Man I hope this guy never holds elected office or gets too big of a loudspeaker in life, lol. What is with all these people trying to make/tell people do what they want. This article is incredibly close minded. What about medical benefits for pain being undeniably better with indicas? What about all the people that get bugged out/paranoid by any sativas? What about people with anxiety who need relax and not be amped up?

All weed makes your cognitive functions slightly altered or weakened while under the influence in some way. Sativas affect the brain just like indicas while high and neither makes you stupid while not high. I had no problem with calculus sober. I had a little bit while high. Sativas make you scatter brained, indicas make your brain 'calm' while high. I am much better playing video games on indicas than sativas for example...Why? Because I can focus much better and control my hands much more precisely.

I just really disagree with this guys ridiculous belief that any weed makes you 'stupid' while on it and not on it. Maybe I was an anomaly in college at a high rated scholastic university making 3.8+ gpa in 4 years, but I highly doubt I am an 'anomaly' and definitely know that no MJ made me stupid...I smoked a lot before, during and after with not much of a problem with my brain while sober. When I was in hard science classes like calculus or something in bio or intense theory classes I would limit my smoking to 2-3 times a week but had no problems passing the classes with good grades. I don't get where this guy gets off saying any weed makes you stupid and his opinion is mere conjecture yet he uses it as fact. I don't think the guy hangs out with anyone that says, "Yea man I am ripped" or "Man I am trashed"....Sounds like he is confusing what seems to be a personal cultural problem to him concerning other people with his arrogant statement that indicas make people "stupid".

The whole thing is ridiculous and in my opinion just another ninny trying to tell other people what to do but also results in fallout of dissension among those fighting for a cause based on bullshit an a battering ram for our government to use against us or to regulate us. That really pisses me off to be honest.

Maybe indica makes this guy retarded or maybe he is not too bright and just notices it more when he smokes indica, but I've had plenty of laughing nights while smoking indicas pulled at 75+ days and it didn't make us stupid of stultified. Intellectual conversation and creativity flows in conversation regardless of what weed me or my friends smoke.

Now I am not proffering the idea that a lot of sativas don't have a more intellectual or creative aspect to them over indicas, but neither weed makes you dumb and both have undeniable benefits when it comes to medicine.

This kind of crap really hurts everyone in the movement for more liberty concerning MJ. Shame on the writer for throwing false and unsubstantiated claims as well as personal opinion as fact across the board.

well, i personally am bipolar and love both.

when you are high as fuck, naturally, all the time, going low is a blessing.

when you are low all the time, naturally, going high is a blessing as well.

maybe the reason indicas are still that popular is because so many people are high all the time (manic or whatnot) and are tired of it?

(or that people have chickenheads and simply have forgotten sativa? lol and use indica as the next closest thing? (the experience is similar, the base feel is the same.(not the major points what youd notice first, perhaps, but the feel, that special feel that takes some people a few tries to find for the first time.)

Couldn't agree more.

All strains are just names.

Nothing else matters but the head change.

Arguing this is so strange.

I invite anyone, from anywhere, at anytime, to share any single piece of scientific literature suggesting that cannabis was stronger or more potent in the past. I don't believe any such thing exists.

Pretty safe bet seeing as true scientists have been denied access to conduct a rich body of work concerning potency and anything else needing scientific review.

I mean how does one get samples? From street dealers? Farmers?

The studies performed are limited at best and not available for peer review.
To place any credence in the myth about killer weed is just not thinking it through enough. There is a clear agenda to creating this potency myth.
I don't buy it at all.

Today proper testing is not happening, how could it be better in the past?

I too believe in science, unfortunately this subject has been hijacked and poisoned. It will take decades of free open research to even get close to a good picture.

Peace :joint:

You're disagreeing that people have been selectively breeding for potency?

Or you're disagreeing that cultivation techniques have progressed significantly?

You're entitled to believe whatever you want, but all of the observable facts suggest otherwise.

