yea when i was like 15 or somethin me and my friends use to break into storage's and garage's and steal power tool's because in my neighborhood there was alway's a standing order for ptools in trade for weed, anyways there was this one garage that had one of those fake dog barking thing's, when we got in and right off we could smell it and the guy had some huge sativas growing they look'd so good but we were so scared we took off running in different directions thinkin we accidentally broke into a dope dealers house(ultimate sin).

... A single cannabis plant can be picked out of the landscape from 2 miles away. Any suggestion that pot plants can be hidden from the air is foolishness.

Just read a front page article in the local newspaper. Our local vegetation is dense and growers plant sporadically. This makes it tough for leo... on the ground. The copters have no problem picking individual plants out of forests.

One paragraph quoted a ground deputy complaining they couldn't even navigate the terrain, let alone see a pot plant three feet away w/o the copter. The next paragraph describes the copter pilot's instructions to the ground, "Extend your left arm @11:00". Otherwise, the deputy on the ground might not see the plant right in front of him.

Ive watche 2 grows for over 10 years.

I have a 1st cousin that owns a little piper cub type plane, and starting in about 2 weeks, he will begin flying the area looking for pot patches. About 15 years ago, his patch was cut. He spent a couple of years getting his pilots license and then leased a smalll plane. 2 years later he had found enough patches to pay for his own little plane. He's quit growing himself, and now just steals other peoples patches.

I strongly disapprove of his activity and he knows it. He believes that if everyone is engaged in illegial activity then there is no honor among thieves. I disagree: Im a pot farmer, not a thief.

On a side note, when he first got his pilots license and leased a small plane i went for a 2hr ride with him. A single cannabis plant can be picked out of the landscape from 2 miles away. Any suggestion that pot plants can be hidden from the air is foolishness.

I appreciate your honesty D.S...that can't be hard to admit, especially on a pot site..
I guess he just figures hes smarter than the growers and that automatically entitles him..sad and unfortunately becoming more and more the common mindset....survival of the sleeziest..

I'll believe that. However, picking out a single plant nestled among native vegetation, from two miles away, regardless of altitude, I just can't buy that.

Yea, wonder how smart he'll feel when he's on his knees and someone jams his severed dick down his throat just after having him dig his own grave.

can anyone elaborate on just why it is so easy to spot from the air?

1 plant from 2 miles away, shit that is insane. i have a few small ones in the back yard, keeping them low and out of neighbor's view, but i do see the police helicopter several times a day, i bet the fully know what i have going on in the back yard hahahaha *keeps that medical note close by*

Not sure. Some say it's the distinct shade of green. Others mention ground-temp variations from cleared plant sites.

I don't know where two miles away or infinite altitude ideas came from. The article I referenced was about a county sheriff's helicopter working in tandem with deputies on the ground. In this scenario, a helicopter hovering overhead would have to be +10,000 feet, lol. They're actually no more than several hundred feet above their counterparts on the ground.

When I was 15 we were walking past a building in a housing project and I spotted my first plant..was like 2' tall, vegging in July. We ran over and ripped it up and dried it in the oven and didnt get high. We eventually talked to the dude who lived there - he said he didn't even know, he throws he's beans out the window and one must've grown. Other than that no....I've seen other friends grows but never really stumbled upon one.

I have found more abandoned grow sites than active sites myself. Its kinda cool to think that someone else had the same idea as you, lol. I have however found a couple active sites in my day. Turned out I knew the growers every time, lol. Except one...
Me and my GF at the time were camping on the beach in Hawaii.. we had a 79' VW bay window and were young and in love. we literally lived on the beach, catching fish and lobsters every day to eat.Only going in to town when we wanted to escape the beach,lol.. It was epic time :)
Anyway, we went pee behind these certain bushes for 6 months straight, I knew every rock and bush in the dark.. It was home..
WELL, one day i go to piss and Im pissing ang looking at the sky and LO AND BEHOLD, I'm pissing on a garden of 12" seedlings that were dehydrated and dying out on the lava flow. I look around and see lots of dead plants, just crispy and dead, but these 12 had survived somehow, and I was pissin on them,lol....So me and the GF watered them awaiting the return of the person who left them there, no luck.. after 14 days I realized they were not coming back. So we up potted the 12 survivors and ended up getting 12.5 pounds from them. The tags said Honeydew.. I later met the guy who did that garden, and he said it was the strain Honeydew from Honeydew Ca. .. That was Big Island Hawaii 1998 when we found that garden..

