Nice looking harvest, but I wouldn't smoke that powder...the Ak looks too far gone for health reasons. The plant itself looks good otherwise...nice crystal production.

Also, I am not sure if you have grown that headband. I think it might be a little prone to powder so I'd take some preventative measures just in case.

How did you like those smart pots? I have been thinking about getting some. Keep it growing.

Good heads up - thanks man. It's funny what you don't notice when you're hands-on with the plants, but you catch when you're looking at photos.. I see (I think?) a spot or two of PM in that picture, .. Though it certainly doesn't seem to be "devastating" in terms of the scale/amount, nor how it's affecting the plant itself..

I've got no experience with PM - once the plant is chopped and is dead, does the PM live on? What are the effects if someone were to mistakenly smoke some herb that had a bit of PM?

And if smoking it is absolutely out of the question, what about cooking with it?

I've never grown it, but I'm on top of everyone now with some preventative crap for the PM.

They seem to work really well. Absolutely zero roots spiraling around the edge of the pot aimlessly. I put a picture of the Blue Dragon rootball up a while ago - I'll do the same for the Purple Diesel and the Green Candy.

Well, I was talking to a friend the other day. He said..."when you see a spot of mildew on the leaf, it is not a spot at all...it is the top of a mildew mountain and that is just the most concentrated part of the infection."

I have wondered and still wonder if hash could be made...I would say iso hash would kill any harmful spores but it does not give you quite the quality of smoke that ice hash gives you. Ice hash on the other hand, maybe would be clean but probably not completely...

I think when making butter and oil for cooking...the temp gets so hot that it kills the spores...might not be right about that either..but it is definitely the safer way to ingest it.

I went to the medical cup the other day and got a bubba sample that I notice after the fact that it had powder here and there...once I noticed it...I could taste it and I know it is bad for my lungs....hard to rap you head around the smoke making you feel better while at the same time destroying your lungs. Anyway, sorry for the rant...I have enjoyed the show so far....

Are you planning on running that vision cloud next time also?

Interesting, .. I wonder (thinking out aloud here) what the exposure/risk is if, say, a bud leaf (but NOT the bud it's near) is infected, .. Trim the infected part and carry on? I have seen it done with bud rot, .. Almost like a moldy piece of cheese - cut out the mold, keep on with your sandwich makin'..

Good question. I've been told it's a pretty racy buzz, can lead to some paranoia/anxiety.. That doesn't appeal to me at all - I'm wired a bit fidgety as it is, so I'm always seeking the OTHER direction.

I gave my cuts & mom to a buddy, .. I figure I'll let him do the donkeywork on the grow, sample it, and then I'll decide.

This is [probably] the last run 'til winter time. (Unless I can get the stink under control in the meantime) Yet to finish are the AK, a similar styled Purple Mr. Nice, similar Green Candy, and a big Headband..

Both were the same size/age when they went into the oven..

Purple Diesel: 34.2 g

Green Candy: 45.5 g

These Candy buds are hard as a rock. The Purple Diesel buds are beautiful, a little more sexy, but not as dense..

Up next: AK-47, currently at day 58. Showing no signs of finishing up soon, though. Kind of odd. Not a single leaf has started to yellow..

I usually use the ona gel when the stink gets out of control....pretty much like NOW.
I put a tablespoon or less in a saucer and aim a small fan ( like the smallest one at target) on the gel...I usually refill it once a day...sometimes more, sometimes lesss.... harvest is really the time I use it the most...its like 40 bones for the gallon size and for your scene, it should last about a half year or more...
anyway, keep it growing.

Even though you are growing organic, you still might have to check the ph of your solutions. without a good source of hummus or lime, its hard to uptake the nutrients you are feeding. It looks like that, or possibly not enough food. good luck and don't overwater em.

Well.. There were a few spots of PM, but definitely not an "infestation" or anything on a large scale.. A few hotspots on a leaf here and there, but nothing beyond that. No buds have been affected, .. Really, no worse for the wear!

Congrats on your first harvest Silver Hawaiian!! I agree your yields were impressive for plant size and size of your light!! Sweet..
I just read your thread from start to finish and imo your plants were suffering from ph being out of whack. FFOF stabilizes the correct ph for mj (5.5-6.50) better than any of the complete organic potting mixes...and plants respond beautifully.If you notice your girls starting to get brown leaves etc it is usually a mag deficiency..again caused by incorrect ph..This will happen after 6-8 wks with the FFOF.. One easy solution is mixing a tblspn of pulverised dolomite lime with a gal of water. Water plants once and continue normal feeding scedule.Good luck and enjoy the fruits of your labor

So here's what's on deck:

AK-47 in Rainbow Mix, straight water throughout, .. Currently at day 61, showing no signs of slowin'. No yellowing has begun.

Purple Mr. Nice (SOG style) & Headband (mom) shortly after that.

And another Headband (SOG style) shortly after that.

That will end this project, with the organic willie.

I'll fire it back up soon enough, .. But it'll be a hydro gimmick then.

THE QUESTION: What kind of setup?

I've got a bunch of free TF nutes, so what the heck.

I'm leaning between a DWC (old fashioned bubblin' buckets), or an ebb-and-flood setup, ..

Ultimately, I'm looking for that sweet spot of cost-v-yield.

Probably going to be a SCROG with a few different strains. Up to 4, I'd think.

Thoughts? I suppose what it boils down to is, what's going to allow me the largest root system?! Maybe too much space in an ebb-and-flood is taken up by hydroton..?

DWC would be w/ 3 gallon buckets, for the height concern..

I got a 3-pack of these from the store a while back, "Thanks for shopping!" style. (The best kind).

I've been using the Trinity, Amino Aide, and Big Swell exclusively, so far, on my Purple Mr. Nice.

Not terribly impressed. .. Actually fed the experimental Purple Mr. Nice with some ACT today (as the others got, minus the AK, who's on a water-only diet).. Gave up on the experiment..

Aside from the Soul Synthetics line I was feeding, it was in a mix of FFOF/Pro Mix HP/EWC/Lime .. Probably 4:2:1:whatevertheusualispergal

I think I'm supposed to have supplemented the Soul Synthetics line with some other Roots products, .. But it doesn't take long for me to get fed up these days and go "What CAN'T I do with good dirt and some worm shit, bat shit, and seaweed?!"

(An interesting statement, in light of my recent hydro project decision..)

I had the cableman out today, and in preparation, I picked up a quart of the Ona gel.. Seems to have made a noticeable difference! Still no replacement for venting the damned tent out the chimney, but in the meantime..!

AK-47 day 63. No signs of slowin'. Trichs starting to turn cloudy, but everything is still lookin' lush green..

Headband, SOG styl-ee, day 17. Just pruned'er yesterday, took all the scraggly shit off the bottom.

Headband day 39 (?). This is the size/style plant I'll be shooting for going forward.. Unless I can't help myself w/ a SOG styl-ee baseball bat, for shits and giggles.

Plants like the your Headband have worked best for me yield wise (measured in total yield per flowering cycle) in my small 400w cabinet. With your tent you could probably fit nine plants like the headband in your tent at once at 1 square foot per plant. This is what I would be thinking about anyway. Call it a mini-bush SOG.

So glad to see you're still here. I'm thinking that for the next project, I'm just going to jam out some hydro bushes. Probably one shot, max out the tent kinda deal. So I'm figuring on four plants this size, or perhaps a smidgen bigger, with a screen.

If you pack them together and perhaps prune a bit the mini bushes will form a mutually supportive structure and you won't need to stake or screen. If course if you need to take them out late in flowering they will be a hot floppy mess.