Well its pretty simple actually. The strains aren't gone. Just harder to find. I mentioned Deep Chunk already. I still have Highland Oaxaca Gold as well as a 70's era hawaiian. There are still landrace strains available in several different parts of the world. You'd be surprised how many are still around, and are still quite potent despite genetic bottle necking from small amounts of growers still keeping the strains alive. They certainly haven't improved the strains with such limited selection, but they exist.

All I can tell you is there are numerous people out there with numerous different pure strains dating to the 60s and 70s. Quite simply they still hold their own weight against modern strains. The only people who disagree are the people who have never grown them.

There is nothing that happened in the past 30 years that hasn't happened in thailand, india, pakistan, afghanistan, etc for hundreds of years. Its a naive idea that in 30 years we turned hemp into haze. There have been drug cultivars for hundreds of years, and there has been fiber producing strains for hundreds of years. They just weren't always so distinctly separated in the market the way they are now.

For instance just look up some of the grows done from seeds brought back by soldiers in afghanistan. They are the same seeds and genes that have grown there for centuries. Surely you don't believe Afghanistans pot seeds are based on modern dutch hybrids? Nothing markedly different has happened to the grow scene there in the past hundred years, much less the past 30 years, yet the seeds they grow produce dank weed. Why is that if dank weed was only invented in the past 30 years by seed banks?

The simple answer is it wasn't, and you are misinformed and overly opinionated.

maybe theres no literature ..
however ,, to think its only the past 30 yrs man has bred for potency is fairly off ...
what do you reckin they were doing all the years before?
and how do you think we ended up magically with what we had 30 yrs ago .. ????

i have smoked different landrace cannabis for example a sout indian sativa

small buds yes

but man what a potency and what an effect , not weak at all , mentally challenging and totally different then what we are used to

100% cerebral

so my point is weed has been strong/dank for 1000's of years

I don't think indica is diluiting the sacred herb and I really like the sativa high!!!!! but the use of this herb by the people is often disrespectful and this misuse could desacralized this magic plant!!!!

Is it really Sativa Vs Indica?
I have found Sativas that are low potency, boring, tasteless, and a lousy high.
I have found Indicas that were strong, up and tasty.
I don't think it is the Sativa Vs Indica as much as the Cannabinoids present, as well as how much of each, and really important is the Terpenes. I have found simple F2 hybrids of Sativa's & Indica's that really taste and smell only of the Sativa's but are much stronger then the Sativa parent. The high can be very up, clear, soaring. speedy, cerebral, not couchlock at all.
You will also find Sativa's that will smell like Indica's if you cross say an Afghan Indica X Original Haze Sativa, make F1 seeds, then self the F1 seeds to make F2 seeds, you will find all possibilities if you just grow enough of the F2 seeds.

Very interesting. Im not a fan of pure indica, all my strains are mixes.
If it wasnt for the extra longer bud time i would have mostly sativa.

There is some great pure Indica, which is tasty, with an up-beat buzz..
Try Maple Leaf Indica Sensi seeds or Spoetnik#1 by Paradise Seeds..
It depends on the person, I can smoke a heavy Indica and then go to the gym and train..
My preferance is for Sativa dom plants in terms of taste and high but IMO Sativas are much better with a bit of Indica in the mix :)
I love Mango Haze and Sam s Skunk x Haze and as the man says in the post above..

yeah I guess yer right...different strokes for different folks. Some people like heroin, some crack cocaine, some crystal meth..........different strokes I guess.

It may be the case that many of the indica-dominant hybrids that dominate the commercial market today are uniform and sometimes difficult to differentiate, but I think it's utterly ridiculous to make a blanket claim that the indica only offers a paralyzing, dumbing-down stone void of cerebral effects. I've smoked pure sativa strains that have been way more "stupefying" and less thought-inspiring in their effects than some indicas.

I also think the yogis in the Himalayas and the people in the areas where landrace indicas traditionally grew would have a quiet chuckle about this article - anyone who's had a proper indica in the right state of mind will testify that the effects can be highly cerebral, bordering on psychedelic.