True story :) They all got 1lb.. It was amazing. Good thing too cause my Daughter was born that DEC. we harvested in Oct and we had the most Bud I have ever had at that point in my life.. It lasted till next yr after all was said n done i was giving it away and after awhile, i could not even do that. It was an epic harvest for sure :)

Several years ago I Stumbled into one once; deep in the bush, saw well over 200 big plants, in groups of 15-20 through several clearings. There must have been more if I looked further. It was truly an amazing sight , and very well camouflaged & maintained. I then suddenly realized this wasn't someone's personal shit, I mean how the hell are you gonna grow that many bushes for yourself. Seriously I'm not shitting, some of those plants were the size of a vw, and they weren't even in full flower yet!

Well; after realizing I just stepped into some serious op, I felt an overwhelming sense of danger, so I tippy-toed the fuck out! The whole time while I was leaving, I had to stop/duck periodically & listen for any sounds of human activity. Honestly, I didn't feel safe until I got back to my truck, & was back on the road again. And even then I kept looking at the rear view mirror to check who was driving behind me.

That's some scary shit.

I've come across several old and several current grows, all small. I experienced a somewhat reverse situation... Years ago I developed a great spot by cutting and burning a small clearing in thick willows. I eventually totally enclosed it in chicken wire and had growing willow branches bent and tied across to create a visual screen from aircraft. Got some great harvests out of that spot. Unfortunately it was too good to be true. The Mexican cartels started growing in the area and it became too hot. There was even a bust where their operation had been staked out by trained US Army observers on the surrounding hill tops. So sadly I had to abandon my prime spot.

1986 Was out riding a new honda 250rx quad racer ( no reverce) looking for a place to fish on red rock creek. I came to the I35 bridge and tought it would be a great place to noodle around the riffraff(big bolders of lime stone). I look for a way to get to the creek and see a small trail leading to a row of trees. Pull up to the treeline and see a path cut through 50' to a clearing on the creek side.
Drive through the path and see another tree line. To my right about 100' there is a feeder creek. So I tought I would go and check it out. I drive as far as I can and pull up to a tree and get off and check out the feeder creek. When I was done I had to push the quad backwards (no reverce) to turn it around.

The weeds were 3' high and damn thick. I get slaped in the face by this fricken weed HARD. Damn thing got me in the eyes. With my eyes still closed and realing in pain I smell IT!
The sweetest pine and skunk mix of POT! My eyes start to clear up and what do I see. I just run over about 50 plants.

Grabed a few vegging tops and left. A week later I went back to dig one up but a flood wiped them all out.

While doing some insurance inspections, I had to go in the attic and found at least 30 plants in full flower. The guy looked like he was going to shit when I said I have to go up there but he really had no choice. He was renting his moms house and she was there... The house was trashed and the mom was kicking them out. I took the kid aside and told him what a troll he was for putting his mom at risk since the house was not his. Obviously I did not call the cops but did let his mom know. She said that explains why the house keeps getting broke into.. I did not report it to the insurance company either. The mom would prolly have to spend a $1000 to fix what the little troll did to the wiring. Amazed the place did not burn down....The mom was pissed but I felt I had to tell her because in this day and age she prolly would have gotten in trouble too.. BTW insurance inspections is a good field to be in, very busy and plenty of work...I did 50 inspections in one day at 20 per and ya work out of your house...
