. I remember this being the case. Thanks for the reply.

This is why we use the carbo's. I just need to find a product that blows the buds up, but does not change smell or taste. the search continues.
any sugars should be cut in 5th or 6th wk of flo
Can you expand on this please. I'm interested what you found by doing so.

I agree with you, but find the price of the boost a major turn off. I did not find the boost did enough to warrant the cost

I have used the cutting edge stuff before. It worked well. Maybe i will give the uncle johns another go round :)

Sugar Daddy??

Sugar Daddy??

Im using 6ml FloraMicro and 9ml Flora Bloom as my base. I handwater in straight coco. The only additive im using currently is Mother earth Bloom tea from Advanced. I put 2Tbsp in every 5 gal mix. I have a lot of Suggar Daddy from TechnaFlora sitting around, I never use the stuff indoors, only on the outside gardens, mainly the veggies and whatnot. A friend told me to try it on the Herb. Will suggar Daddy mess with the flavors and the smells also?

Yes and no :) and I'm only speaking about bud candy here

It makes a strain with the typical dank taste and sweet undertones more... well sweet whatever the sweet undertone is becomes enhanced ime. check my sig for a fuller explanation 2nd to last page (I think for the econclusion)

I get BioBoost by the 250ml for $25. As a foliar spray only I use maybe 5-10ml per week. When you break it down like that, and apply it only as a foliar spray, $25 for the additions that I see is definitely worth it in my own garden. To each their own though :)

I'm not really digging the CES lineup all that much but the moment the UJB got added resin just exploded out of every leaf. Definitely something I want to mess around with in the future, I mean, it could have been the Plant Amp for all I really know... But the UJB is what I hear is the good stuff.

The make an organic sweetener at CES called Sugaree that is a 0-0-2 and is a lot like UJB but with organic poly-saccharides and whatnot. I'm probably not about to add that to my own regiment but it's a newer sweetener on the market which may, or may not, have the same blanketing taste effect as other sweeteners.

Yes, budcandy will make everything smell and taste similar. I strongly dislike the stuff. Use carboload instead

ARGHH. i USED carboload.. iT HAD THAT SWEET TASTE..
I am looking for a way to feed the microherd without imparting that sweet taste on my buds....I am thinking that cutting the sweets after week 6 is the way I'm gonna go.
AND the K shot, like Uncle Johns , hmm???
My plants REEK of roadkill skunk with a sweet, yet sour twist, I want that skunky, acrid, diesel fuel like burning tire smell n taste to shine through. Not the sweet part. It will be there on the taste anyway.. Im looking to keep the complex layers of smells n taste's, yet feed coco's microherd..

I've been thinking about picking the berries from all the bushes around here (mostly blackberry) and using them as a sweetener/carb source. I figure they're free, and the birds just use them for ammunition anyway.

I have a juicer so I'll probably just use that to get rid of the skins and use the juices. I figure I'll only need a few ml of the stuff per gallon, maybe 10. Couldn't hurt... I hope...

I've been reading about people that actually use Gatorade (I know... I know... it's what plants want) as it contains a fairly large amount of low molecular weight carbohydrates as well as a good deal of electrolyte cations (including too much Sodium IMO). Not something I'd ever employ myself but perhaps there are more adventurous people than I here.

Carboload doesn't change the taste of buds at all or make them sweeter.

Ok. so your saying Carboload DOES NOT change the taste or flavor profile of any strain.. Is that what your sayin??? I got a "sweet" taste outa my carboload experimentation. Maybe i used too much,??? Or maybe i used it too far into flower, and used too much.. Talk to me.

I don't know what bud candy makes buds taste all the same but mine sure as hell didn't not to be a dick but have any of you guys done any side by sides using these products as the link in my sig is exactly that using 4.8kw testing it on over 180 plants (10% of em on bud candy, 10% of em on molasses and panela and 80% as the control) until those kinda of tests are performed to be fair everything else is just hearsay imho :)

I've never seen any sort of change in taste or aroma from using carboload. I've used it right up until the end.

ok after reviewing ~sheesh~'s side by side, I still am no better off.. It seems that anything i do is gonna affect the taste. No matter if i use bud candy, which I will not,i just saw the new label on the bottle, and it repulses me..

So thanks ~sheesh~ :tiphat: Very informative post.
The only product I feel safe using is the Carboload. Vado says

I am going to run Carboload powder http://advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/products/carboload/carboload_product_information.php this time on half, the other half, Suggar Daddy

I've never used the raw sweet, but I have used several other versions of sweet. My main problem with those is they put my EC/ppms through the roof. Kind of hard to feed while using it IMO, assuming it is like the other versions of sweet.
